< Proverbios 29 >
1 El hombre que reprendido endurece la cerviz, de repente será quebrantado; y no habrá para él medicina.
He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
2 Cuando los justos dominan, el pueblo se alegra; mas cuando domina el impío, el pueblo gime.
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people sigh.
3 El hombre que ama la sabiduría, alegra a su padre; mas el que mantiene rameras, perderá la hacienda.
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.
4 El rey con el juicio afirma la tierra; mas el hombre amigo de presentes la destruirá.
The king by justice establisheth the land; but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
5 El hombre que lisonjea a su prójimo, red tiende delante de sus pasos.
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6 En la prevaricación del hombre malo hay lazo; mas el justo cantará y se alegrará.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 Conoce el justo el derecho de los pobres; mas el impío no entiende sabiduría.
The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
8 Los hombres burladores enlazan la ciudad; mas los sabios apartan la ira.
Scornful men set a city in a blaze; but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Si el hombre sabio contendiere con el loco, que se enoje o que se ría, no tendrá reposo.
If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 Los hombres sanguinarios aborrecen al perfecto; mas los rectos buscan su alma.
The men of blood hate him that is sincere; and as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 El loco da rienda suelta a todo su espíritu; mas el sabio al fin lo sosiega.
A fool spendeth all his spirit; but a wise man stilleth it within him.
12 Del señor que escucha la palabra mentirosa, todos sus ministros son impíos.
If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 El pobre y el usurero se encontraron; el SEÑOR alumbra los ojos de ambos.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.
14 El rey que juzga con verdad a los pobres, su trono será firme para siempre.
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 La vara y la corrección dan sabiduría; mas el muchacho suelto avergonzará a su madre.
The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
16 Cuando los impíos son muchos, mucha es la prevaricación; mas los justos verán la ruina de ellos.
When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall gaze upon their fall.
17 Corrige a tu hijo, y te dará descanso, y dará deleite a tu alma.
Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest; yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.
18 Sin visión profética el pueblo perecerá; mas el que guarda la ley es bienaventurado.
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 El siervo no se castigará con palabras; porque entiende, mas no hace caso.
A servant will not be corrected by words; for though he understand, there will be no response.
20 ¿Has visto hombre ligero en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay del loco que de él.
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 El que regala a su siervo desde su niñez, a la postre será su hijo.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become master at the last.
22 El hombre iracundo levanta contiendas; y el furioso muchas veces peca.
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
23 La soberbia del hombre le abate; pero al humilde de espíritu sustenta la honra.
A man's pride shall bring him low; but he that is of a lowly spirit shall attain to honour.
24 El cómplice del ladrón aborrece su vida; oirá maldiciones, y no lo denunciará.
Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
25 El temor a los hombres es peligroso; mas el que confía en el SEÑOR será levantado.
The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be set up on high.
26 Muchos buscan el favor del príncipe; mas del SEÑOR viene el juicio de cada uno.
Many seek the ruler's favour; but a man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
27 Abominación es a los justos el hombre inicuo; y abominación es al impío el de rectos caminos.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
