Proverbios 6
1 Hijo, si salieres por fiador por tu amigo, si tocaste tu mano al extraño,
My son, if thou have become surety for thy neighbor, if thou have struck thy hands for a stranger,
2 Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca; y preso con las razones de tu boca.
thou are snared with the words of thy mouth, thou are taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate; porque has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: Vé, humíllate, y esfuerza tu prójimo.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, since thou have come into the hand of thy neighbor. Go, humble thyself, and importune thy neighbor.
4 No des sueño a tus ojos, ni a tus párpados adormecimiento.
Do not give sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Escápate como el corzo de la mano del cazador; y como el ave de la mano del parancero.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Vé a la hormiga, o! perezoso, mira sus caminos, y sé sabio:
Go to the ant, thou sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise.
7 La cual no tiene capitán, ni gobernador, ni señor,
Which, having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 Y con todo eso apareja en el verano su comida: en el tiempo de la siega allega su mantenimiento.
provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
9 Perezoso; ¿hasta cuándo has de dormir? ¿Cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?
How long will thou sleep, O sluggard? When will thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Tomando un poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, poniendo mano sobre mano otro poco para volver a dormir:
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,
11 Vendrá como caminante tu necesidad, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
so thy poverty shall come as a robber, and thy want as an armed man.
12 El hombre perverso es varón inicuo: camina en perversidad de boca,
A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,
13 Guiña con sus ojos, habla con sus pies: enseña con sus dedos;
who winks with his eyes, who speaks with his feet, who makes signs with his fingers,
14 Perversidades están en su corazón: en todo tiempo anda pensando mal: enciende rencillas;
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who sows discord.
15 Por tanto su calamidad vendrá de repente: súbitamente será quebrantado, y no habrá quien le sane.
Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly. Suddenly he shall be broken, and that without remedy.
16 Seis cosas aborrece Jehová, y aun siete abomina su alma:
There are six things which Jehovah hates, yea, seven which are an abomination to him:
17 Los ojos altivos, la lengua mentirosa, las manos derramadoras de la sangre inocente,
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 El corazón que piensa pensamientos inicuos, los pies presurosos para correr al mal,
a heart that devises wicked purposes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19 El testigo mentiroso que habla mentiras; y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
20 Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre; y no dejes la ley de tu madre:
My son, keep the commandment of thy father, and do not forsake the law of thy mother.
21 Atala siempre en tu corazón: enlázala a tu cuello.
Bind them continually upon thy heart. Tie them about thy neck.
22 Cuando anduvieres, te guie: cuando durmieres, te guarde: cuando despertares, hable contigo:
When thou walk, it shall lead thee. When thou sleep, it shall watch over thee. And when thou awake, it shall talk with thee.
23 Porque el mandamiento candela es, y la ley luz; y camino de vida las reprensiones de la enseñanza;
For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
24 Para que te guarden de la mala mujer; de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the stranger's tongue.
25 No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón: ni te prenda con sus ojos.
Do not lust after her beauty in thy heart, nor let her take thee with her eyelids.
26 Porque a causa de la mujer ramera viene el hombre a un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
For the price of a harlot is as much as a piece of bread, but the adulteress hunts for the precious life.
27 ¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, y que sus vestidos no se quemen?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 ¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, y que sus pies no se abrasen?
Or can a man walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Así el que entrare a la mujer de su prójimo: no será sin culpa todo hombre que la tocare.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her shall not be unpunished.
30 No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para henchir su alma, teniendo hambre:
Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry.
31 Mas tomado, paga las setenas: o da toda la sustancia de su casa.
Yet if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold. He shall give all the substance of his house.
32 Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who would destroy his own soul does it.
33 Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
Wounds and dishonor he shall get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 Porque el zelo sañudo del varón no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is a man's fury, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 No tendrá respeto a ninguna redención: ni querrá perdonar aunque le multipliques el cohecho.
He will not regard any ransom, nor will he be satisfied, though thou give many gifts.
