Santiago 2
1 Hermanos míos, no tengáis la fe de nuestro Señor Jesús, el Cristo glorioso, en acepción de personas.
Mi britheren, nyle ye haue the feith of oure Lord Jhesu Crist of glorie, in accepcioun of persoones.
2 Porque si en vuestra reunión entra algún varón que trae anillo de oro, vestido de preciosa ropa, y también entra un pobre vestido de vestidura vil,
For if a man `that hath a goldun ring, and in a feire clothing, cometh in youre cumpany, and a pore man entrith in a foul clothing,
3 y tuviereis respeto al que trae la vestidura preciosa, y le dijereis: Siéntate tú aquí bien; y dijereis al pobre: Estate tú allí en pie, o siéntate aquí debajo de mi estrado;
and if ye biholden in to hym that is clothid with clere clothing, and if ye seie to hym, Sitte thou here wel; but to the pore man ye seien, Stonde thou there, ethir sitte vndur the stool of my feet; whether ye demen not anentis you silf,
4 ¿vosotros no juzgáis en vosotros mismos, y sois hechos jueces de pensamientos malos?
and ben maad domesmen of wickid thouytis?
5 Hermanos míos amados, oíd: ¿No ha elegido Dios los pobres de este mundo, para que sean ricos en fe, y herederos del Reino que prometió a los que le aman?
Heere ye, my moost dereworthe britheren, whethir God chees not pore men in this world, riche in feith, and eiris of the kyngdom, that God bihiyte to men that louen him?
6 Mas vosotros habéis afrentado al pobre. ¿No os oprimen los ricos con tiranía, y ellos os llevan con violencia a los juzgados?
But ye han dispisid the pore man. Whether riche men oppressen not you bi power, and thei drawen you to domes?
7 ¿No blasfeman ellos el buen nombre que es invocado sobre vosotros?
Whether thei blasfemen not the good name, that is clepid to help on you?
8 Si en verdad cumplís vosotros la ley real, conforme a la Escritura: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo, bien hacéis;
Netheles if ye performen the kingis lawe, bi scripturis, Thou schalt loue thi neiybour as thi silf, ye don wel.
9 pero si hacéis acepción de personas, cometéis pecado, y sois acusados de la ley como rebeldes.
But if ye taken persones, ye worchen synne, and ben repreued of the lawe, as trespasseris.
10 Porque cualquiera que hubiere guardado toda la ley, y ofendiere en un punto, es hecho culpable de todos.
And who euere kepith al the lawe, but offendith in oon, he is maad gilti of alle.
11 Porque el que dijo: No cometerás adulterio; también ha dicho: No matarás. Y, si no hubieres cometido adulterio, pero hubieres matado, ya eres hecho transgresor de la Ley.
For he that seide, Thou schalt do no letcherie, seide also, Thou schalt not sle; that if thou doist not letcherie, but thou sleest, thou art maad trespassour of the lawe.
12 Así hablad, y así obrad, como los que habéis de ser juzgados por la ley de la libertad.
Thus speke ye, and thus do ye, as bigynnynge to be demyd bi the lawe of fredom.
13 Porque juicio sin misericordia será hecho con aquel que no hiciere misericordia; y la misericordia se gloría contra el juicio.
For whi dom with out merci is to hym, that doith no mercy; but merci aboue reisith dom.
14 Hermanos míos, ¿qué aprovechará si alguno dice que tiene fe, y no tiene las obras? ¿Por ventura esta tal fe le podrá salvar?
Mi britheren, what schal it profite, if ony man seie that he hath feith, but he hath not the werkis? whether feith schal mowe saue hym?
15 Y si el hermano o la hermana están desnudos, y tienen necesidad del mantenimiento de cada día,
And if a brother ethir sister be nakid, and han nede of ech daies lyuelode,
16 y alguno de vosotros les dice: Id en paz, calentaos y saciaos, pero no les diereis las cosas que son necesarias para el cuerpo, ¿qué les aprovechará?
and if ony of you seie to hem, Go ye in pees, be ye maad hoot, and be ye fillid; but if ye yyuen not to hem tho thingis that ben necessarie to bodi, what schal it profite?
17 Así también la fe, si no tuviere las obras, es muerta en sí misma.
So also feith, if it hath not werkis, is deed in it silf.
18 Mas alguno dirá: Tú tienes la fe, y yo tengo las obras; muéstrame tu fe sin tus obras, y yo te mostraré mi fe por mis obras.
But summan schal seie, Thou hast feith, and Y haue werkis; schewe thou to me thi feith with out werkis, and Y schal schewe to thee my feith of werkis.
19 Tú crees que Dios es uno; bien haces. También los demonios creen, y tiemblan.
Thou bileuest, that o God is; thou doist wel; and deuelis bileuen, and tremblen.
20 ¿Mas oh hombre vano, quieres saber que la fe sin obras es muerta?
But wolt thou wite, thou veyn man, that feith with out werkis is idul?
21 ¿No fue justificado por las obras Abraham nuestro Padre, cuando ofreció a su hijo Isaac sobre el altar?
Whether Abraham, oure fadir, was not iustified of werkis, offringe Ysaac, his sone, on the auter?
22 ¿No ves que la fe obró con sus obras, y que la fe fue completa por las obras?
Therfor thou seest, that feith wrouyte with hise werkis, and his feith was fillid of werkis.
23 ¿Y que la Escritura fue cumplida, que dice: Abraham creyó a Dios, y le fue imputado a justicia, y fue llamado amigo de Dios?
And the scripture was fillid, seiynge, Abraham bileuede to God, and it was arettid to hym to riytwisnesse, and he was clepid the freend of God.
24 Vosotros veis, pues, que el hombre es justificado por las obras, y no solamente por la fe.
Ye seen that a man is iustified of werkis, and not of feith oneli.
25 Asimismo también Rahab la ramera, ¿no fue justificada por obras, cuando recibió los mensajeros, y los echó fuera por otro camino?
In lijk maner, and whether also Raab, the hoore, was not iustified of werkis, and resseyuede the messangeris, and sente hem out bi anothir weie?
26 Porque como el cuerpo sin espíritu está muerto, así también la fe sin obras está muerta.
For as the bodi with out spirit is deed, so also feith with out werkis is deed.
