1 Hijitos Míos, les escribo estas cosas para que no pequen. Y si alguno es pecador, tenemos un amigo y abogado con el Padre, Jesucristo, el justo;
Dear children, I write thus to you in order that you may not sin. If any one sins, we have an Advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ the righteous;
2 El es la ofrenda por nuestros pecados; y no solo para los nuestros, sino para todo el mundo.
and He is an atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 Y con esto podemos estar seguros de que tenemos conocimiento de él, si guardamos sus mandamientos.
And by this we may know that we know Him--if we obey His commands.
4 El hombre que dice: Lo conozco, y no guarda sus mandamientos, es mentiroso, y no hay nada de verdad en él.
He who professes to know Him, and yet does not obey His commands, is a liar, and the truth has no place in his heart.
5 Pero todo hombre que cumple su palabra, el amor de Dios se perfecciona. Con esto podemos estar seguros de que estamos en él.
But whoever obeys His Message, in him love for God has in very deed reached perfection. By this we can know that we are in Him.
6 El que dice que vive en él, debe de andar como él anduvo.
The man who professes to be continuing in Him is himself also bound to live as He lived.
7 Mis amados, no les doy un nuevo mandamiento, sino el mandamiento antiguo que tuviste desde el principio; este mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que vino a tus oídos desde el principio.
My dearly-loved friends, it is no new command that I am now giving you, but an old command which you have had from the very beginning. By the old command I mean the teaching which you have already received.
8 De nuevo, les doy un nuevo mandamiento, que es verdadero en él y en ustedes; porque la noche está cerca de su final y la luz verdadera está brillando.
And yet I am giving you a new command, for such it really is, so far as both He and you are concerned: because the darkness is now passing away and the light, the true light, is already beginning to shine.
9 El que dice que está en la luz y tiene odio en su corazón por su hermano, todavía está en la oscuridad.
Any one who professes to be in the light and yet hates his brother man is still in darkness.
10 El que tiene amor por su hermano está en la luz, y no hay causa de tropiezo en él.
He who loves his brother man continues in the light, and his life puts no stumbling-block in the way of others.
11 Pero el que tiene odio por su hermano está en la oscuridad, caminando en la oscuridad sin saber a dónde va, no puede ver, ha sido cegado por la oscuridad.
But he who hates his brother man is in darkness and is walking in darkness; and he does not know where he is going--because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 Les escribo a ustedes, mis hijos, porque tienen perdón de pecados por su nombre.
I am writing to you, dear children, because for His sake your sins are forgiven you.
13 Les escribo a ustedes, padres, porque tienen conocimiento de aquel que fue desde el principio. Les escribo a ustedes, jóvenes, porque han vencido al Maligno. Les he enviado una carta, hijitos, porque han conocido al Padre.
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the Evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
14 Les he enviado una carta a ustedes, padres, porque tienen conocimiento de aquel que fue desde el principio. Les he enviado una carta, jóvenes, porque ustedes son fuertes, y la palabra de Dios está en ustedes, y porque han vencido al Maligno.
I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and God's Message still has a place in your hearts, and you have overcome the Evil one.
15 No tengas amor por el mundo o por las cosas que están en el mundo. Si un hombre tiene amor por el mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él.
Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loves the world, there is no love in his heart for the Father.
16 Porque todo lo que hay en el mundo, el deseo de la carne, el deseo de los ojos y el orgullo de la vida, no es del Padre, sino del mundo.
For the things in the world--the cravings of the earthly nature, the cravings of the eyes, the show and pride of life--they all come, not from the Father, but from the world.
17 Y el mundo y sus deseos están llegando a su fin; pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios vivirá para siempre. (aiōn g165)
And the world, with its cravings, is passing away, but he who does God's will continues for ever. (aiōn g165)
18 Hijitos, es la última hora; y cuando se les dio la palabra de que el Anticristo vendría, así ahora una cantidad de anticristos han venido a ustedes; y con esto estamos seguros de que es la última hora.
Dear children, the last hour has come; and as you once heard that there was to be an anti-Christ, so even now many anti-Christs have appeared. By this we may know that the last hour has come.
19 Salieron de nosotros, pero no eran de nosotros; si hubieran sido de nosotros, todavía estarían con nosotros, pero salieron de nosotros para que quede claro que no todos son de nosotros.
They have gone forth from our midst, but they did not really belong to us; for had they belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they left us that it might be manifest that professed believers do not all belong to us.
20 Y tienen la unción del Espíritu Santo y ustedes saben todas las cosas.
As for you, you have an anointing from the holy One and have perfect knowledge.
21 No les he enviado esta carta como si ignoraran la verdad, sino porque la conocen, y porque ninguna mentira procede de la verdad.
I have written to you, not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you know it, and you know that nothing false comes from the truth.
22 ¿Quién es mentiroso, sino el que dice que Jesús no es el Cristo? Él es el Anticristo que no cree en el Padre o el Hijo.
Who is a liar compared with him who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He who disowns the Father and the Son is the anti-Christ.
23 El que no cree en el Hijo, no tiene al Padre; el que hace clara su creencia en el Hijo, tiene al Padre.
No one who disowns the Son has the Father. He who acknowledges the Son has also the Father.
24 Pero en cuanto a ustedes, guarda en sus corazones las cosas que oyeron desde el principio. Si guardas estas cosas en sus corazones, ustedes permanecerán en el Padre y el Hijo.
As for you, let the teaching which you have received from the very beginning continue in your hearts. If that teaching does continue in your hearts, you also will continue to be in union with the Son and with the Father.
And this is the promise which He Himself has given us--the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)
26 Les escribo estas cosas acerca de aquellos cuyo propósito es que ustedes puedan ser expulsado del camino verdadero.
I have thus written to you concerning those who are leading you astray.
27 En cuanto a ustedes, tienen la unción del Espíritu Santo que les dio y todavía está en ustedes, y no tienen necesidad de ningún maestro; porque la unción Espíritu les da enseñanza acerca de todas las cosas, y es verdadero y no falso, así que mantengan sus corazones en él, a través de la enseñanza que él les ha dado.
And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains within you, and there is no need for any one to teach you. But since His anointing gives you instruction in all things--and is true and is no falsehood--you are continuing in union with Him even as it has taught you to do.
28 Y ahora, hijos míos, mantengan sus corazones en él; para que en su revelación, no tengamos miedo o vergüenza ante él en su venida.
And now, dear children, continue in union with Him; so that, if He re-appears, we may have perfect confidence, and may not shrink away in shame from His presence at His Coming.
29 Si tienen conocimiento de que él es justo, es claro para ustedes que todos los que hacen justicia son descendientes de él.
Since you know that He is righteous, be assured also that the man who habitually acts righteously is a child of His.
