1 Crónicas 13
1 Entonces David consultó con los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos y con cada jefe.
And David consulteth with the heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, every leader,
2 Y David dijo a todos los hombres de Israel que se habían reunido allí: Si les parece bien y si es el propósito del Señor nuestro Dios, avisemos a todos los demás hermanos, a todas partes en la tierra de Israel, a los sacerdotes y a los levitas en sus ciudades y al país que los rodea, y que se junten aquí con nosotros;
and David saith to all the assembly of Israel, 'If unto you it be good, and from Jehovah our God it hath broken forth — we send unto our brethren, those left in all the lands of Israel, and with them the priests and the Levites, in the cities of their suburbs, and they are gathered unto us,
3 Y volvamos por nosotros mismos el cofre del pacto de nuestro Dios: porque desde los días de Saúl no acudimos a él para pedir dirección.
and we bring round the ark of our God unto us, for we sought Him not in the days of Saul.'
4 Y todas las personas dijeron que lo harían, porque les parecía correcto.
And all the assembly say to do so, for the thing is right in the eyes of all the people.
5 Entonces David envió a todo Israel para que se uniera, desde Shihor, el río de Egipto, hasta el camino de Hamat, para obtener el cofre del pacto de Dios de Quiriat-jearim.
And David assembleth all Israel from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering in of Hamath, to bring in the ark of God from Kirjath-Jearim,
6 Y subió David, con todo Israel, a Baala, es decir, a Quiriat-jearim en Judá, para subir desde allí el cofre de Dios, sobre la cual se nombra el santo Nombre, el nombre del Señor, cuyo lugar está entre los querubines.
and David goeth up, and all Israel, to Baalah, unto Kirjath-Jearim that [is] to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God Jehovah, inhabiting the cherubs, where the Name is called on.
7 Y pusieron el cofre de Dios en un carro nuevo, y lo sacaron de la casa de Abinadab; y Uza y Ahío eran los conductores del carro.
And they place the ark of God on a new cart, from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio are leading the cart,
8 Entonces David y todo Israel hicieron una melodía ante Dios con toda su fuerza, con canciones e instrumentos musicales de cuerda, y con instrumentos de bronce y cuernos.
and David and all Israel are playing before God, with all strength, and with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 Y cuando llegaron al alfoli de Chidon, Uza extendió su mano para mantener el cofre del pacto, porque los bueyes se estaban tropezando.
And they come in unto the threshing-floor of Chidon, and Uzza putteth forth his hand to seize the ark, for the oxen were released,
10 Y la ira del Señor, que arde contra Uza, envió destrucción sobre él porque había puesto su mano sobre el cofre del pacto, y la muerte le llegó allí delante de Dios.
and the anger of Jehovah is kindled against Uzza, and He smiteth him, because that he hath put forth his hand on the ark, and he dieth there before God.
11 Y David se enojó por el arrebato de ira del Señor contra Uza, y le dio a ese lugar el nombre de Pérez-uza, hasta el día de hoy.
And it is displeasing to David, because Jehovah hath made a breach upon Uzza, and one calleth that place 'Breach of Uzza' unto this day.
12 Y tan grande fue el temor de David a Dios ese día, que dijo: ¿Cómo puedo permitir que el cofre del pacto de Dios venga a mí?
And David feareth God on that day, saying, 'How do I bring in unto me the ark of God?'
13 Entonces, David no dejó que el arca volviera a él a la ciudad de David, sino que la rechazó y la puso en la casa de Obed-edom, de Gat.
And David hath not turned aside the ark unto himself, unto the city of David, and turneth it aside unto the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
14 Y el cofre del pacto de Dios estuvo en la casa de Obed-edom por tres meses; y el Señor envió una bendición sobre la casa de Obed-edom y sobre todo lo que tenía.
And the ark of God dwelleth with the household of Obed-Edom, in his house, three months, and Jehovah blesseth the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he hath.
