1 Corintios 10

1 Porque es mi deseo, hermanos míos, que guarden en mente cómo todos nuestros padres estaban debajo de la nube, y todos atravesaron el mar;

For I would have you remember, brethren, how our forefathers were all of them sheltered by the cloud, and all got safely through the Red Sea.

2 Y todos ellos tuvieron el bautismo de Moisés en la nube y en el mar;

All were baptized in the cloud and in the sea to be followers of Moses.

3 Y todos tomaron la misma comida santa;

All ate the same spiritual food,

4 Y la misma bebida santa; porque todos tomaron de las aguas de la roca santa que los seguía; y la roca era Cristo.

and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they long drank the water that flowed from the spiritual rock that went with them--and that rock was the Christ.

5 Pero con la mayoría de ellos, Dios no se agradó, porque llegaron a su fin en el desierto.

But with most of them God was not well pleased; for they were laid low in the Desert.

6 Ahora bien, estas cosas nos sirvieron de ejemplo, para que nuestros corazones no vayan tras las maldades, como lo hicieron.

And in this they became a warning to us, to teach us not to be eager, as they were eager, in pursuit of what is evil.

7 Entonces no vayan tras dioses falsos, como algunos de ellos lo hicieron; como se dice en las Sagradas Escrituras, después de descansar y comer, la gente se levantó a divertirse.

And you must not be worshippers of idols, as some of them were. For it is written, "The People sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to dance."

8 No forniquemos, como algunos de ellos hicieron, de los cuales veintitrés mil terminaron en un día.

Nor may we be fornicators, like some of them who committed fornication and on a single day 23,000 of them fell dead.

9 Y no sometamos al Señor a prueba, como algunos de ellos lo hicieron, y vinieron a la muerte por medio de serpientes.

And do not let us test the Lord too far, as some of them tested Him and were destroyed by the serpents.

10 Y no murmuren en contra del Señor, como algunos de ellos hicieron, y perecieron por él destructor.

And do not be discontented, as some of them were, and they were destroyed by the Destroyer.

11 Ahora estas cosas fueron hechas como un ejemplo; y fueron escritos para nuestra amonestación, sobre quienes han llegado los últimos días. (aiōn g165)

All this kept happening to them with a figurative meaning; but it was put on record by way of admonition to us upon whom the ends of the Ages have come. (aiōn g165)

12 Entonces, que el que parece estar firme, mire que no caíga.

So then let him who thinks he is standing securely beware of falling.

13 Ustedes no han pasado por ninguna prueba, que no sea humanamente soportable. sino como lo que es común al hombre: y Dios es fiel, que no dejará que te caiga ninguna prueba a la que no puedas someterte; sino que dará juntamente con la tentación la salida, para que puedan soportar.

No temptation has you in its power but such as is common to human nature; and God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. But, when the temptation comes, He will also provide the way of escape; so that you may be able to bear it.

14 Por esta causa, mis queridos hermanos, no den culto a dioses falsos.

Therefore, my dear friends, avoid all connection with the worship of idols.

15 Lo que estoy hablando como a hombres sabios, juzguen ustedes mismos,

I speak as to men of sense: judge for yourselves of what I say.

16 La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no nos da parte en la sangre de Cristo? y ¿no es el pan quebrado una parte del cuerpo de Cristo?

The cup of blessing, which we bless, does it not mean a joint-participation in the blood of Christ? The loaf of bread which we break, does it not mean a joint-participation in the body of Christ?

17 Porque, siendo muchas personas, somos un solo pan, somos un solo cuerpo, porque todos participamos en un solo pan.

Since there is one loaf, we who are many are one body; we, all of us, share in that one loaf.

18 Vean a Israel según la carne: ¿no toman parte en el altar los que toman como alimento las ofrendas del altar?

Look at the Israelites--the nation and their ritual. Are not those who eat the sacrifices joint-partakers in the altar?

19 ¿Digo, entonces, que lo que se ofrece a las imágenes es algo, o que la imagen es algo?

Do I mean that a thing sacrificed to an idol is what it claims to be, or that an idol is a real thing?

20 Lo que digo es que las cosas ofrecidas por los gentiles se ofrecen a los demonios y no a Dios; y no es mi deseo que se hagan partícipes con los demonios.

No, but that which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, not to God; and I would not have you have fellowship with one another through the demons.

21 No es posible, al mismo tiempo, tomar la copa del Señor y la copa de los demonios; no pueden participar en la mesa del Señor y en la mesa de los demonios.

You cannot drink the Lord's cup and the cup of demons: you cannot be joint-partakers both in the table of the Lord and in the table of demons.

22 ¿O podemos ser causa de envidia para el Señor? ¿Somos más fuertes que él?

Or are we actually arousing the Lord to jealousy. Are we stronger than He is?

23 Somos libres de hacer todas las cosas, pero no todo conviene. Somos libres de hacer todas las cosas, pero no todo edifica.

Everything is allowable, but not everything is profitable. Everything is allowable, but everything does not build others up.

24 No Dejen que un hombre preste atención solo a lo que es bueno para sí mismo, sino también al bien de su prójimo.

Let no one be for ever seeking his own good, but let each seek that of his fellow man.

25 De Todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, come, tómenla como alimento sin cuestionar si está bien o mal;

Anything that is for sale in the meat market, eat, and ask no questions for conscience' sake;

26 porque la tierra es del Señor y su plenitud.

for the earth is the Lord's, and all that it contains.

27 Si un gentil hace un banquete para ti, y te agrada ir como invitado, toma todo lo que se te presenta, sin cuestionar si está bien o mal.

If an unbeliever gives you an invitation and you are disposed to accept it, eat whatever is put before you, and ask no questions for conscience' sake.

28 Pero si alguien te dice: Este alimento ha sido usado como ofrenda, no lo tomes, a causa de él que lo dijo, y por motivos de conciencia; porque del Señor es la tierra y su plenitud.

But if any one tells you, "This food has been offered in sacrifice;" abstain from eating it--out of respect for him who warned you, and, as before, for conscience' sake.

29 La conciencia, digo, no la tuya, sino la del otro hombre. Pues porque se ha de juzgar mi libertad por la conciencia de otro?

But now I mean his conscience, not your own. "Why, on what ground," you may object, "is the question of my liberty of action to be decided by a conscience not my own?

30 Pero si doy gracias a Dios por la comida que tomo, porque me han de criticar por comerlo?

If, so far as I am concerned, I partake with a grateful heart, why am I to be found fault with in regard to a thing for which I give thanks?"

31 Entonces, si se trata de comida o bebida, o cualquier otra cosa, hagas lo que hagas, hazlo todo para la gloria de Dios.

Whether, then, you are eating or drinking, or whatever you are doing, let everything be done to the glory of God.

32 No Sean piedra de tropiezo a los judíos, ni a los gentiles, ni a la iglesia de Dios.

Do not be causes of stumbling either to Jews or to Gentiles, nor to the Church of God.

33 Así como yo procuro agradar a todos los hombres en todas las cosas, sin buscar ganancias para mí, sino para el bien de los demás, para que puedan obtener la salvación.

That is the way that I also seek in everything the approval of all men, not aiming at my own profit, but at that of the many, in the hope that they may be saved.
