2 Samuel 13

1 Aconteció después de esto, que teniendo Absalón hijo de David una hermana hermosa que se llamaba Tamar, se enamoró de ella Amnón hijo de David.

And it came to pass after this, that Abshalom the son of David had a handsome sister, whose name was Thamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

2 Y estaba Amnón angustiado hasta enfermar, por Tamar su hermana; porque por ser ella virgen, parecía a Amnón que sería cosa dificultosa hacerle algo.

And Amnon worried himself so that he fell sick on account of Thamar his sister; for she was a virgin; and it was impossible in the eyes of Amnon to do her the least [harm].

3 Y Amnón tenía un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab, hijo de Simea, hermano de David; y era Jonadab hombre muy astuto.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Yonadab, the son of Shim'ah, David's brother; and Yonadab was a very sensible man.

4 Y éste le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿por qué de día en día vas así enflaqueciendo? ¿No me lo descubrirás a mí? Y Amnón le respondió: Yo amo a Tamar la hermana de Absalón mi hermano.

And he said to him, Why art thou so wasted, O prince, morning after morning? Wilt thou not tell me? Then said Amnon to him, Thamar the sister of Abshalom my brother do I love.

5 Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre viniere a visitarte, dile: Te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar, para que me conforte con alguna comida, y aderece delante de mí alguna vianda, para que viendo yo, la coma de su mano.

And Yonadab said to him, Lie down on thy couch, and feign thyself sick; and when thy father cometh to see thee, thou must say unto him, Let, I pray thee, Thamar my sister come, and give me some food, and prepare the refreshment before my eyes, in order that I may see it, and eat it out of her hand.

6 Se acostó, pues, Amnón, y fingió que estaba enfermo, y vino el rey a visitarle; y dijo Amnón al rey: Yo te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar, y haga delante de mí dos hojuelas, que coma yo de su mano.

So Amnon lay down, and feigned himself sick; and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, Let, I pray thee, Thamar my sister come, and mix up before my eyes a couple of cakes, that I may enjoy them out of her hand.

7 Y David envió a Tamar a su casa, diciendo: Ve ahora a casa de Amnón tu hermano, y hazle de comer.

Then did David send home to Thamar, saying, Do go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and prepare for him the refreshment.

8 Entonces fue Tamar a casa de su hermano Amnón, el cual estaba acostado; y tomó harina, y amasó e hizo hojuelas delante de él, y las aderezó.

So Thamar went to the house of Amnon her brother, and he was lying down; and she took the dough and kneaded, and mixed it up before his eyes, and baked the cakes;

9 Tomó luego la sartén, y las sacó delante de él; mas él no quiso comer. Y dijo Amnón: Echad fuera de aquí a todos. Y todos se salieron de allí.

And she took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat; and Amnon said, Cause every man to go out from me; and they went out, every man, from him.

10 Entonces Amnón dijo a Tamar: Trae la comida a la alcoba, para que yo coma de tu mano. Y tomando Tamar las hojuelas que había aderezado, las llevó a su hermano Amnón a la alcoba.

And Amnon said to Thamar, Bring the refreshment into the chamber, that I may enjoy it out of thy hand. So Thamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them unto Amnon her brother into the chamber.

11 Y cuando ella se las puso delante para que comiese, él trabó de ella, diciéndole: Ven, hermana mía acuéstate conmigo.

And when she had brought them near unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come, lie with me, my sister.

12 Ella entonces le respondió: No, hermano mío, no me hagas fuerza; porque no se hace así en Israel. No hagas tal locura.

But she said to him, No, my brother, do not violate me; for such a deed ought not to be done in Israel; do not this scandalous act!

13 Porque, ¿dónde iría yo con mi deshonra? Y aun tú serías estimado como uno de los locos de Israel. Te ruego, pues, ahora que hables al rey, que no me negará a ti.

And I, whither should I carry my shame? and as for thee, thou wouldst be like one of the worthless in Israel; but now, O speak, I pray thee, unto the king, for he will not withhold me from thee.

14 Mas él no la quiso oír; antes pudiendo más que ella la forzó, y se echó con ella.

Nevertheless, he would not hearken unto her voice; but he overpowered her, and violated her, and lay with her.

15 La aborreció luego Amnón de tan grande aborrecimiento, que el odio con que la aborreció después fue mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y le dijo Amnón: Levántate y vete.

Then did Amnon hate her with a very great hatred; so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her; and Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

16 Y ella le respondió: No es razón; mayor mal es éste de echarme, que el que me has hecho. Mas él no la quiso oír;

And she said unto him, [Do] not add this yet greater wrong than the other which thou hast done with me, to send me [now] away! But he would not listen to her;

17 antes llamando a su criado que le servía le dijo: Echame ésta allá fuera, y tras ella cierra la puerta.

And he called his young man, his servant, and said, Do send this woman away from me, into the street, and lock the door behind her.

18 (Y tenía ella sobre sí una ropa de colores, traje que las hijas vírgenes de los reyes vestían.) Y su criado la echó pues fuera, y cerró la puerta tras ella.

And she had on a garment of divers colors; for thus were usually appareled the king's daughters when virgins, in robes; and his servant brought her out into the street, and locked the door behind her.

19 Entonces Tamar tomó ceniza, y la esparció sobre su cabeza, y rasgó su ropa de colores de que estaba vestida, y puestas sus manos sobre su cabeza, se fue gritando.

And Thamar put ashes on her head, and the garment of divers colors which was on her she rent: and she placed her hand on her head, and went away and cried as she went along.

20 Y le dijo su hermano Absalón: ¿Ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Pues calla ahora, hermana mía; tu hermano es; no pongas tu corazón en este negocio. Y se quedó Tamar desconsolada en casa de Absalón su hermano.

Then said to her Abshalom her brother, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but now, my sister, keep silence, he is thy brother, take this thing not to thy heart. So Thamar remained, and was secluded in the house of Abshalom her brother.

21 Y luego que el rey David oyó todo esto, fue muy enojado.

And when king David heard all these things, it displeased him greatly.

22 Mas Absalón no habló con Amnón ni malo ni bueno, bien que Absalón aborrecía a Amnón, porque había forzado a Tamar su hermana.

And Abshalom spoke not with Amnon either bad or good; for Abshalom hated Amnon, because he had violated Thamar his sister.

23 Y aconteció pasados dos años, que Absalón tenía esquiladores en Bala-hazor, que está junto a Efraín; y convidó Absalón a todos los hijos del rey.

And it came to pass after two full years, that Abshalom had sheep-shearers at Ba'al-chazor, which is near Ephraim; and Abshalom invited all the king's sons.

24 Y vino Absalón al rey, y le dijo: He aquí, tu siervo tiene ahora esquiladores; yo ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.

And Abshalom came to the king, and said, Behold, now, thy servant hath sheep-shearers; let the king, I pray thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

25 Y respondió el rey a Absalón: No, hijo mío, no vamos todos, para que no te hagamos costa. Y aunque porfió con él, no quiso ir, mas lo bendijo.

And the king said to Abshalom, No, my son, do not let us all go now, that we may not be a burden upon thee. And he urged him much, but he would not go, and he blessed him.

26 Entonces dijo Absalón: Si no, te ruego que venga con nosotros Amnón mi hermano. Y el rey le respondió: ¿Para qué ha de ir contigo?

And Abshalom said, If not, let, I pray thee, Amnon my brother go with us. And the king said to him, Why should he go with thee?

27 Y como Absalón lo importunase, dejó ir con él a Amnón y a todos los hijos del rey.

But Abshalom urged him greatly, and he sent with him Amnon and all the sons of the king.

28 Y había Absalón dado orden a sus criados, diciendo: Ahora bien, mirad cuando el corazón de Amnón estará alegre del vino, y cuando yo os dijere: Herid a Amnón, entonces matadle, y no temáis; que yo os lo he mandado. Esforzaos pues, y sed valientes.

Now Abshalom commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye, I pray you, when Annon's heart is merry with wine, and I say unto you, Smite Amnon: then kill him, fear not; behold, it is I who command it you; be firm and show yourselves men of valor.

29 Y los criados de Absalón hicieron con Amnón como Absalón lo había mandado. Se levantaron luego todos los hijos del rey, y subieron todos en sus mulos, y huyeron.

And the servants of Abshalom did unto Amnon as Abshalom had commanded. Then arose all the king's sons, and they rode off, every man on his mule, and fled.

30 Y estando aún ellos en el camino, llegó a David el rumor que decía: Absalón ha muerto a todos los hijos del rey, que ninguno de ellos ha quedado.

And it happened, while they were on the way, that the report came to David, saying, Abshalom hath smitten all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

31 Entonces levantándose David, rasgó sus vestidos, y se echó en tierra, y todos sus siervos tenían rasgados sus vestidos.

Then arose the king and rent his garments, and laid himself on the earth: and all his servants were standing by with their garments rent.

32 Y Jonadab, hijo de Simea hermano de David, habló y dijo: No diga mi señor que han muerto a todos los jóvenes hijos del rey, ya que sólo Amnón es muerto; porque en la boca de Absalón estaba puesto desde el día que Amnón forzó a Tamar su hermana.

But Yonadab the son of Shim'ah, David's brother, commenced and said, Let not my Lord suppose that they have slain all the young men, the king's sons; since Amnon alone is dead; for by the command of Abshalom was this ordained from the day that he violated Thamar his sister.

33 Por tanto, ahora no ponga mi señor el rey en su corazón tal palabra que dice: Todos los hijos del rey son muertos; porque sólo Amnón es muerto.

And now let not my Lord the king take the thing to his heart, thinking, that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon alone is dead.

34 Absalón huyó luego. Entre tanto, alzando sus ojos el joven que estaba en atalaya, miró, y he aquí mucho pueblo que venía a sus espaldas por el camino de hacia el monte.

And Abshalom flew away. And the young man that was watching lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, many people were coming by the way behind him, by the side of the mount.

35 Y dijo Jonadab al rey: He allí los hijos del rey que vienen; porque así es como tu siervo ha dicho.

And Yonadab said to the king, The king's sons are come: according to the word of thy servant, so hath it come to pass.

36 Y cuando él acabó de hablar, he aquí los hijos del rey que vinieron, y alzando su voz lloraron. Y también el mismo rey y todos sus siervos lloraron con muy grandes lamentos.

And it happened, as he had just finished speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and they lifted up their voice and wept; and also the king and all his servants wept very much.

37 Mas Absalón huyó, y se fue a Talmai hijo de Amiud, rey de Gesur. Y David lloraba por su hijo todos los días.

But Abshalom had fled; and he went to Talmai, the son of 'Ammihud, the king of Geshur: and [David] mourned for his son all the time.

38 Y después que Absalón huyó y se fue a Gesur, estuvo allá tres años.

So did Abshalom fly, and go to Geshur, and he remained there three years.

39 Y el rey David deseó ver a Absalón; porque ya estaba consolado acerca de Amnón que era muerto.

And [the soul of] king David longed to go forth unto Abshalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, that he was dead.
