Jueces 12

1 Y juntándose los varones de Efraín, pasaron hacia el aquilón, y dijeron a Jefté: ¿Por qué fuiste a hacer guerra contra los hijos de Amón, y no nos llamaste para que fuéramos contigo? Nosotros quemaremos a fuego tu casa contigo.

And the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

2 Y Jefté les respondió: Yo y mi pueblo, teníamos una gran contienda con los hijos de Amón, y os llamé, y no me defendisteis de sus manos.

And Iphtah said vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes.

3 Viendo, pues, que tú no me defendíais, puse mi alma en mi palma, y pasé contra los hijos de Amón, y el SEÑOR los entregó en mi mano; ¿por qué pues habéis subido hoy contra mí para pelear conmigo?

So when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me?

4 Y juntando Jefté a todos los varones de Galaad, peleó contra Efraín; y los de Galaad hirieron a Efraín, porque habían dicho: Vosotros sois fugitivos de Efraín, vosotros sois galaaditas entre Efraín y Manasés.

Then Iphtah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are runnagates of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

5 Y los galaaditas tomaron los vados del Jordán a Efraín; y era que, cuando alguno de los de Efraín que había huido, decía, ¿pasaré? los de Galaad le preguntaban: ¿Eres tú efrateo? Si él respondía, no;

Also the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iorden before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were escaped, saide, Let me passe, then the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay,

6 Entonces le decían: Ahora pues, di, Shibolet. Y él decía, Sibolet; porque no podía pronunciarlo así. Entonces le echaban mano, y le degollaban junto a los vados del Jordán. Y murieron entonces de los de Efraín cuarenta y dos mil.

Then said they vnto him, Say nowe Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for he could not so pronounce: then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iorden: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and fourtie thousand.

7 Y Jefté juzgó a Israel seis años; luego murió Jefté, galaadita, y fue sepultado en la tierra de Galaad.

And Iphtah iudged Israel sixe yeere: then dyed Iphtah the Gileadite, and was buryed in one of the cities of Gilead.

8 Después de él juzgó a Israel Ibzán de Belén;

After him Ibzan of Beth-lehem iudged Israel,

9 el cual tuvo treinta hijos y treinta hijas, las cuales casó fuera, y tomó de fuera treinta hijas para sus hijos; y juzgó a Israel siete años.

Who had thirtie sonnes and thirtie daughters, which he sent out, and tooke in thirtie daughters from abroade for his sonnes. and he iudged Israel seuen yeere.

10 Y murió Ibzán, y fue sepultado en Belén.

Then Ibzan died, and was buryed at Bethlehem.

11 Después de él juzgó a Israel Elón, zabulonita, el cual juzgó a Israel diez años.

And after him iudged Israel Elon, a Zebulonite, and he iudged Israel tenne yeere.

12 Y murió Elón, zabulonita, y fue sepultado en Ajalón en la tierra de Zabulón.

Then Elon the Zebulonite dyed, and was buryed in Aijalon in the countrey of Zebulun.

13 Después de él juzgó a Israel Abdón hijo de Hilel, piratonita.

And after him Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite iudged Israel.

14 Este tuvo cuarenta hijos y treinta nietos, que cabalgaban sobre setenta asnos; y juzgó a Israel ocho años.

And he had fourty sonnes and thirtie nephewes that rode on seuentie assecoltes: and he iudged Israel eight yeeres.

15 Y murió Abdón hijo de Hilel, piratonita, y fue sepultado en Piratón, en la tierra de Efraín, en el monte de Amalec.

Then dyed Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite, and was buryed in Pirathon, in ye lande of Ephraim, in the Mount of the Amalekites.
