Rut 4
1 Y Booz subió a la puerta, y asentóse allí: Y, he aquí, pasaba aquel redentor del cual Booz había hablado. Y díjole: Fulano, o zutano, llégate, y siéntate: y él vino, y sentóse.
And Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. And behold, he that had the right of redemption, of whom Boaz had spoken, came by. And he said, Thou, such a one, turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside and sat down.
2 Entonces él tomó diez varones de los ancianos de la ciudad, y dijo: Sentáos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.
And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit down here. And they sat down.
3 Y dijo al redentor: Una parte de las tierras que tuvo nuestro hermano Elimelec, vendió Noemí, la que volvió del campo de Moab.
And he said to him that had the right of redemption: Naomi, who is come back out of the country of Moab, sells the allotment that was our brother Elimelech's.
4 Y yo dije en mí de hacértelo saber, y decirte que las tomes delante de los que están aquí sentados, y delante de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si redimieres, redime. Y si no quisieres redimir, decláramelo para que yo lo sepa: porque no hay otro que redima si no tú; y yo después de ti. Y el otro respondió: Yo redimiré.
And I thought I would apprise thee of it and say, Buy [it] in the presence of the inhabitants, and in the presence of the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem [it], redeem; but if thou wilt not redeem, tell me, that I may know; for there is none to redeem besides thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem [it].
5 Entonces replicó Booz: El mismo día que tomares las tierras de mano de Noemí, tomaste también a Rut Moabita mujer del difunto, para que levantes el nombre del muerto sobre su posesión.
And Boaz said, On the day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy [it] also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6 Y el redentor respondió: No puedo yo redimir a mi provecho; porque echaría a perder mi heredad; redime tú mi redención; porque yo no podré redimir.
And he that had the right of redemption said, I cannot redeem [it] for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance. Redeem thou for thyself what I should redeem, for I cannot redeem [it].
7 Y había ya de luengo tiempo esta costumbre en Israel en la redención o contrato, que para la confirmación de cualquier negocio el uno quitaba su zapato, y lo daba a su compañero. Y éste era el testimonio en Israel.
Now this [was the custom] in former time in Israel concerning redemption and concerning exchange, to confirm the whole matter: a man drew off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbour, and this was the [mode of] attestation in Israel.
8 Entonces el pariente dijo a Booz: Tómalo tú. Y diciendo esto descalzó su zapato.
And he that had the right of redemption said to Boaz, Buy for thyself; and he drew off his sandal.
9 Y Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros seréis hoy testigos de como tomo todas las cosas que fueron de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión, y de Majalón de mano de Noemí;
And Boaz said to the elders and all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi;
10 Y que también tomo por mi mujer a Rut Moabita, mujer de Majalón, para que yo levante el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se pierda de entre sus hermanos, y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros seréis hoy testigos.
moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
11 Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que estaban a la puerta con los ancianos: Qué somos testigos. Jehová haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa, como a Raquel y a Lia, las cuales dos edificaron la casa de Israel: y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y tengas nombradía en Belén.
And all the people that were in the gate and the elders said, [We are] witnesses. Jehovah make the woman that cometh into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel; and acquire power in Ephratah, and make thyself a name in Bethlehem;
12 Tu casa sea como la casa de Fares, al cual parió Tamar a Judá, de la simiente que Jehová te diere de aquesta moza.
and let thy house become like the house of Pherez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the seed which Jehovah shall give thee of this young woman.
13 Y así Booz tomó a Rut, y ella fue su mujer. El cual como entró a ella, Jehová le dio que concibiese, y pariese un hijo.
And Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in unto her, and Jehovah gave her conception, and she bore a son.
14 Y las mujeres decían a Noemí: Loado sea Jehová, que hizo que no te faltase redentor hoy, cuyo nombre será nombrado en Israel.
And the women said to Naomi, Blessed be Jehovah who hath not left thee this day without one that has the right of redemption, and may his name be famous in Israel!
15 El cual será restaurador de tu alma, y el que sustentará tu vejez: pues que tu nuera, la cual te ama, le ha parido, que más te vale ésta, que siete hijos.
And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age; for thy daughter-in-law who loves thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, has borne him.
16 Y tomando Noemí el hijo, púsole en su regazo, y fuéle su ama.
And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse to it.
17 Y las vecinas le pusieron nombre, diciendo: A Noemí ha nacido un hijo: y llamáronle Obed. Éste es padre de Isaí, padre de David:
And the women [her] neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi. And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18 Y estas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Jesrón;
Now these are the generations of Pherez. Pherez begot Hezron,
19 Y Jesrón engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab;
and Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadab,
20 Y Aminadab engendró a Naasón, y Naasón engendró a Salmón;
and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
21 Y Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed;
and Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed,
22 Y Obed engendró a Isaí, e Isaí engendró a David.
and Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
