1 Entonces todo Israel se juntó a David en Hebrón, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tu hueso y tu carne.

Then did all Israel gather themselves unto David unto Hebron, saying Behold, thy bone and thy flesh are we.

2 Y además de esto ayer y anteayer, aun mientras Saúl reinaba, tú sacabas y metías a Israel. También el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel mi pueblo.

Already yesterday and even before, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that led out and brought in Israel; and the Lord, thy God, said unto thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be truly a chief over my people Israel.

3 Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo con ellos alianza delante del SEÑOR; y ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR por mano de Samuel.

Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David as king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through means of Samuel.

4 Entonces se fue David con todo Israel a Jerusalén, la cual es Jebus; porque allí el jebuseo era habitador de aquella tierra.

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; and there were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

5 Y los moradores de Jebus dijeron a David: No entrarás acá. Mas David tomó la fortaleza de Sion, que es la ciudad de David.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion, the same is the City of David.

6 Y David dijo: El que primero hiriere al jebuseo, será cabeza y príncipe. Entonces Joab hijo de Sarvia subió el primero, y fue hecho príncipe.

And David said, Whosoever doth smite the Jebusites at first shall be head and chief. Then did Joab the son of Zeruyah go up at first, and became head-man.

7 Y David habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto la llamaron la ciudad de David.

And David dwelt in the castle: therefore they called it, “The City of David.”

8 Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde Millo hasta la cerca; y Joab edificó el resto de la ciudad.

And he built the city round about, even from the Millo as far as the surrounding district, and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

9 Y David iba adelantando y creciendo, y el SEÑOR de los ejércitos era con él.

And David want on, and became greater and greater, and the lord of hosts was with him.

10 Estos son los capitanes de los valientes que David tuvo, y los que le ayudaron en su reino, con todo Israel, para hacerle rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR.

These also are the principals of the mighty men whom David had, who held firmly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

11 Y este es el número de los valientes que David tuvo: Jasobeam hijo de Hacmoni, príncipe de los treinta, el cual blandió su lanza una vez contra trescientos, a los cuales mató.

And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashoh'am, the son of Chachmoni, the chief of the captains, who lifted up his spear against three hundred slain at one time.

12 Tras de éste fue Eleazar hijo de Dodo, ahohíta, el cual era de los tres valientes.

And after him was El'asar the son of Dodo, the Achochite, who was one of the three mighty men.

13 Este estuvo con David en Pasdamim, estando allí juntos en batalla los filisteos; y había allí una heredad de tierra llena de cebada, y huyendo el pueblo delante de los filisteos,

He was with David at Pass-dammim, and the Philistines were gathered together there to battle, and there was a piece of ground full of barley; and the people had fled from before the Philistines.

14 se pusieron ellos en medio del cultivo, y la defendieron, y vencieron a los filisteos; y los salvó el SEÑOR de gran salud.

And they placed themselves in the midst of that piece [of ground], and they delivered it, and smote the Philistines: and the Lord helped [them] with a great victory.

15 Y tres de los treinta principales descendieron a la peña a David, a la cueva de Adulam, estando el campamento de los filisteos en el valle de Rafaim.

And these three, the chiefs of the thirty, went down to the rock to David, to the cave of 'Adullam; and the camp of the Philistines was pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

16 Y David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de filisteos estaba en Belén.

And David was then in the strong-hold, and an outpost of the Philistines was then at Beth-lechem.

17 David deseó entonces, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber de las aguas del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

And David longed, and said, Oh that some one would bring me water to drink out of the well of Beth-lechem, which is by the gate!

18 Y aquellos tres rompieron por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta, y tomaron y la trajeron a David; mas él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó al SEÑOR, y dijo:

And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lechem, which was by the gate, and carried it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink thereof, and poured it out unto the Lord.

19 Guárdeme mi Dios de hacer esto. ¿Había yo de beber la sangre de estos varones con sus vidas, que con peligro de sus vidas la han traído? Y no la quiso beber. Esto hicieron aquellos tres valientes.

And he said, Far be it from me, before my God, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that went at the risk of their lives? for at the risk of their lives did they bring it; and thus he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

20 Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era cabeza de los tres, el cual blandió su lanza sobre trescientos, a los cuales hirió; y fue entre los tres nombrado.

And Abshai the brother of Joab was the chief of these three; and he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain, and had a name among the three.

21 Y fue el más ilustre de los tres en el segundo ternario, y fue príncipe de ellos; mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

Of the three, he was more honored than the two, wherefore he became their captain; he nevertheless attained not unto the three [in prowess].

22 Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de varón de esfuerzo, de grandes hechos, de Cabseel; él venció los dos leones de Moab; también descendió, e hirió un león en mitad de un foso en tiempo de nieve.

Banayah the son of Jehoyada', the son of a valiant man, great in many acts, of Kah-zeel: he it was that smote the two lion-like heroes of Moab; he also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a day when it snowed.

23 El mismo venció a un egipcio, hombre de cinco codos de estatura; y el egipcio traía una lanza como un rodillo de un telar; mas él descendió a él con un bastón, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con su misma lanza.

And he smote an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and he snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

24 Esto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y fue nombrado entre los tres valientes.

These things did Benayah the son of Jehoyada'; and he had a name among the mighty men.

25 Y fue el más honrado de los treinta, mas no llegó a los tres primeros. A éste puso David en su consejo.

Behold, he was indeed more honored than the thirty; but he attained not to the first three. And David appointed him over his private council.

26 Y los valientes de los ejércitos: Asael hermano de Joab, y Elhanan hijo de Dodo de Belén;

And the mighty men of the armies were, 'Assahel the brother of Joab, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lechem.

27 Samot de Arori, Heles pelonita;

Shammoth the Harorite, Chelez the Pelonite,

28 Ira hijo de Iques tecoíta, Abiezer anatotita;

'Ira the son of 'Ikkesh the Theko'ite, Abi'ezer the 'Antothite,

29 Sibecai husatita, Ilai ahohíta;

Sibbechai the Chushathite, 'Ilai the Achochite,
