Jeremías 36
1 Y aconteció en el cuarto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que vino esta palabra a Jeremías, del SEÑOR, diciendo:
It came about in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, and he said,
2 Tómate un rollo de libro, y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he hablado contra Israel y contra Judá, y contra todos los gentiles, desde el día que comencé a hablarte, desde los días de Josías hasta hoy.
“Take a scroll for yourself and write on it all the words that I have told you concerning Israel and Judah, and every nation. Do this for everything I have told from the days of Josiah until this very day.
3 Si por ventura oyere la Casa de Judá todo el mal que yo pienso hacerles, para que se torne cada uno de su mal camino, y yo perdonaré su maldad y su pecado.
Perhaps the people of Judah will listen to all the disasters that I intend to bring on them. Perhaps everyone will turn away from his wicked way, so I can forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4 Y llamó Jeremías a Baruc hijo de Nerías, y escribió Baruc de boca de Jeremías, en un rollo de libro, todas las palabras que el SEÑOR le había hablado.
Then Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote in a scroll, at Jeremiah's dictation, all the words of Yahweh spoken to him.
5 Y mandó Jeremías a Baruc, diciendo: Yo estoy preso, no puedo entrar en la Casa del SEÑOR.
Next Jeremiah gave a command to Baruch. He said, “I am in prison and cannot go to Yahweh's house.
6 Entra tú, pues, y lee de este rollo que escribiste de mi boca, las palabras del SEÑOR a oídos del pueblo, en la Casa del SEÑOR, el día del ayuno; y también a oídos de todo Judá que vienen de sus ciudades. Las leerás
So you must go and read from the scroll that you wrote at my dictation. On the day of the fast, you must read Yahweh's words in the hearing of the people in his house, and also in the hearing of all of Judah who have come from their cities. Proclaim these words to them.
7 si por ventura caerá oración de ellos en la presencia del SEÑOR, y se tornarán cada uno de su mal camino; porque grande es el furor y la ira que ha hablado el SEÑOR contra este pueblo.
Perhaps their pleas for mercy will come before Yahweh. Perhaps each person will turn from his wicked way, since the wrath and fury that Yahweh has proclaimed against this people are severe.”
8 Y Baruc hijo de Nerías hizo conforme a todas las cosas que le mandó Jeremías profeta, leyendo en el libro las palabras del SEÑOR en la Casa del SEÑOR.
So Baruch son of Neriah did everything that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him to do. He read aloud the words of Yahweh in the house of Yahweh.
9 Y aconteció en el año quinto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el mes noveno, que promulgaron ayuno en la presencia del SEÑOR, a todo el pueblo de Jerusalén, y a todo el pueblo que venía de las ciudades de Judá a Jerusalén.
It came about in the fifth year and ninth month of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, that all the people in Jerusalem and the people who came to Jerusalem from the cities of Judah proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.
10 Y Baruc leyó en el libro las palabras de Jeremías en la Casa del SEÑOR, en la cámara de Gemarías hijo de Safán escriba, en el atrio de arriba, a la entrada de la puerta nueva de la Casa del SEÑOR, en oídos de todo el pueblo.
Baruch read aloud Jeremiah's words in the house of Yahweh, from the room of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper courtyard, by the gate of the entrance to the house of Yahweh. He did this in the hearing of all the people.
11 Y oyendo Micaías hijo de Gemarías, hijo de Safán, todas las palabras del SEÑOR del libro,
Now Micaiah son of Gemariah son of Shaphan heard all of Yahweh's words in the scroll.
12 descendió a la casa del rey, a la cámara del escriba, y he aquí que todos los príncipes estaban allí sentados: Elisama escriba, y Delaía hijo de Semaías, y Elnatán hijo de Acbor, y Gemarías hijo de Safán, y Sedequías hijo de Ananías, y todos los príncipes.
He went down to the house of the king, to the secretary's room. Look, all the officials were sitting there: Elishama the secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Akbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the officials.
13 Y les contó Micaías todas las palabras que había oído leyendo Baruc en el libro a oídos del pueblo.
Then Micaiah reported to them all the words that he had heard that Baruch read aloud in the hearing of the people.
14 Entonces enviaron todos los príncipes a Jehudí hijo de Netanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Cusi, para que dijese a Baruc: Toma el rollo en que leíste a oídos del pueblo, y ven. Y Baruc, hijo de Nerías, tomó el rollo en su mano, y vino a ellos.
So all the officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah son of Shelemiah son of Cushi, to Baruch. Jehudi said to Baruch, “Take the scroll in your hand, the scroll from which you were reading in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and went to the officials.
15 Y le dijeron: Siéntate ahora, y léelo en nuestros oídos. Y leyó Baruc a sus oídos.
Then they said to him, “Sit down and read this in our hearing.” So Baruch read the scroll.
16 Y fue que, cuando oyeron todas aquellas palabras, cada uno se volvió espantado a su compañero, y dijeron a Baruc: Sin duda contaremos al rey todas estas palabras.
It happened that when they heard all these words, each man turned in fear to the one next to him and said to Baruch, “We must certainly report all of these words to the king.”
17 Preguntaron luego a Baruc, diciendo: Cuéntanos ahora cómo escribiste de boca de Jeremías todas estas palabras.
Then they asked Baruch, “Tell us, how did you come to write all these words at Jeremiah's dictation?”
18 Y Baruc les dijo: El me dictaba de su boca todas estas palabras, y yo escribía con tinta en el libro.
Baruch said to them, “He dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them in ink on this scroll.”
19 Entonces dijeron los príncipes a Baruc: Ve, y escóndete, tú y Jeremías, y nadie sepa dónde estáis.
Then the officials said to Baruch, “Go, hide yourself, and Jeremiah, too. Do not let anyone know where you are.”
20 Y entraron al rey al atrio, habiendo depositado el rollo en la cámara de Elisama escriba; y contaron a los oídos del rey todas estas palabras.
So they put the scroll in the room of Elishama the secretary, and they went to the king in the courtyard and they reported everything in the hearing of the king.
21 Y envió el rey a Jehudí a que tomase el rollo, el cual lo tomó de la cámara de Elisama escriba, y leyó en él Jehudí a oídos del rey, y a oídos de todos los príncipes que junto al rey estaban.
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi took it from the room of Elishama the secretary. Then he read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing beside him.
22 Y el rey estaba en la casa de invierno en el mes noveno, y había un brasero ardiendo delante de él;
Now the king was staying in the winter house in the ninth month, and a brazier was burning in front of him.
23 y fue que, cuando Jehudí hubo leído tres o cuatro planas, lo rasgó con un cuchillo de escribanía, y lo echó en el fuego que había en el brasero, hasta que todo el rollo se consumió sobre el fuego que en el brasero había.
It happened that as Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut it off with a knife and throw it into the fire in the brazier until all of the scroll was destroyed.
24 Y no tuvieron temor, ni rasgaron sus vestidos, el rey y todos sus siervos que oyeron todas estas palabras.
But neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words were frightened, nor did they tear their clothes.
25 Y aunque Elnatán y Delaía y Gemarías rogaron al rey que no quemase aquel rollo, no los quiso oír;
Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah had even urged the king not to burn the scroll, but he did not listen to them.
26 antes mandó el rey a Jerameel hijo de Hamelec, y a Seraías hijo de Azriel, y a Selemías hijo de Abdeel, tomar a Baruc el escribano y a Jeremías profeta; mas el SEÑOR los escondió.
Then the king commanded Jerahmeel, a relative, Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but Yahweh had hidden them.
27 Y vino palabra del SEÑOR a Jeremías, después que el rey quemó el rollo, las palabras que Baruc había escrito de boca de Jeremías, diciendo:
Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll and the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah's dictation, saying,
28 Vuelve a tomar otro rollo, y escribe en él todas las palabras primeras, que estaban en el primer rollo que quemó Joacim, el rey de Judá.
“Go back, take another scroll for yourself, and write in it all the words that were on the original scroll, the one that Jehoiakim king of Judah burned.
29 Y dirás a Joacim rey de Judá: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Tú quemaste este rollo, diciendo: ¿Por qué escribiste en él, diciendo: De cierto, vendrá el rey de Babilonia, y destruirá esta tierra, y hará que no queden en ella hombres ni animales?
Then you must say this to Jehoiakim king of Judah: 'You burned that scroll, saying, “Why have you written on it, 'The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, for he will destroy both man and beast in it'?”'”
30 Por tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR a Joacim rey de Judá: No tendrá quien se siente sobre el trono de David; y su cuerpo será echado al calor del día y al hielo de la noche.
Therefore Yahweh says this concerning you, Jehoiakim king of Judah: “No descendant of yours will ever sit on the throne of David. As for you, your corpse will be thrown out into the heat of day and the frost of night.
31 Y visitaré sobre él, y sobre su simiente, y sobre sus siervos, su maldad; y traeré sobre ellos, y sobre los moradores de Jerusalén, y sobre los varones de Judá, todo el mal que les he dicho y no oyeron.
For I will punish you, your descendants, and your servants for the iniquity of you all. I will bring on you, on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on every person in Judah all the disasters with which I have threatened you with, but to which you paid no attention.”
32 Y tomó Jeremías otro rollo, y lo dio a Baruc hijo de Nerías escriba; y escribió en él de boca de Jeremías todas las palabras del libro que quemó en el fuego Joacim rey de Judá; y aun fueron añadidas sobre ellas muchas otras palabras semejantes.
So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch son of Neriah the scribe. Baruch wrote on it at Jeremiah's dictation all the words that had been in the scroll burned by Jehoiakim king of Judah. Furthermore, many other similar words were added to this scroll.
