Job 24
1 Puesto que no son ocultos los tiempos al Todopoderoso, ¿por qué los que le conocen no ven sus días?
Why are not times treasured up with the Almighty? why do not they that know him see his days?
2 Toman los términos, roban los ganados, y pacen los campos ajenos.
They remove the landmarks; they violently take away the flocks and pasture them;
3 Se llevan el asno de los huérfanos; prenden el buey de la viuda.
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge;
4 Hacen apartar del camino a los pobres; y todos los pobres de la tierra se esconden de ellos.
They turn the needy out of the way: the afflicted of the land all hide themselves.
5 He aquí, como asnos monteses en el desierto, salen a su obra madrugando para robar; el desierto es su mantenimiento y de sus hijos.
Lo, [as] wild asses in the desert, they go forth to their work, seeking early for the prey: the wilderness [yieldeth] them food for [their] children.
6 En el campo siegan su pasto, y los impíos vendimian la viña ajena.
They reap in the field the fodder thereof, and they gather the vintage of the wicked;
7 Al desnudo hacen dormir sin ropa, y que en el frío no tenga cobertura.
They pass the night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold;
8 De la inundación de los montes fueron humedecidos, y abrazan las peñas sin tener en qué cubrirse.
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and for want of a shelter embrace the rock...
9 Quitan el pecho a los huérfanos, y de sobre el pobre toman la prenda.
They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor:
10 Al desnudo hacen andar sin vestido, y a los hambrientos quitan las gavillas.
These go naked without clothing, and, hungry, they bear the sheaf;
11 De dentro de sus paredes exprimen el aceite, pisan los lagares, y mueren de sed.
They press out oil within their walls, they tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 De la ciudad claman los hombres, y las almas muertas dan voces, pero Dios no puso estorbo.
Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out; and God imputeth not the impiety.
13 Ellos son entre los rebeldes a la luz, nunca conocieron sus caminos, ni estuvieron en sus veredas.
There are those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 A la luz se levanta el matador, mata al pobre y al necesitado, y de noche es como ladrón.
The murderer riseth with the light, killeth the afflicted and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15 El ojo del adúltero está aguardando la noche, diciendo: No me verá nadie; y esconde su rostro.
And the eye of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me; and he putteth a covering on [his] face.
16 En las tinieblas minan las casas, que de día para sí señalaron; no conocen la luz.
In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in; they know not the light:
17 Porque la mañana es a todos ellos como sombra de muerte; si son conocidos, terrores de sombra de muerte los toman.
For the morning is to them all [as] the shadow of death; for they are familiar with the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 Son livianos sobre las aguas; su porción es maldita en la tierra; nunca vienen por el camino de las viñas.
He is swift on the face of the waters; their portion is cursed on the earth: he turneth not unto the way of the vineyards.
19 La sequía y el calor arrebatan las aguas de la nieve; y el sepulcro a los pecadores. (Sheol h7585)
Drought and heat consume snow waters; so doth Sheol those that have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
20 El Misericordioso se olvidará de ellos; de ellos sentirán los gusanos dulzura; nunca más habrá de ellos memoria, y como un árbol será quebrantada la iniquidad.
The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him: he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree, —
21 A la mujer estéril que no concebía, afligió; y a la viuda nunca hizo bien.
He that despoileth the barren that beareth not, and doeth not good to the widow:
22 Mas a los violentos adelantó con su poder; se levantó, y no fió a nadie en la vida.
He draweth also the mighty with his power; he riseth up, and no [man] is sure of life.
23 Si algunos le dieron a crédito, y se afirmó en ellos; sus ojos tuvo puestos sobre los caminos de ellos.
[God] setteth him in safety, and he resteth thereon; but his eyes are upon their ways.
24 Fueron ensalzados por un poco, y desaparecieron, y son abatidos como cada cual; serán encerrados, y cortados como cabezas de espigas.
They are exalted for a little, and are no more; they are laid low; like all [other] are they gathered, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 Y si no es así, ¿quién me desmentirá ahora, o reducirá a nada mis palabras?
If it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
