Proverbios 14
1 LA mujer sabia edifica su casa: mas la necia con sus manos la derriba.
The wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish teareth it down with her hands.
2 El que camina en su rectitud teme á Jehová: mas el pervertido en sus caminos lo menosprecia.
He who walketh in uprightness feareth the LORD; But he who is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 En la boca del necio está la vara de la soberbia: mas los labios de los sabios los guardarán.
In the mouth of the foolish pride is a scourge; But the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 Sin bueyes el granero está limpio: mas por la fuerza del buey hay abundancia de pan.
Where there are no oxen, the crib is clean; But there is great increase by the strength of the ox.
5 El testigo verdadero no mentirá: mas el testigo falso hablará mentiras.
A faithful witness doth not lie; But a false witness poureth forth lies.
6 Busca el escarnecedor la sabiduría, y no [la halla]: mas la sabiduría al hombre entendido es fácil.
The scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy to the man of understanding.
7 Vete de delante del hombre necio, porque [en él] no advertirás labios de ciencia.
Go from the presence of a foolish man; For thou hast not perceived in him the lips of knowledge.
8 La ciencia del cuerdo es entender su camino: mas la indiscreción de los necios es engaño.
The wisdom of the prudent is in giving heed to his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Los necios se mofan del pecado: mas entre los rectos hay favor.
Fools make a mock at sin; But with the upright is favor.
10 El corazón conoce la amargura de su alma; y extraño no se entrometerá en su alegría.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness. And a stranger cannot intermeddle with its joy.
11 La casa de los impíos será asolada: mas florecerá la tienda de los rectos.
The house of the wicked shall be destroyed; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 Hay camino que al hombre parece derecho; empero su fin son caminos de muerte.
There is a way which seemeth right to a man, But its end is the way to death.
13 Aun en la risa tendrá dolor el corazón; y el término de la alegría es congoja.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, And the end of joy is grief.
14 De sus caminos será harto el apartado de razón: y el hombre de bien [estará contento] del [suyo].
The perverse in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And from himself shall the good man be satisfied.
15 El simple cree á toda palabra: mas el avisado entiende sus pasos.
The simple man believeth every word; But the prudent looketh well to his steps.
16 El sabio teme, y se aparta del mal: mas el necio se arrebata, y confía.
The wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool is haughty and confident.
17 El que presto se enoja, hará locura: y el hombre malicioso será aborrecido.
He who is hasty in his anger will commit folly; And the man of wicked devices will be hated.
18 Los simples heredarán necedad: mas los cuerdos se coronarán de sabiduría.
The simple inherit folly; But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Los malos se inclinarán delante de los buenos, y los impíos á las puertas del justo.
The evil bow before the good; Yea, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 El pobre es odioso aun á su amigo: pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
The poor is hated even by his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.
21 Peca el que menosprecia á su prójimo: mas el que tiene misericordia de los pobres, es bienaventurado.
He who despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But happy is he who hath mercy on the poor.
22 ¿No yerran los que piensan mal? Misericordia empero y verdad [alcanzarán] los que piensan bien.
Do not they who devise evil fail of their end? But they who devise good meet with kindness and truth.
23 En toda labor hay fruto: mas la palabra de los labios solamente empobrece.
In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 Las riquezas de los sabios son su corona: [mas] es infatuación la insensatez de los necios.
Riches are a crown to the wise; But the promotion of fools is folly.
25 El testigo verdadero libra las almas: mas el engañoso hablará mentiras.
A true witness saveth lives; But a deceitful witness poureth forth lies.
26 En el temor de Jehová está la fuerte confianza; y esperanza tendrán sus hijos.
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence; Yea, to his children he will be a refuge.
27 El temor de Jehová es manantial de vida, para apartarse de los lazos de la muerte.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life; By it men escape from the snares of death.
28 En la multitud de pueblo está la gloria del rey: y en la falta de pueblo la flaqueza del príncipe.
In a numerous people is the glory of a king; But the want of people is the destruction of a prince.
29 El que tarde se aira, es grande de entendimiento: mas el corto de espíritu engrandece el desatino.
He who is slow to anger is of great understanding. But he who is of a hasty spirit setteth folly on high.
30 El corazón apacible es vida de las carnes: mas la envidia, pudrimiento de huesos.
A quiet heart is the life of the flesh; But the ferment of passion is rottenness to the bones.
31 El que oprime al pobre, afrenta á su Hacedor: mas el que tiene misericordia del pobre, lo honra.
He who oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he who hath mercy on the poor honoreth him.
32 Por su maldad será lanzado el impío: mas el justo en su muerte tiene esperanza.
By his wickedness the wicked is thrust down; But the righteous hath hope even in death.
33 En el corazón del cuerdo reposa la sabiduría; y es conocida en medio de los necios.
Wisdom resteth quietly in the heart of the wise; But in the breast of fools it will be made known.
34 La justicia engrandece la nación: mas el pecado es afrenta de las naciones.
Righteousness exalteth a people; But the reproach of nations is sin.
35 La benevolencia del rey es para con el ministro entendido: mas su enojo [contra] el que [lo] avergüenza.
The king's favor is toward a wise servant; But his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
