1 Crónicas 21
1 Mas Satanás se levantó contra Israel, e incitó a David a que contase a Israel.
And the devil stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
2 Y dijo David a Joab y a los príncipes del pueblo: Id, contad a Israel desde Beerseba hasta Dan, y traedme el número de ellos para que yo lo sepa.
And king David said to Joab and to the captains of the forces, Go, number Israel from Bersabee even to Dan, and bring me [the account], and I shall know their number.
3 Y dijo Joab: Añada el SEÑOR a su pueblo cien veces otros tantos. Rey señor mío, ¿no son todos estos siervos de mi señor? ¿Para qué procura mi señor esto, para que sea por pecado a Israel?
And Joab said, May the Lord add to his people, a hundred-fold as many as they [are], and [let] the eyes of my lord the king see [it]: all [are] the servants of my lord. Why does my lord seek this thing? [do it not], lest it become a sin to Israel.
4 Mas el mandamiento del rey pudo más que Joab. Salió, por tanto, Joab, y fue por todo Israel; y volvió a Jerusalén. Y Joab dio la cuenta del número del pueblo a David.
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab; and Joab went out and passed through all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Y se halló en todo Israel que sacaban espada, once veces cien mil; y de Judá cuatrocientos setenta mil hombres que sacaban espada.
And Joab gave the number of the mustering of the people to David: and all Israel was a million and a hundred thousand men that drew sword: and the sons of Juda [were] four hundred and seventy thousand men that drew sword.
6 Entre estos no fueron contados los levitas, ni los hijos de Benjamín, porque Joab abominaba el mandamiento del rey.
But he numbered not Levi and Benjamin among them; for the word of the king was painful to Joab.
7 Este mandamiento también desagradó a los ojos de Dios, e hirió a Israel.
And [there was] evil in the sight of the Lord respecting this thing; and he struck Israel.
8 Y dijo David a Dios: He pecado gravemente en hacer esto; te ruego que hagas pasar la iniquidad de tu siervo, porque yo he hecho muy locamente.
And David said to God, I have sinned exceedingly, in that I have done this thing: and now, I pray you, remove the sin of your servant; for I have been exceedingly foolish.
9 Y habló el SEÑOR a Gad, vidente de David, diciendo:
And the Lord spoke to Gad the seer, saying,
10 Ve, y habla a David, y dile: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Tres cosas te propongo; escoge de ellas una que yo haga contigo.
Go and speak to David, saying, Thus says the Lord, I bring three things upon you: choose one of them for yourself, and I will do it to you.
11 Y viniendo Gad a David, le dijo: Así dijo el SEÑOR:
And Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus says the Lord, Choose for yourself,
12 Escógete, o tres años de hambre; o que por tres meses seas consumido delante de tus enemigos, y que el cuchillo de tus adversarios te alcance; o por tres días el cuchillo del SEÑOR y pestilencia en la tierra, y que el ángel del SEÑOR destruya en todo el término de Israel; mira pues qué he de responder al que me ha enviado.
either three years of famine, or that you should flee three months from the face of your enemies, and the sword of your enemies [shall be employed] to destroy you, or that the sword of the Lord and pestilence [should be] three days in the land, and the angel of the Lord [shall be] destroying in all the inheritance of Israel. And now consider what I shall answer to him that sent the message.
13 Entonces David dijo a Gad: Estoy en grande angustia; ruego que yo caiga en la mano del SEÑOR; porque sus misericordias son muchas en extremo, y que no caiga yo en manos de hombres.
And David said to Gad, They are very hard for me, even [all] the three: let me fall now into the hands of the Lord, for his mercies [are] very abundant, and let me not fall by any means into the hands of man.
14 Así el SEÑOR dio pestilencia en Israel, y cayeron de Israel setenta mil hombres.
So the Lord brought pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 Y envió el SEÑOR el ángel a Jerusalén para destruirla; pero estando él destruyendo, miró el SEÑOR, y se arrepintió de aquel mal. Y dijo al ángel que destruía: Basta; detén tu mano. Y el ángel del SEÑOR estaba junto a la era de Ornán jebuseo.
And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord saw, and repented for the evil, and said to the angel that was destroying, Let it suffice you; withhold your hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite.
16 Y alzando David sus ojos, vio al ángel del SEÑOR, que estaba entre el cielo y la tierra, teniendo una espada desnuda en su mano extendida contra Jerusalén. Entonces David y los ancianos se postraron sobre sus rostros, cubiertos de cilicio.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord, standing between the earth and the heaven, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem: and David and the elders clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 Y dijo David a Dios: ¿No soy yo el que hizo contar el pueblo? Yo mismo soy el que pequé, y ciertamente he hecho mal; mas estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? SEÑOR Dios mío, sea ahora tu mano contra mí, y contra la casa de mi padre, y no haya plaga en tu pueblo.
And David said to God, [Was it] not I [that] gave orders to number the people? and I am the guilty one; I have greatly sinned: but these sheep, what have they done? O Lord God, let your hand be upon me, and upon my father's house, and not on your people for destruction, O Lord!
18 Y dijo el ángel del SEÑOR a Gad que dijese a David, que subiese y compusiese un altar al SEÑOR en la era de Ornán jebuseo.
And the angel of the Lord told Gad to tell David, that he should go up to erect and altar to the Lord, in the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite.
19 Entonces David subió, conforme a la palabra de Gad que le había dicho en nombre del SEÑOR.
And David went up according to the word of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the Lord.
20 Y volviéndose Ornán vio el ángel; y estaban con él cuatro hijos suyos, los cuales se escondieron. Y Ornán trillaba el trigo.
And Orna turned and saw the king; and he hid himself and his four sons with him. Now Orna was threshing wheat.
21 Y viniendo David a Ornán, miró Ornán y vio a David; y saliendo de la era, se postró en tierra a David.
And David came to Orna; and Orna came forth from the threshing floor, and did obeisance to David with his face to the ground.
22 Y dijo David a Ornán: Dame este lugar de la era, en que edifique un altar al SEÑOR, y dámelo por su cabal precio, para que cese la plaga del pueblo.
And David said to Orna, Give me your place of the threshing floor, and I will build upon it an altar to the Lord: give it me for its worth in money, and the plague shall cease from [among] the people.
23 Y Ornán respondió a David: Tómalo para ti, y haga mi señor el rey lo que bien le pareciere; y aun los bueyes daré para el holocausto, y los trillos para leña, y trigo para el presente; yo lo doy todo.
And Orna said to David, Take it to yourself, and let my lord the king do what is right in his eyes: see, I have given the calves for a whole burnt offering, and the plow for wood, and the corn for a meat-offering; I have given all.
24 Entonces el rey David dijo a Ornán: No, sino que efectivamente la compraré por su justo precio; porque no tomaré para el SEÑOR lo que es tuyo, ni sacrificaré holocausto de gracia.
And king David said to Orna, Nay; for I will surely buy it for its worth in money: for I will not take your property for the Lord, to offer a whole burnt offering to the Lord without cost [to myself].
25 Y dio David a Ornán por el lugar seiscientos siclos de oro por peso.
And David gave to Orna for his place six hundred shekels of gold [by] weight.
26 Y edificó allí David un altar al SEÑOR, en el cual sacrificó holocaustos y sacrificios pacíficos, e invocó al SEÑOR, el cual le respondió por fuego de los cielos en el altar del holocausto.
And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered up whole burnt offerings and peace-offerings: and he cried to the Lord, and he answered him by fire out of heaven on the altar of whole burnt offerings, and [it] consumed the whole burnt offering.
27 Y cuando el SEÑOR habló al ángel, él volvió su espada a la vaina.
And the Lord spoke to the angel; and he put up the sword into its sheath.
28 Entonces viendo David que el SEÑOR le había oído en la era de Ornán jebuseo, sacrificó allí.
At that time when David saw that the Lord answered him in the threshing floor of Orna the Jebusite, he also sacrificed there.
29 Y el tabernáculo del SEÑOR que Moisés había hecho en el desierto, y el altar del holocausto, estaban entonces en el alto de Gabaón;
And the tabernacle of the Lord which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of whole burnt offerings, [were] at that time in the high place at Gabaon.
30 mas David no pudo ir allá a consultar a Dios, porque estaba espantado a causa del cuchillo del ángel del SEÑOR.
And David could not go before it to enquire of God; for he hasted not because of the sword of the angel of the Lord.
