Salmos 40

1 Esperando esperé a Jehová, e inclinóse a mí, y oyó mi clamor.

To the Chief Musician. David’s. A Melody. I waited patiently for Yahweh, —And he inclined, unto me, and heard my cry for help;

2 E hízome sacar de un aljibe sonoro, de un lodo cenagoso; y puso mis pies sobre peña, enderezó mis pasos.

So he brought me up, Out of the destroying pit, Out of the swampy mire, —And set, upon a cliff, my feet, Making firm my steps:

3 Y puso en mi boca canción nueva, alabanza a nuestro Dios. Verán muchos, y temerán, y esperarán en Jehová.

Then put he, into my mouth, a new song, Praise to our God, —Many shall see and revere, And shall trust in Yahweh.

4 Bienaventurado el varón, que puso a Jehová por su confianza; y no miró a los soberbios, ni a los que declinan a la mentira.

How happy the man, Who hath made Yahweh his confidence, who hath not turned unto the haughty, nor gone aside unto falsehood.

5 Aumentado has tú, o! Jehová Dios mío, tus maravillas; y tus pensamientos para con nosotros, no te los podremos contar: si yo los anunciare, y hablare, no pueden ser enarrados.

Mighty things, hast thou done—Thou, Yahweh my God, Thy wonderful doings and thy purposes towards us, There is no setting them in order unto thee—I would tell, and would speak!—They are too great to rehearse.

6 Sacrificio y presente no te agrada: orejas me has labrado: Holocausto y expiación no has demandado.

Sacrifice and meal-offering, thou didst not delight in, Ears, didst thou pierce for me, —Ascending-sacrifice and sin-bearer, thou didst not ask:

7 Entonces dije: He aquí, vengo; en el envoltorio del libro está escrito de mí.

Then, said I—Lo! I am come, In the written scroll, is it prescribed for me;

8 Para hacer tu voluntad, Dios mío, ha me agradado; y tu ley está dentro de mis entrañas.

To do thy good-pleasure, O my God, is my delight, And, thy law, is in the midst of mine inward parts:

9 Yo anuncié justicia en grande congregación: he aquí, no detuve mis labios, Jehová tú lo sabes.

I have told the good-tidings of righteousness in a great convocation, Lo! my lips, do I not restrain, O Yahweh, thou, knowest:

10 No encubrí tu justicia en medio de mi corazón: tu verdad y tu salud dije: no negué tu misericordia y tu verdad en grande congregación.

Thy righteousness, have I not hid in the midst of my heart, Thy faithfulness and thy salvation, have I spoken, I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truthfulness from the great convocation.

11 Tú, Jehová, no detengas de mí tus misericordias: tu misericordia y tu verdad me guarden siempre.

Thou, O Yahweh, wilt not restrain thy compassions from me, Thy lovingkindness and thy truthfulness, shall continually watch over me.

12 Porque me han cercado males hasta no haber cuento: me han comprendido mis maldades, y no puedo ver: hánse aumentado más que los cabellos de mi cabeza, y mi corazón me falta.

For there have closed in upon me, misfortunes beyond number, Mine iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see, They have become more than the hairs of my head, And, my courage, hath forsaken me!

13 Quieras, Jehová, librarme: Jehová apresúrate para ayudarme.

Be pleased, O Yahweh, to rescue me, O Yahweh! to help me, make haste!

14 Sean avergonzados y confusos a una los que buscan mi vida para cortarla: vuelvan atrás y avergüéncense los que quieren mi mal.

Let them turn pale and then at once blush, who are seeking my life to snatch it away, —Let them draw back, and be confounded, who are taking pleasure in my calamity;

15 Sean asolados en pago de su afrenta, los que me dicen: Hala, hala.

Let them be astonished on account of their own shame, who are saying of me, Aha! Aha!

16 Regocíjense, y alégrense en ti todos los que te buscan; y digan siempre: Sea ensalzado Jehová, los que aman tu salud.

Let all them be glad and rejoice in thee, who are seekers of thee. Let them say continually—Yahweh be magnified! who are lovers of thy salvation.

17 Y yo afligido y necesitado; y Jehová pensará de mí: mi ayudador y mi libertador eres tú; Dios mío, no te tardes.

But, I, being oppressed and needy, May My Lord devise for me, —My help and my deliverer, thou art! O my God, do not tarry!
