1 Samuel 26

1 Y vinieron los zifeos a Saúl en Gabaa, diciendo: ¿No está David escondido en el collado de Haquila delante del desierto?

And the Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, facing the waste?

2 Saúl entonces se levantó, y descendió al desierto de Zif, llevando consigo tres mil hombres escogidos de Israel, para buscar a David en el desierto de Zif.

And Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

3 Y asentó Saúl el campamento en el collado de Haquila, que está delante del desierto junto al camino. Y estaba David en el desierto, y entendió que Saúl le seguía en el desierto.

And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which faces the waste, by the way side. And David abode in the wilderness; and when he saw that Saul had come after him into the wilderness,

4 David, por tanto envió espías, y entendió por cierto que Saúl venía.

David sent out spies, and learned that Saul was certainly come.

5 Y se levantó David, y vino al sitio donde Saúl había asentado el campamento; y miró David el lugar donde dormía Saúl, y Abner hijo de Ner, general de su ejército. Y Saúl dormía en la trinchera, y el pueblo estaba por el campamento en derredor de él.

And David arose and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host; and Saul lay within the wagon-defence, and the people were encamped round about him.

6 Entonces habló David, y dijo a Ahimelec heteo, y a Abisai hijo de Sarvia, hermano de Joab, diciendo: ¿Quién descenderá conmigo a Saúl al campamento? Y dijo Abisai: Yo descenderé contigo.

And David spake and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

7 David, pues, y Abisai vinieron al pueblo de noche; y he aquí Saúl que estaba tendido durmiendo en la trinchera, y su lanza hincada en tierra a su cabecera; y Abner y el pueblo estaban alrededor de él tendidos.

And David and Abishai came to the people by night, and behold, Saul lay sleeping within the wagon-defence, and his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay round about him.

8 Entonces dijo Abisai a David: Hoy ha entregado Dios a tu enemigo en tus manos; ahora, pues, lo heriré presto con la lanza, y lo enclavaré en la tierra de un golpe, y no segundaré.

And Abishai said to David, God has delivered thine enemy into thy hand this day; and now let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear, even to the ground once, and I will not do it the second time.

9 Y David respondió a Abisai: No le mates; porque ¿quién extendió su mano contra el ungido del SEÑOR, y fue inocente?

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not; for who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed, and be guiltless?

10 Dijo además David: Vive el SEÑOR, que si el SEÑOR no lo hiriere, o que su día llegue para que muera, o que descendiendo en batalla perezca,

And David said, [As] Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will surely smite him; either his day shall come to die, or he shall descend into battle and perish.

11 me guarde el SEÑOR de extender mi mano contra el ungido del SEÑOR; pero toma ahora la lanza que está a su cabecera, y la botija del agua, y vámonos.

Jehovah forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed! But now take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

12 Se llevó, pues, David la lanza y la botija de agua de la cabecera de Saúl, y se fueron; que no hubo nadie que viese, ni entendiese, ni velase, pues todos dormían; porque un profundo sueño enviado del SEÑOR había caído sobre ellos.

And David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's head; and they went away, and no man saw [it], and none knew [it], and none awaked, for they were all asleep; for a deep sleep from Jehovah had fallen upon them.

13 Y pasando David al otro lado, se puso fuera del camino en la cumbre del monte, habiendo gran distancia entre ellos;

And David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off; a great space [being] between them.

14 y dio voces David al pueblo, y a Abner hijo de Ner, diciendo: ¿No respondes, Abner? Entonces Abner respondió y dijo: ¿Quién eres tú que das voces al rey?

And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?

15 Y dijo David a Abner: ¿No eres varón tú? ¿Y quién hay como tú en Israel? ¿Por qué, pues, no has guardado al rey tu señor? Que ha entrado uno del pueblo a matar a tu señor el rey.

And David said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like to thee in Israel? and why hast thou not guarded thy lord the king? for one of the people came in to destroy the king thy lord.

16 Esto que has hecho, no está bien. Vive el SEÑOR, que sois dignos de muerte, que no habéis guardado a vuestro señor, al ungido del SEÑOR. Mira, pues, ahora dónde está la lanza del rey, y la botija del agua que estaba a su cabecera.

This thing is not good which thou hast done. As Jehovah liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not guarded your master, Jehovah's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head.

17 Y conociendo Saúl la voz de David, dijo: ¿No es ésta tu voz, hijo mío David? Y David respondió: Mi voz es, rey señor mío.

And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.

18 Y dijo: ¿Por qué persigue así mi señor a su siervo? ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué mal hay en mi mano?

And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?

19 Ruego, pues, que el rey mi señor oiga ahora las palabras de su siervo. Si el SEÑOR te incita contra mí, huela él el olor del sacrificio; mas si fueren hijos de hombres, malditos sean ellos en presencia del SEÑOR, que me han echado hoy para que no me junte en la heredad del SEÑOR, diciendo: Ve y sirve a dioses ajenos.

And now, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If Jehovah have moved thee against me, let him accept an oblation; but if the sons of men, cursed be they before Jehovah; for they have driven me out this day from adhering to the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods.

20 No caiga, pues, ahora mi sangre en tierra delante del SEÑOR; porque ha salido el rey de Israel a buscar una pulga, así como quien persigue una perdiz por los montes.

And now, let not my blood fall to the earth far from the face of Jehovah; for the king of Israel is come out to seek a single flea, as when they hunt a partridge on the mountains.

21 Entonces dijo Saúl: He pecado; vuélvete, hijo mío David, que ningún mal te haré más, pues que mi vida ha sido estimada hoy en tus ojos. He aquí, yo he hecho locamente, y he errado mucho y en gran manera.

And Saul said, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have acted foolishly, and have erred exceedingly.

22 Y David respondió, y dijo: He aquí la lanza del rey; pase acá uno de los criados, y tómela.

And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear, and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

23 Y el SEÑOR pague a cada uno su justicia y su lealtad; que el SEÑOR te había entregado hoy en mi mano, mas yo no quise extender mi mano sobre el ungido del SEÑOR.

And Jehovah will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for Jehovah gave thee into [my] hand this day, and I would not stretch forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed.

24 Y he aquí, como tu vida ha sido estimada hoy en mis ojos, así sea mi vida estimada en los ojos del SEÑOR, y me libre de toda aflicción.

And behold, as thy life was highly esteemed this day in mine eyes, so let my life be highly esteemed in the eyes of Jehovah, that he may deliver me out of all distress.

25 Y Saúl dijo a David: Bendito eres tú, hijo mío David; sin duda ejecutarás tú grandes empresas, y prevalecerás. Entonces David se fue su camino, y Saúl se volvió a su lugar.

And Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt certainly do [great things], and shalt certainly prevail. And David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
