Isaías 8
1 Y me dijo el SEÑOR: Tómate un gran volumen, y escribe en él en estilo vulgar Maher-salal-hasbaz Date prisa al despojo, apresúrate a la presa.
And the Lord said unto me, Take thyself a large table, and write on it with distinct letters, Lemaher-shalal-chash-bas.
2 Y junté conmigo por testigos fieles a Urías sacerdote, y a Zacarías hijo de Jeberequías.
And I was to summon for myself trustworthy witnesses, Uriyah the priest, and Zecharyahu the son of Yeberechyahu.
3 Y me junté con la profetisa, la cual concibió, y dio a luz un hijo. Y me dijo el SEÑOR: Ponle por nombre Maher-salal-hasbaz.
And I came near unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-chash-bas.
4 Porque antes que el niño sepa decir, Padre mío, y Madre mía, será quitada la fuerza de Damasco y los despojos de Samaria, en la presencia del rey de Asiria.
For before yet the boy shall know to call, My father, and my mother, the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.
5 Otra vez me tornó el SEÑOR a hablar, diciendo:
And the Lord continued to speak unto me again, saying,
6 Por cuanto desechó este pueblo las aguas de Siloé, que corren mansamente, y con Rezín y con el hijo de Remalías se regocijó,
Forasmuch as this people despiseth the waters of Shiloach that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remalyahu's son:
7 he aquí, por tanto, que el Señor hace subir sobre ellos aguas de río, impetuosas y muchas, es a saber, al rey de Asiria con todo su poder: el cual subirá sobre todos sus ríos, y pasará sobre todas sus riberas;
Yea therefore behold, the Lord bringeth up over them the strong and many waters of the river, —the king of Assyria, and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels, and step over all his banks;
8 y pasando hasta Judá, inundará, y sobrepujará, y llegará hasta la garganta; y extendiendo sus alas, llenará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emmanuel.
And he shall penetrate into Judah, overflow and flood over, even to the neck shall he reach; and his outstretched wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O 'Immanu-el.
9 Juntaos, pueblos, y seréis quebrantados; oíd, todos los que sois de lejanas tierras; poneos a punto, y seréis quebrantados; ceñíos, y seréis quebrantados.
Associate yourselves, O ye people, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of the far portions of the earth: gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, yet shall ye be broken in pieces.
10 Tomad consejo, y será deshecho; proferid palabra, y no será firme, porque Dios está con nosotros.
Take counsel together, yet shall it come to naught; speak the word, and it shall not stand firm; for with us is God.
11 Porque el SEÑOR me dijo de esta manera con mano fuerte, y me enseñó que no caminase por el camino de este pueblo, diciendo:
For thus said the Lord to me with the strength of prophecy, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
12 No llaméis, conjuración, a todas las cosas a que este pueblo llama conjuración; ni temáis su temor, ni le tengáis miedo.
Call ye not a conspiracy all that this people may call a conspiracy, and what it feareth shall ye not fear, and be not terrified [thereat].
13 Al SEÑOR de los ejércitos, a él santificad; El sea vuestro temor, y él sea vuestro miedo.
The Lord of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your terror.
14 Entonces él será por santuario; y a las dos casas de Israel por piedra para tropezar, y por tropezadero para caer; por lazo, y por red al morador de Jerusalén.
And he will be for a sanctuary; but also for a stone of stumbling and for a rock to fall over unto both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15 Y muchos tropezarán entre ellos; y caerán, y serán quebrantados; se enredarán, y serán presos.
And many shall stumble over them, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and be caught.
16 Ata el testimonio, sella la ley entre mis discípulos.
Bind up the testimony, seal up the law among my disciples.
17 Esperaré, pues, al SEÑOR, el cual escondió su rostro de la casa de Jacob, y a él aguardaré.
And I will wait for the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope for him.
18 He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dió el SEÑOR, somos por señales y prodigios en Israel, de parte del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, que mora en el Monte de Sion.
Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for tokens in Israel, from the Lord of hosts who dwelleth on mount Zion.
19 Y si os dijeren: Preguntad a los pitones y a los adivinos, que susurran hablando, responded: ¿Por ventura no consultará el pueblo a su Dios? ¿ Apelará por los vivos a los muertos?
And when they shall say unto you, “Inquire of those that have familiar spirits, and of the wizards, that whisper, and that mutter:” should not a people inquire of their God? [should we then] in behalf of the living [inquire] of the dead?
20 ¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si no dijeren conforme a esto, es porque no les ha amanecido.
[Hold] to the law and to the testimony: if they are not to speak according to this word, in which there is no light.
21 Entonces pasarán por esta tierra fatigados y hambrientos. Y acontecerá que teniendo hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán a su rey y a su Dios. Y levantando el rostro en alto,
And the [people] shall pass through [the land], hard oppressed and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they will become enraged, and curse their king and their god, and turn toward on high [for aid].
22 y mirarán a la tierra, y he aquí tribulación y tinieblas, oscuridad y angustia; y serán sumidos en las tinieblas.
And they will look unto the earth; and behold there are trouble and darkness, dimness of oppression, and they shall be scattered into obscurity.
