1 Crónicas 17

1 Cuando David vivía en su casa, dijo al profeta Natán: Mira, yo vivo en una casa de madera de cedro, pero el arca del pacto del Señor está bajo las cortinas de una tienda.

Now when David was living in his house, he said to the prophet Nathan: “Behold, I live in a house of cedar. But the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent skins.”

2 Y Natán le dijo a David: Haz lo que esté en tu corazón, porque Dios está contigo.

And Nathan said to David: “Do all that is in your heart. For God is with you.”

3 Pero esa misma noche, la palabra de Dios vino a Natán, diciendo:

And yet, that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:

4 Ve y dile a David mi siervo: El Señor dice: No serás tú que me hará una casa para mi lugar de habitacion.

“Go, and speak to my servant David: Thus says the Lord: You shall not build a house for me as a dwelling place.

5 Porque desde el día en que saqué a Israel, hasta hoy no he tenido casa, sino que he ido de tienda en tienda, y de lugar en lugar.

For I have not stayed in a house from the time when I led out Israel, even to this day. Instead, I have been continually changing places, in a tabernacle and tent,

6 En todos los lugares donde he ido con todo Israel, ¿alguna vez dije a alguno de los jueces de Israel, a quienes hice los guardianes de mi pueblo, por qué no me has hecho una casa de cedro?

dwelling with all of Israel. When did I ever speak to any one at all, among the judges of Israel whom I placed in charge so that they might pasture my people, saying: ‘Why have you not built a house of cedar for me?’

7 Entonces ahora, di a mi siervo David: El Señor de los ejércitos dice: Te saqué de los campos, para que ya no cuidases ovejas, para que puedas gobernar a mi Pueblo Israel;

And so, now you shall say this to my servant David: Thus says the Lord of hosts: I took you when you were following the flock in the pastures, so that you would be the leader of my people Israel.

8 Y he estado contigo dondequiera que has ido, he aniquilado ante ti a todos los que estaban contra ti; y haré tu nombre como el nombre de los más grandes de la tierra.

And I have been with you wherever you have gone. And I have slain all your enemies before you, and I have made a name for you like one of the great ones who are celebrated upon the earth.

9 Y haré un lugar de descanso para mi pueblo Israel, plantándolos allí, para que puedan estar en el lugar que es suyo y nunca más ser movidos; y nunca más serán oprimidos por hombres malvados, como fueron al principio,

And I have given a place to my people Israel. They shall be planted, and they shall live in it, and they shall no longer be moved. Neither shall the sons of iniquity wear them away, as in the beginning,

10 Desde el momento en que puse a los jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; y venceré a todos los que están contra ti; Y te haré grande y el jefe de una línea de reyes.

from the days when I gave judges to my people Israel, and I humbled all your enemies. Therefore, I announce to you that the Lord will build a house for you.

11 Y cuando llegue el momento de que vayas con tus padres, pondré en tu lugar a tu simiente después de ti, uno de tus hijos, y haré fuerte su reino.

And when you will have completed your days, so that you go to your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall be from your sons. And I will establish his kingdom.

12 Él será el constructor de mi templo, y haré segura la sede de su autoridad para siempre.

He shall build a house for me, and I will make firm his throne, even unto eternity.

13 Seré para él padre y él será para mí hijo, y no le quitaré mi misericordia como la quité de quien estuvo antes de ti;

I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. And I will not take away my mercy from him, as I took it away from the one who was before you.

14 Pero confirmaré su lugar en mi casa y en mi reino para siempre; y el trono de su autoridad será para siempre.

And I will station him in my house and in my kingdom, even forever. And his throne will be very firm, in perpetuity.”

15 Entonces Natán le dio a David un relato de todas estas palabras y esta visión.

According to all these words, and according to this entire vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

16 Entonces entró el rey David, se sentó ante el Señor y dijo: ¿Quién soy yo, Señor Dios, y que es mi familia, que has sido mi guía hasta ahora?

And when king David had departed, and had sat down before the Lord, he said: “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you would grant such things to me?

17 Y esto era solo una pequeña cosa para ti, oh Dios; pero tus palabras incluso han sido sobre el futuro lejano de la familia de tu siervo, viéndome como en una posición de alto rango, oh Señor Dios.

But even this has seemed little in your sight, and therefore you have also spoken about the house of your servant even for the future. And you have made me a spectacle above all men, O Lord God.

18 ¿Qué más te puede decir David en cuanto al honor que le has dado a tu siervo? porque tienes conocimiento de tu siervo.

What more can David add, since you have so glorified your servant, and have known him?

19 Oh Señor, por tu siervo y por tu corazón, has hecho todas estas grandes cosas y las has dejado ver.

O Lord, because of your servant, in accord with your own heart, you have brought about all this magnificence, and you have willed all these great things to be known.

20 Oh Señor, no hay nadie como tú, y ningún otro Dios, sino tú, según todos hemos oído, lo que nosotros mismos hemos escuchado.

O Lord, there is no one like you. And there is no other God apart from you, out of all whom we have heard about with our ears.

21 Y qué otra nación en la tierra, como tu pueblo Israel, salió un dios para tomar para sí, para ser su pueblo, hacer grande su nombre y ser temido, expulsando a las naciones de delante de tu pueblo a quién hiciste libre y sacaste de Egipto.

For what other single nation upon earth is like your people Israel, to whom God reached out, so that he might free them, and might make a people for himself, and by his greatness and terribleness cast out the nations before the face of those whom he had freed from Egypt?

22 Para tu pueblo Israel, hiciste tuyo para siempre; y tú, Señor, te convertiste en su Dios.

And you have set your people Israel to be your people, even unto eternity. And you, O Lord, have become their God.

23 Y ahora, Señor, deja que tus palabras sobre tu siervo y sobre su familia sean cumplidas para siempre, y haz lo que has dicho.

Now therefore, O Lord, let the word that you have spoken to your servant, and over his house, be confirmed in perpetuity, and do just as you have spoken.

24 Que tus palabras se cumplan y tu nombre sea grande, cuando los hombres digan: El Señor de los ejércitos es el Dios de Israel; y cuando la familia de David, tu siervo, se haga fuerte con tu protección.

And may your name remain and be magnified even for all time. And let it be said: ‘The Lord of hosts is the God of Israel. And the house of his servant David remains forever before him.’

25 Porque tú, oh Dios mío, me has hecho que tu siervo vea que lo pondrás a la cabeza de una línea de reyes; y has motivado a tu siervo para hacerte una oración.

For you, O Lord my God, have revealed to the ear of your servant that you will build a house for him. And therefore your servant has found faith so that he might pray before you.

26 Y ahora, oh Señor, tú eres Dios, y has dicho que darás tantas bondades a tu siervo:

Now then, O Lord, you are God. And you have spoken to your servant such great benefits.

27 Y ahora te complace dar tu bendición a la familia de tu siervo, para que pueda continuar por siempre; Tú, oh Señor, has dado tu bendición, y será bendita para siempre.

And you have begun to bless the house of your servant, so that it may be always before you. For since it is you who is blessing, O Lord, it shall be blessed forever.”
