Ezequiel 14
1 Y vinieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel, y se sentaron delante de mí.
One day some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me.
2 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:
Then Yahweh gave me this message:
3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han hecho subir sus inmundicias sobre su corazón, y han establecido el tropezadero de su maldad delante de su rostro; ¿cuando me preguntaren, les tengo que responder?
“You human, these men want to [IDM] worship idols, and they are allowing idols to induce them to sin [IDM]. So I will certainly [RHQ] answer them if they ask me for advice.
4 Háblales por tanto, y diles: Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Cualquier varón de la Casa de Israel que hubiere puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y establecido el tropezadero de su maldad delante de su rostro, y viniere al profeta, yo, el SEÑOR, responderé al que así viniere en la multitud de sus ídolos;
So say this to them: ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: When any Israeli person wants to worship idols which will induce him to sin, and he goes to a [to get advice], I, Yahweh, will give him the answer that he deserves to receive because he worship idols.
5 para tomar a la Casa de Israel en su corazón, que se han apartado de mí todos ellos en sus ídolos.
[I will do that] in order that the Israeli people, who have abandoned me in order to worship their idols, will sincerely [IDM] worship me again.’
6 Por tanto, di a la Casa de Israel: Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Convertíos, y haced que se conviertan de vuestros ídolos, y apartad vuestro rostro de todas vuestras abominaciones.
Therefore, say to the Israeli people, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: (Repent/Stop sinning)! Stop worshiping your idols, and stop all your [other] detestable behavior!’
7 Porque cualquier hombre de la Casa de Israel, y de los extranjeros que moran en Israel, que se hubiere apartado de andar en pos de mí, y hubiere puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y establecido delante de su rostro el tropezadero de su maldad, y viniere al profeta para preguntarle por mí, yo, el SEÑOR, le responderé por mí mismo;
When any of [you] Israeli people or any foreigner living among you turns away from me and starts worshiping idols [IDM] that induce him to sin, and then goes to a prophet to find out what I want him to do, I myself will answer him.
8 y pondré mi rostro contra aquel varón, y le pondré por señal y por refranes, y yo lo cortaré de entre mi pueblo; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR.
I will show that I detest him, and [what happens to] him to be a warning [to others], and cause him to be someone whom people despise. I will cause him to no longer be allowed to associate with my people. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
9 Y el profeta, cuando fuere engañado y hablare palabra, yo, el SEÑOR, engañé al tal profeta; y extenderé mi mano sobre él, y le raeré de en medio de mi pueblo de Israel.
And if a prophet is deceived and gives a false prophecy, [even though] I [allowed him to] give that message, I will get rid of him and remove him from among my Israeli people.
10 Y llevarán su maldad, como la maldad del que pregunta, así será la maldad del profeta;
Both the prophet and the one who asks him for advice will be guilty, [and I will punish both of them].
11 para que no yerren más los de la Casa de Israel de en pos de mí; ni más se contaminen en todas sus rebeliones; y me sean por pueblo, y yo les sea por Dios, dijo el Señor DIOS.
Then you Israeli people will no longer abandon me, and you will no longer become unacceptable to me because of your sins. You will be my people, and I will be your God. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, say.”
12 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:
Yahweh gave me another message. [He said],
13 Hijo de hombre, cuando la tierra pecare contra mí rebelándose pérfidamente, y extendiere yo mi mano sobre ella, y le quebrantare el arrimo del pan, y enviare en ella hambre, y talare de ella hombres y bestias;
“You human, [the people of some] country sin against me by abandoning me, and I punish [IDM] them by cutting off their food supply and by sending a famine, with the result that people and animals die,
14 si estuvieren en medio de ella estos tres varones, Noé, Daniel, y Job, ellos por su justicia librarán su vida, dijo el Señor DIOS.
even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were there, they would save only themselves because of their being righteous. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
15 Y si hiciere pasar mala bestia por la tierra, y la asolare, y fuere desolada que no haya quien pase a causa de la bestia,
Or, if I send wild animals throughout the country, and they attack and [many of] [HYP] the people, with the result that travel in that country becomes very dangerous and no one travels through that country,
16 y estos tres varones estuvieren en medio de ella, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas librarán; ellos solos serán libres, y la tierra será asolada.
[as surely] as I am alive, even if those three men were in that country, they could not save [even their own] sons or [from being killed]. Only those [three] would (be saved/remain alive), and the country would become desolate. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
17 O si yo trajere espada sobre la tierra, y dijere: Espada, pasa por la tierra; e hiciere talar de ella hombres y bestias,
Or, if I bring enemy soldiers [MTY] to attack that country, and they kill [MTY] people and animals throughout that country with their swords,
18 y estos tres varones estuvieren en medio de ella, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, no librarán sus hijos ni sus hijas; ellos solos serán libres.
as surely as I am alive, even if those three men were in that country, they would not be able to save even their own sons or [from being killed]. They would save only themselves. That is what I, Yahweh the Lord, declare.
19 O si pestilencia enviare sobre esa tierra, y derramare mi ira sobre ella en sangre, para talar de ella hombres y bestias,
Or, if I send a plague into that land and cause the people and the animals to [from the plague] because I am very angry with those people,
20 y estuvieren en medio de ella Noé, Daniel, y Job, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, no librarán hijo ni hija; ellos por su justicia librarán su vida.
[as surely] as I am alive, even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in that country, they would not [be able to] save even their sons and daughters. They would save only themselves because of their being righteous. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
21 Por lo cual así dijo el Señor DIOS: ¿Cuánto más, si mis cuatro malos juicios, espada, y hambre, y mala bestia, y pestilencia, enviare contra Jerusalén, para talar de ella hombres y bestias?
So [now] this is what [I, ], Yahweh the Lord, say: I will cause four things to happen to [the people of] Jerusalem to punish them very severely. [Some] people and animals will be killed by swords, [some will die from] famines, [others will be attacked and killed by] wild animals, and [others will die in] plagues.
22 Sin embargo, he aquí quedará en ella un remanente, de los cuales serán llevados cautivos sus hijos e hijas, que serán llevados fuera; he aquí que ellos entrarán a vosotros, y veréis su camino y sus hechos; y tomaréis consolación del mal que hice venir sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella.
But some [of your people] will remain alive, [both adults] and children. They will come to you, [Ezekiel, in Babylon]. And when you see [disgusting] behavior and actions, you will realize that I had good reasons for causing [the people of] Jerusalem to experience those many great disasters [DOU] that I have sent to them.
23 Y os consolarán cuando viereis su camino y sus hechos, y conoceréis que no sin causa hice todo lo que habré hecho en ella, dijo el Señor DIOS.
When you see those things that they do, you will know that there were very good reasons [LIT] for me to do everything that I caused to happen to them. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.”
