Gálatas 5
1 ESTAD, pues, firmes en la libertad con que Cristo nos hizo libres, y no volváis otra vez á ser presos en el yugo de servidumbre.
With her freedom, Christ hath made you, free. Stand fast, therefore, and do not, again, with a yoke of servitude, be held fast!
2 He aquí yo Pablo os digo, que si os circuncidareis, Cristo no os aprovechará nada.
See! I, Paul, say unto you—if ye be getting circumcised, Christ will profit you, nothing.
3 Y otra vez vuelvo á protestar á todo hombre que se circuncidare, que está obligado á hacer toda la ley.
Yea, I bear solemn witness again, unto every man getting circumcised, —that he is, a debtor, to do, the whole law.
4 Vacíos sois de Cristo los que por la ley os justificáis; de la gracia habéis caído.
Ye have been set aside from Christ, ye who, by law, are to be declared righteous, —out of his favour, ye have fallen;
5 Porque nosotros por el Espíritu esperamos la esperanza de la justicia por la fe.
For, we, in Spirit, by faith, for a hope of righteousness, are ardently waiting, —
6 Porque en Cristo Jesús ni la circuncisión vale algo, ni la incircuncisión; sino la fe que obra por la caridad.
For, in Christ [Jesus], neither, circumcision, availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith, through love, energising.
7 Vosotros corríais bien: ¿quién os embarazó para no obedecer á la verdad?
Ye were running well: —who hath hindered you, that, by truth, ye are not to be persuaded?
8 Esta persuasión no [es] de aquel que os llama.
The persuasion, [is] not of him that calleth you: —
9 Un poco de levadura leuda toda la masa.
A little leaven, leaveneth, the whole lump.
10 Yo confío de vosotros en el Señor, que ninguna otra cosa sentiréis: mas el que os inquieta, llevará el juicio, quienquiera que él sea.
I, am persuaded regarding you, in the Lord—that, for nothing else, ye will have any regard; but, he that is troubling you, shall bear the sentence, —whosoever he may be.
11 Y yo, hermanos, si aun predico la circuncisión, ¿por qué padezco persecución todavía? pues que quitado es el escándalo de la cruz.
I, however, brethren—if, circumcision, I yet proclaim, why am I yet persecuted? After all, the stumbling-block of the cross hath been set aside.
12 Ojalá fuesen también cortados los que os inquietan.
Oh! that they would even leave off in dismay, who are unsettling you!
13 Porque vosotros, hermanos, á libertad habéis sido llamados; solamente que no [uséis] la libertad como ocasión á la carne, sino servíos por amor los unos á los otros.
For, ye, on a footing of freedom, were called, brethren, —only, [turn] not your freedom into an occasion to the flesh, but, by means of your love, be serving one another;
14 Porque toda la ley en aquesta sola palabra se cumple: Amarás á tu prójimo como á ti mismo.
For, the whole law, in one word, is summed up—[namely] in this, —Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 Y si os mordéis y os coméis los unos á los otros, mirad que también no os consumáis los unos á los otros.
If, however, one another, ye bite and devour, take heed lest, by one another, ye be consumed!
16 Digo pues: Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis la concupiscencia de la carne.
I say, moreover—by Spirit, be walking, and, fleshly coveting, ye will in nowise fulfil;
17 Porque la carne codicia contra el Espíritu, y el Espíritu contra la carne: y estas cosas se oponen la una á la otra, para que no hagáis lo que quisiereis.
For, the flesh, coveted against the Spirit, but, the Spirit, against the flesh, —for, these, unto one another, are opposed, lest, whatsoever things ye chance to desire, these, ye should be doing!
18 Mas si sois guiados del Espíritu, no estáis bajo la ley.
And, if, by Spirit, ye are being led, ye are not under law.
19 Y manifiestas son las obras de la carne, que son: adulterio, fornicación, inmundicia, disolución,
Manifest, however, are the works of the flesh, which, indeed, are—fornication, impurity, wantonness,
20 Idolatría, hechicerías, enemistades, pleitos, celos, iras, contiendas, disensiones, herejías,
idolatry, enchantment, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of wrath, factions, divisions, parties,
21 Envidias, homicidios, borracheras, banqueteos, y cosas semejantes á éstas: de las cuales os denuncio, como ya os he anunciado, que los que hacen tales cosas no heredarán el reino de Dios.
envyings, drunkenness, revellings; —and such things as these: as to which I forewarn you, even as I have forewarned you, —that, they who such things as these do practise, shall not inherit, God’s kingdom.
22 Mas el fruto del Espíritu es: caridad, gozo, paz, tolerancia, benignidad, bondad, fe,
But, the fruit of the Spirit, is—love, joy, peace, long-suffering, graciousness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 Mansedumbre, templanza: contra tales cosas no hay ley.
meekness, self-control; —against such things as these, there is no law.
24 Porque los que son de Cristo, han crucificado la carne con los afectos y concupiscencias.
And, they who are of Christ Jesus, have crucified, the flesh, with its susceptibilities and covetings.
25 Si vivimos en el Espíritu, andemos también en el Espíritu.
If we live by Spirit, by Spirit, let us also walk.
26 No seamos codiciosos de vana gloria, irritando los unos á los otros, envidiándose los unos á los otros.
Let us not become vain-glorious, —one another, challenging, one another, envying.
