1 Y después de esto, David atacó a los filisteos y los venció, y tomó a Gat con sus aldeas de las manos de los filisteos.
Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.
2 Y venció a Moab, y los moabitas se convirtieron en sus sirvientes y tuvieron que dar ofrendas a David.
David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to David and brought him tribute.
3 Entonces David venció a Hadadezer, rey de Soba, cerca de Hamat, cuando iba a hacer ver su poder junto al río Eufrates.
As far as Hamath, David also defeated King Hadadezer of Zobah, who had marched out to establish his dominion along the Euphrates River.
4 Y le quitó David mil carruajes de guerra, siete mil jinetes y veinte mil de infantería; y le cortaron los músculos de las patas de todos los caballos, conservando sólo lo suficiente para un centenar de carruajes de guerra.
David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
5 Y cuando los sirios de Damasco acudieron en ayuda de Hadadezer, rey de Soba, David puso a filo de espada veintidós mil arameos.
When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men.
6 Entonces David puso fuerzas armadas en Damasco, y los sirios se convirtieron en sus sirvientes y le dieron ofrendas. Y él Señor le dio la victoria a David dondequiera que iba.
Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
7 Y los escudos de oro de los siervos de Hadadezer, David los tomó, y los llevó a Jerusalén.
And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Y de Tibhat y de Cun, ciudades de Hadadezer, David tomó una gran cantidad de bronce, de los cuales Salomón hizo la gran vasija de agua de bronce y las columnas y recipientes de bronce.
And from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles.
9 Cuando Toi, rey de Hamat, tuvo noticias de que David había vencido a todo el ejército de Hadadezer, rey de Sobá,
When King Tou of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 Envió a su hijo Hadoram al rey David para darle palabras de paz y bendición, porque había vencido a Hadadezer en la lucha, porque Hadadezer había estado en guerra con Toi; y le dio todo tipo de vasos de oro, plata y bronce.
he sent his son Hadoram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze,
11 Este rey David santificó al Señor, junto con la plata y el oro que había tomado de todas las naciones; de Edom y Moab y de los hijos de Amón y de los filisteos y de Amalec.
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations—from Edom and Moab, and from the Ammonites, Philistines, and Amalekites.
12 Ademas Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, derrotó a filo de espada dieciocho mil de los edomitas en el valle de la sal,
Moreover, Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13 David puso fuerzas armadas en todas las ciudades de Edom; y todos los edomitas se convirtieron en siervos de David. El Señor hizo que David venciera dondequiera que iba.
He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
14 Así que David fue rey sobre todo Israel, juzgando y dando las decisiones correctas para todo su pueblo.
Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
15 Y Joab, hijo de Sarvia, era el jefe del ejército; y Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era el guardián de los registros.
Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;
16 Y Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob; y Ahimelec, el hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes; y Savsa era el escriba;
Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was the scribe;
17 Y Benaía, hijo de Joiada, estaba sobre los cereteos y los peleteos; y los hijos de David fueron los principales de aquellos cuyos lugares estaban al lado del rey.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief officials at the king’s side.
