1 Reyes 14

1 En aquel tiempo Abías, el hijo de Jeroboam, se enfermó.

At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam, became ill.

2 Y Jeroboam dijo a su mujer: Levántate ahora, disfrázate para que no reconozcan que eres la esposa de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo; mira, Ahías está ahí, el profeta que dijo que yo sería rey sobre este pueblo.

And Jeroboam said to his wife, Now come, put on different clothing so that you may not seem to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh; see, Ahijah is there, the prophet who said I would be king over this people.

3 Y llévate diez tortas de pan y tortas secas y una olla de miel, y ve a él: él te dirá lo que será del niño.

And take with you ten cakes of bread and dry cakes and a pot of honey, and go to him: he will give you word of what is to become of the child.

4 Así lo hizo la esposa de Jeroboam, se levantó, fue a Silo y fue a la casa de Ahías. Ahora Ahías no podía ver, porque era muy viejo.

So Jeroboam's wife did so, and got up and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah was unable to see, because he was very old.

5 Y él Señor había dicho a Ahías: La esposa de Jeroboam vendrá a recibir noticias tuyas sobre su hijo, que está enfermo; Dale tal y cual respuesta; porque ella se hará parecer otra mujer.

And the Lord had said to Ahijah, The wife of Jeroboam is coming to get news from you about her son, who is ill; give her such and such an answer; for she will make herself seem to be another woman.

6 Entonces Ahías, oyendo el ruido de sus pasos entrando por la puerta, dijo: Entra, oh mujer de Jeroboam; ¿Por qué te haces pasar por otra? porque yo soy enviado a ti con amargas noticias.

Then Ahijah, hearing the sound of her footsteps coming in at the door, said, Come in, O wife of Jeroboam; why do you make yourself seem like another? for I am sent to you with bitter news.

7 Ve y dile a Jeroboam: Estas son las palabras del Señor, el Dios de Israel: Aunque te saqué de entre la gente, levantándote para que fueras un gobernante sobre mi pueblo Israel.

Go, say to Jeroboam, These are the words of the Lord, the God of Israel: Though I took you from among the people, lifting you up to be a ruler over my people Israel,

8 Y quité el reino por la fuerza de la semilla de David y te lo di a ti, pero tu no has sido como mi siervo David, quien cumplió mis órdenes y fue sincero conmigo con todo su corazón, todo lo que hizo era justo ante mis ojos.

And took the kingdom away by force from the seed of David and gave it to you, you have not been like my servant David, who kept my orders, and was true to me with all his heart, doing only what was right in my eyes.

9 Pero has hecho el mal más que ningún otro antes que tú, y has creado para ti otros dioses e imágenes de metal que me han llevado a la ira y me han dado la espalda.

But you have done evil more than any before you, and have made for yourself other gods, and images of metal, moving me to wrath, and turning your back on me.

10 Entonces enviaré el mal en la línea de Jeroboam, separando de su familia a todos los hijos varones, aquellos que están encerrados y los que salen libres en Israel; la familia de Jeroboam será barrida como un hombre que quita los desperdicios hasta que se acabe.

So I will send evil on the line of Jeroboam, cutting off from his family every male child, those who are shut up and those who go free in Israel; the family of Jeroboam will be brushed away like a man brushing away waste till it is all gone.

11 Los de la familia de Jeroboam que mueran en la ciudad se convertirán en alimento para los perros; y aquellos a quienes la muerte viene en campo abierto, serán alimento para las aves del aire; porque el Señor lo ha dicho.

Those of the family of Jeroboam who come to death in the town, will become food for the dogs; and those on whom death comes in the open country, will be food for the birds of the air; for the Lord has said it.

12 ¡Arriba, entonces! vuelve a tu casa; y en la hora en que tus pies entren en la ciudad, se producirá la muerte del niño.

Up, then! go back to your house; and in the hour when your feet go into the town, the death of the child will take place.

13 Y todo Israel pondrá su cuerpo en reposo, llorando por él, porque solo él de la familia de Jeroboam será puesto en su lugar de reposo en la tierra; Porque de toda la familia de Jeroboam, en él, solo el Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha visto algo bueno.

And all Israel will put his body to rest, weeping over him, because he only of the family of Jeroboam will be put into his resting-place in the earth; for of all the family of Jeroboam, in him only has the Lord, the God of Israel, seen some good.

14 Y el Señor levantará un rey sobre Israel, que enviará destrucción sobre la familia de Jeroboam en aquel día;

And the Lord will put up a king over Israel who will send destruction on the family of Jeroboam in that day;

15 Y hasta ahora, la mano del Señor ha descendido sobre Israel, sacudiéndola como una hierba en el agua; y, arrancando a Israel de esta buena tierra, que dio a sus padres, los enviará de este modo al otro lado del río; porque se han hecho imágenes, moviendo al Señor a la ira.

And even now the hand of the Lord has come down on Israel, shaking it like a river-grass in the water; and, uprooting Israel from this good land, which he gave to their fathers, he will send them this way and that on the other side of the River; because they have made for themselves images, moving the Lord to wrath.

16 Y él entregará a Israel por los pecados que Jeroboam cometió e hizo que Israel cometiera.

And he will give Israel up because of the sins which Jeroboam has done and made Israel do.

17 Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, se fue y se fue a Tirsa; y cuando llegó a la puerta de la casa, la muerte llegó al niño.

Then Jeroboam's wife got up and went away and came to Tirzah; and when she came to the doorway of the house, death came to the child.

18 Y todo Israel puso su cuerpo en reposo, llorando sobre él, como él Señor lo había dicho por su siervo el profeta Ahías.

And all Israel put his body to rest, weeping over him, as the Lord had said by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Ahora, el resto de los hechos de Jeroboam, cómo hizo la guerra y cómo se convirtió en rey, están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he made war and how he became king, are recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel.

20 Y Jeroboam fue rey por veintidós años, y fue puesto a descansar con sus padres, y su hijo Nadab fue rey en su lugar.

And Jeroboam was king for twenty-two years, and was put to rest with his fathers, and Nadab his son became king in his place.

21 Y Roboam, hijo de Salomón, era rey en Judá. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando se convirtió en rey, y fue rey durante diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había hecho suya de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner su nombre allí; El nombre de su madre era Naama, una mujer amonita.

And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, was king in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he was king for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the town which the Lord had made his out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there; his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonite woman.

22 Y Judá hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y lo irritó más que a sus antepasados por sus pecados.

And Judah did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and made him more angry than their fathers had done by their sins.

23 Hicieron lugares altos, columnas de piedras y columnas de madera en cada colina alta y debajo de cada árbol verde;

For they made high places and upright stones and wood pillars on every high hill and under every green tree;

24 Y más que esto, hubo aquellos en la tierra que fueron utilizados con fines sexuales en la adoración de los dioses, cometiendo los mismos crímenes repugnantes que las naciones que el Señor había enviado ante los hijos de Israel.

And more than this, there were those in the land who were used for sex purposes in the worship of the gods, doing the same disgusting crimes as the nations which the Lord had sent out before the children of Israel.

25 En el quinto año del rey Roboam, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén;

Now in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem;

26 Y quitó todas las riquezas acumuladas de la casa del Señor y de la casa del rey, y todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.

And took away all the stored wealth from the house of the Lord, and from the king's house, and all the gold body-covers which Solomon had made.

27 Entonces, en su lugar, el rey Roboam tenía otras fundas hechas de bronce, y las puso a cargo de los capitanes de los hombres armados que estaban apostados en la puerta de la casa del rey.

So in their place King Rehoboam had other body-covers made of brass, and gave them into the care of the captains of the armed men who were stationed at the door of the king's house.

28 Y cada vez que el rey entraba en la casa del Señor, los hombres armados los llevaban y luego los llevaban a ponerlos en el cuarto de guardia.

And whenever the king went into the house of the Lord, the armed men went with him taking the body-covers, and then took them back to their room.

29 Los demás hechos de Roboam y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all he did, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Judah?

30 Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos sus días.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31 Y Roboam murió y fue enterrado con sus padres en el pueblo de David; El nombre de su madre era Naama, una mujer amonita. Y Abiam su hijo se convirtió en rey en su lugar.

And Rehoboam went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth with his fathers in the town of David; his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonite woman. And Abijam his son became king in his place.
