1 Reyes 10

1 Y oyendo la reina de Sabá la fama de Salomón en el nombre del SEÑOR, vino a tentarle con preguntas.

Now when the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with difficult questions.

2 Y vino a Jerusalén con muy grande ejército, con camellos cargados de especias, y oro en grande abundancia, y piedras preciosas; y cuando vino a Salomón, le propuso todo lo que tenía en su corazón.

She arrived in Jerusalem with a very large caravan—with camels bearing spices, gold in great abundance, and precious stones. So she came to Solomon and spoke to him all that was on her mind.

3 Y Salomón le declaró todas sus preguntas; ninguna cosa se le escondió al rey, que no le declarase.

And Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for the king to explain.

4 Y cuando la reina de Sabá vio toda la sabiduría de Salomón, y la Casa que había edificado,

When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon, the palace he had built,

5 asimismo la comida de su mesa, el asiento de sus siervos, el estado y vestidos de los que le servían, sus maestresalas, y sus holocaustos que sacrificaba en la Casa del SEÑOR, no hubo más espíritu en ella.

the food at his table, the seating of his servants, the service and attire of his attendants and cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he presented at the house of the LORD, it took her breath away.

6 Y dijo al rey: Verdad es lo que oí en mi tierra de tus cosas y de tu sabiduría;

She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your words and wisdom is true.

7 mas yo no lo creía, hasta que he venido, y mis ojos han visto, que ni aun se me dijo la mitad. Tu sabiduría y bien es mayor que la fama que yo había oído.

But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told to me. Your wisdom and prosperity have far exceeded the report I heard.

8 Bienaventurados tus varones, bienaventurados éstos tus siervos, que están continuamente delante de ti, y oyen tu sabiduría.

How blessed are your men! How blessed are these servants of yours who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

9 El SEÑOR tu Dios sea bendito, que se agradó de ti para ponerte en el trono de Israel; porque el SEÑOR ha amado siempre a Israel, y te ha puesto por rey, para que hagas derecho y justicia.

Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, He has made you king to carry out justice and righteousness.”

10 Y dio la reina al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, y muchísima especiería, y piedras preciosas; nunca vino después tan grande copia de especias, como la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón.

Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, a great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was such an abundance of spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11 La flota de Hiram que había traído el oro de Ofir, traía también de Ofir mucha madera de brasil, y piedras preciosas.

(The fleet of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir also brought from Ophir a great cargo of almug wood and precious stones.

12 Y de la madera de brasil hizo el rey balaustres para la Casa del SEÑOR, y para las casas reales, y arpas y salterios para los cantores; nunca vino tanta madera de brasil, ni se ha visto hasta hoy.

The king made the almug wood into steps for the house of the LORD and for the king’s palace, and into lyres and harps for the singers. Never before had such almug wood been brought in, nor has such been seen to this day.)

13 Y el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que quiso, y todo lo que pidió, además de lo que Salomón le dio conforme a su grandeza. Y ella se volvió, y se fue a su tierra con sus criados.

King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired—whatever she asked—besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she left and returned to her own country, along with her servants.

14 El peso del oro que Salomón tenía de renta cada año, era seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro;

The weight of gold that came to Solomon each year was 666 talents,

15 sin lo de los mercaderes, y de la contratación de especias, y de todos los reyes de Arabia, y de los príncipes de la tierra.

not including the revenue from the merchants, traders, and all the Arabian kings and governors of the land.

16 Hizo también el rey Salomón doscientos paveses de oro extendido; seiscientos siclos de oro gastó en cada pavés.

King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of gold went into each shield.

17 Asimismo trescientos escudos de oro extendido, en cada uno de los cuales gastó tres libras de oro; y los puso el rey en la casa del bosque del Líbano.

He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold; three minas of gold went into each shield. And the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

18 Hizo también el rey un gran trono de marfil, el cual cubrió de oro purísimo.

Additionally, the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.

19 Seis gradas tenía el trono, y lo alto de él era redondo por el respaldo; y por un lado y por la otra tenía apoyos cerca del asiento, junto a los cuales estaban colocados dos leones.

The throne had six steps, and its back had a rounded top. There were armrests on both sides of the seat, with a lion standing beside each armrest.

20 Estaban también doce leones puestos allí sobre las seis gradas, de un lado y del otro; en ningún otro reino se había hecho trono semejante.

Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like this had ever been made for any kingdom.

21 Y todos los vasos de beber del rey Salomón eran de oro, y asimismo toda la vajilla de la casa del bosque del Líbano era de oro fino; no había plata; porque en tiempo de Salomón no era de estima.

All King Solomon’s drinking cups were gold, and all the utensils of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. There was no silver, because it was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon.

22 Porque el rey tenía la flota del mar en Tarsis, con la flota de Hiram. Una vez cada tres años venía la flota de Tarsis, y traía oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos.

For the king had the ships of Tarshish at sea with Hiram’s fleet, and once every three years the ships of Tarshish would arrive bearing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

23 Y excedía el rey Salomón a todos los reyes de la tierra así en riquezas como en sabiduría.

So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

24 Toda la tierra procuraba ver la cara de Salomón, para oír su sabiduría, la cual Dios había puesto en su corazón.

The whole world sought an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom that God had put in his heart.

25 Y todos le llevaban cada año sus presentes: vasos de oro, vasos de plata, vestidos, armas, especiería, caballos y mulos.

Year after year, each visitor would bring his tribute: articles of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, horses, and mules.

26 Y juntó Salomón carros y gente de a caballo; y tenía mil cuatrocientos carros, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades de los carros, y con el rey en Jerusalén.

Solomon accumulated 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.

27 Y el rey hizo que en Jerusalén la plata llegara a ser como piedras, y cedros como los cabrahigos que están por los campos en abundancia.

The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as abundant as sycamore in the foothills.

28 Y sacaban caballos y lienzos a Salomón de Egipto; porque la compañía de los mercaderes del rey compraban caballos y lienzos.

Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and Kue; the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.

29 Y venía y salía de Egipto, el carro por seiscientas piezas de plata, y el caballo por ciento cincuenta; y así los suministraban por mano de ellos a todos los reyes de los heteos, y de Siria.

A chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. Likewise, they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of Aram.
