Hageo 2
1 En el mes séptimo, a los veintiún días del mes, vino palabra del SEÑOR por mano del profeta Hageo, diciendo:
on the twenty-first day of the seventh month, this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet,
2 Habla ahora a Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, gobernador de Jud, y a Josué hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, y al remanente del pueblo, diciendo:
telling him to speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the rest of the people:
3 ¿Quién ha quedado entre vosotros que haya visto esta Casa en su primera gloria, y cual ahora la veis? ¿No es ella como nada delante de vuestros ojos?
Who is left among you that saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Doesn’t it seem as though there is nothing there?
4 Pues ahora, Zorobabel, esfuérzate, dijo el SEÑOR; esfuérzate también Josué, hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote; y esfuérzate todo el pueblo de esta tierra, dijo el SEÑOR, y obrad; porque Yo soy con vosotros, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.
The Lord says: Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel, be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest, be strong, all you people of the land. The Lord says: Begin the work, for I am with you. The Lord of hosts says:
5 La palabra que concerté con vosotros en vuestra salida de Egipto, y mi Espíritu est en medio de vosotros; no tem is.
When your ancestors left Egypt I made a promise to you, and I am still with you. Do not be afraid!
6 Porque así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: De aquí a poco yo haré temblar los cielos y la tierra, y el mar y la tierra seca;
The Lord of hosts says: In a little while, I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the land.
7 y haré temblar a todos los gentiles, y vendr el Deseado de todos los gentiles; y llenaré esta casa de gloria, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.
And I will shake all nations, and the precious things of all nations shall come here; and I will fill this temple with glory. The Lord of hosts says:
8 Mía es la plata, y mío es el oro, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,
9 La gloria de esta Casa postrera ser mayor que la de la primera, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos; y daré paz en este lugar, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.
The later glory of this temple shall be greater than the former. The Lord of hosts says: In this place I will grant prosperity. This is the message of the Lord of hosts.
10 A los veinticuatro del noveno mes, en el segundo año de Darío, vino palabra del SEÑOR por mano del profeta Hageo, diciendo:
In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet:
11 Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Ahora pregunta a los sacerdotes acerca de la ley, diciendo:
The Lord of hosts says: “Ask the priests for a ruling:
12 Si llevare alguno las carnes sagradas en la falda de su ropa, y con el vuelo de ella tocare el pan, o la vianda, o el vino, o el aceite, u otra comida cualquiera, ¿ser santificada? Y respondieron los sacerdotes, y dijeron: No.
‘If one carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and with that garment touches bread, or stew, or wine, or oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” And the priests answered: “No.”
13 Y dijo Hageo: Si algún inmundo a causa de cuerpo muerto tocare alguna cosa de éstas, ¿ser inmunda? Y respondieron los sacerdotes, y dijeron: Inmunda ser.
Then said Haggai, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?” And the priests answered: “It would be unclean.”
14 Y respondió Hageo y dijo: Así es este pueblo, y esta gente, delante de mí, dijo el SEÑOR; y asimismo toda obra de sus manos; y todo lo que aquí ofrecen es inmundo.
Haggai replied: “So is this people and so is this nation before me, the Lord declares, and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
15 Ahora, pues, poned vuestro corazón desde este día en adelante. Antes que pusiesen piedra sobre piedra en el Templo del SEÑOR.
Think back from this day, before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord.
16 Antes que fuesen estas cosas, venían al montón de veinte efas, y había diez; venían al lagar para sacar cincuenta c ntaros del lagar, y había veinte.
How were you? When you came to a heap of grain expecting twenty measures, there were only ten; when you came to the wine vat to draw out fifty vessels, there were only twenty.
17 Os herí con viento solano, y con tizoncillo, y con granizo a vosotros, y en toda obra de vuestras manos; mas no os convertisteis a mí, dijo el SEÑOR.
‘I struck all the work of your hands with blasting and blight, with mildew and with hail. Yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says the Lord,
18 Pues, poned ahora, vuestro corazón desde este día en adelante, desde el día veinticuatro del noveno mes, que es desde el día que se echó el cimiento al Templo del SEÑOR; poned vuestro corazón.
‘Think back from this day, think! From the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day when the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid, and consider.
19 ¿Aún no est la simiente en el granero? Ni aún la vid, ni la higuera, ni el granado, ni el rbol de la oliva ha florecido todavía; mas desde este día daré bendición.
The seed is in the granary, but the vine and the fig tree and the pomegranate and the olive tree have not yet brought forth fruit. From this day will I bless you.’”
20 Y vino segunda vez palabra del SEÑOR a Hageo, a los veinticuatro del mismo mes, diciendo:
This message from the Lord came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month:
21 Habla a Zorobabel, gobernador de Jud, diciendo: Yo hago temblar los cielos y la tierra;
Tell Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I will shake the heavens and the earth;
22 Y trastornaré el trono de los reinos, y destruiré la fuerza del reino de los gentiles; y trastornaré el carro, y los que en él suben; y vendr n abajo los caballos, y los que en ellos suben, cada cual por la espada de su hermano.
and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, each by the sword of his fellow.
23 En aquel día, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, te tomaré, oh Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, siervo mío, dijo el SEÑOR, y te pondré como anillo de sellar; porque yo te escogí, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.
In that day, the Lord of hosts says, I will take you, Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, the Lord says, and will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, the Lord of hosts says.
