Deuteronomio 18
1 Los sacerdotes levitas, toda la tribu de Leví, no tendrán parte ni heredad con Israel; de las ofrendas encendidas al SEÑOR, y de la heredad de él comerán.
The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Yhwh made by fire, and his inheritance.
2 No tendrán, pues, heredad entre sus hermanos: el SEÑOR es su heredad, como él les ha dicho.
Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: Yhwh is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
3 Y éste será el derecho de los sacerdotes de parte del pueblo, de los que ofrecieren en sacrificio buey o cordero; darán al sacerdote la espalda, las quijadas, y el cuajar.
And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
4 Las primicias de tu grano, de tu vino, y de tu aceite, y las primicias de la lana de tus ovejas le darás;
The firstfruit also of thy grain, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.
5 porque le ha escogido el SEÑOR tu Dios de todas tus tribus, para que esté para ministrar al nombre del SEÑOR, él y sus hijos todos los días.
For Yhwh thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Yhwh, him and his sons for ever.
6 Y cuando el levita saliere de alguna de tus ciudades de todo Israel, donde hubiere peregrinado, y viniere con todo el deseo de su alma al lugar que el SEÑOR escogiere,
And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which Yhwh shall choose;
7 ministrará al nombre del SEÑOR su Dios, como todos sus hermanos los levitas que estuvieren allí delante del SEÑOR.
Then he shall minister in the name of Yhwh his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before Yhwh.
8 Porción como la porción de los otros comerán, además de sus patrimonios.
They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.
9 Cuando hubieres entrado en la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da, no aprenderás a hacer según las abominaciones de aquellos gentiles.
When thou art come into the land which Yhwh thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 No sea hallado en tu tierra quien haga pasar su hijo o su hija por el fuego, ni practicante de adivinaciones, ni agorero, ni sortílego, ni hechicero,
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 ni fraguador de encantamientos, ni quien pregunte a pitón, ni mago, ni quien pregunte a los muertos.
Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 Porque es abominación al SEÑOR cualquiera que hace estas cosas, y por estas abominaciones el SEÑOR tu Dios los echó de delante de ti.
For all that do these things are an abomination unto Yhwh: and because of these abominations Yhwh thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13 Perfecto serás con el SEÑOR tu Dios.
Thou shalt be perfect with Yhwh thy God.
14 Porque estos gentiles que has de heredar, a agoreros y hechiceros oyen; mas tú, no así te ha instruido el SEÑOR tu Dios.
For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, Yhwh thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
15 Profeta de en medio de ti, de tus hermanos, como yo, te levantará el SEÑOR tu Dios; a él oiréis.
Yhwh thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
16 Conforme a todas las cosas que pediste al SEÑOR tu Dios en Horeb el día de la asamblea, diciendo: No vuelva yo a oír la voz del SEÑOR mi Dios, ni vea yo más este gran fuego, para que no muera.
According to all that thou desiredst of Yhwh thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Yhwh my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
17 Y el SEÑOR me dijo: Han hablado bien lo que han dicho.
And Yhwh said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18 Profeta les despertaré de en medio de sus hermanos, como tú; y pondré mis palabras en su boca, y él les hablará todo lo que yo le mandare.
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 Mas será, que cualquiera que no oyere mis palabras que él hablare en mi nombre, yo le pediré cuenta.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
20 Pero el profeta que presumiere de hablar palabra en mi nombre, que yo no le haya mandado hablar, o que hablare en nombre de dioses ajenos, el tal profeta morirá.
But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 Y si dijeres en tu corazón: ¿Cómo conoceremos la palabra que el SEÑOR no hubiere hablado?
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which Yhwh hath not spoken?
22 Cuando el profeta hablare en nombre del SEÑOR, y no fuere la tal cosa, ni viniere, es palabra que el SEÑOR no ha hablado; con soberbia la habló el tal profeta; no tengas temor de él.
When a prophet speaketh in the name of Yhwh, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Yhwh hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
