Proverbios 30
1 Palabras de Agur hijo de Jace: La profecía que dijo el varón a Itiel, a Itiel, y Ucal:
The words of Gatherer the son of Vomiter. The vision which the man spoke with whom God is, and who being strengthened by God, abiding with him, said:
2 Yo ciertamente, más torpe de ingenio soy que ninguno, ni tengo entendimiento de hombre.
I am the most foolish of men, and the wisdom of men is not with me.
3 Ni aprendí sabiduría: ni supe ciencia de santos.
I have not learned wisdom, and have not known the science of saints.
4 ¿Quién subió al cielo, y descendió? ¿Quién encerró los vientos en sus puños? ¿Quién ató las aguas en un paño? ¿Quién afirmó todos los límites de la tierra? ¿Cuál es su nombre, y el nombre de su hijo, si tú lo sabes?
Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? who hath held the wind in his hands? who hath bound up the waters together as in a garment? who hath raised up all the borders of the earth? what is his name, and what is the name of his son, if thou knowest?
5 Toda habla de Dios es limpia, es escudo a los que en él esperan.
Every word of God is fire tried: he is a buckler to them that hope in him.
6 No añadas sobre sus palabras, porque no te arguya, y seas hallado mentiroso.
Add not any thing to his words, lest thou be reproved, and found a liar:
7 Dos cosas te he demandado, no me las niegues antes que muera:
Two things I have asked of thee, deny them not to me before I die.
8 Vanidad y palabra mentirosa aparta de mí: no me des pobreza ni riquezas: mantiéneme del pan que he menester.
Remove far from me vanity, and lying words. Give me neither beggary, nor riches: give me only the necessaries of life:
9 Porque no me harte, y te niegue; y diga: ¿Quién es Jehová? y porque siendo pobre, hurte; y blasfeme el nombre de mi Dios.
Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.
10 Nunca acuses al siervo cerca de su señor; porque no te maldiga, y peques.
Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou fall.
11 Hay generación que maldice a su padre, y a su madre no bendice.
There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
12 Hay generación limpia en su opinión, y nunca se ha limpiado su inmundicia.
A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.
13 Hay generación cuyos ojos son altivos, y cuyos párpados son alzados.
A generation, whose eyes are lofty, and their eyelids lifted up on high.
14 Hay generación cuyos dientes son espadas; y cuyas muelas son cuchillos, para tragar de la tierra a los pobres, y de entre los hombres a los menesterosos.
A generation, that for teeth hath swords, and grindeth with their jaw teeth, to devour the needy from off the earth, and the poor from among men.
15 La sanguijuela tiene dos hijas que se llaman Trae, trae. Tres cosas hay que nunca se hartan: la cuarta nunca dice: Basta.
The horseleech hath two daughters that say: Bring, bring. There are three things that never are satisfied, and the fourth never saith: It is enough.
16 El sepulcro, y la matriz estéril, y la tierra no harta de aguas; y el fuego nunca dice: Basta. (Sheol h7585)
Hell, and the mouth of the womb, and the earth which is not satisfied with water: and the fire never saith: It is enough. (Sheol h7585)
17 El ojo que escarnece a su padre, y menosprecia el enseñamiento de la madre, sáquenlo los cuervos del río, y tráguenlo los hijos del águila.
The eye that mocketh at his father, and that despiseth the labour of his mother in bearing him, let the ravens of the brooks pick it out, and the young eagles eat it.
18 Tres cosas me son ocultas, y la cuarta no sé:
Three things are hard to me, and the fourth I am utterly ignorant of.
19 El rastro del águila en el aire: el rastro de la culebra sobre la peña: el rastro de la nave en medio de la mar; y el rastro del hombre en la moza.
The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent upon a rock, the way of a ship in the midst of the sea, and the way of a man in youth.
20 Tal es el rastro de la mujer adúltera: come, y limpia su boca, y dice: No he hecho maldad.
Such is also the way of an adulterous woman, who eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith: I have done no evil.
21 Por tres cosas se alborota la tierra, y la cuarta no la puede sufrir:
By three things the earth is disturbed, and the fourth it cannot bear:
22 Por el siervo cuando reinare; y por el insensato cuando se hartare de pan:
By a slave when he reigneth: by a fool when he is filled with meat:
23 Por la mujer aborrecida, cuando se casare; y por la sierva, cuando heredare a su señora.
By an odious woman when she is married: and by a bondwoman when she is heir to her mistress.
24 Cuatro cosas son las más pequeñas de la tierra, y las mismas son más sabias que los sabios:
There are four very little things of the earth, and they are wiser than the wise:
25 Las hormigas, pueblo no fuerte; y en el verano apareja su comida:
The ants, a feeble people, which provide themselves food in the harvest:
26 Los conejos, pueblo no fuerte; y ponen su casa en la piedra:
The rabbit, a weak people, which maketh its bed in the rock:
27 La langosta no tiene rey; y sale junta toda ella:
The locust hath no king, yet they all go out by their bands.
28 La araña, que ase con las manos, y está en palacios de rey.
The stellio supporteth itself on hands, and dwelleth in kings’ houses.
29 Tres cosas hay de hermoso andar, y la cuarta pasea muy bien:
There are three things, which go well, and the fourth that walketh happily:
30 El león fuerte entre todos los animales, que no torna atrás por nadie:
A lion, the strongest of beasts, who hath no fear of any thing he meeteth:
31 El lebrel ceñido de lomos; y el macho cabrío; y el rey, contra el cual ninguno se levanta.
A cock girded about the loins: and a ram: and a king, whom none can resist.
32 Si caíste, fue porque te enalteciste; y si mal pensaste, pon el dedo en la boca.
There is that hath appeared a fool after he was lifted up on high: for if he had understood, he would have laid his hand upon his mouth.
33 Ciertamente el que exprime la leche, sacará manteca; y el que recio se suena las narices, sacará sangre; y el que exprime la ira, sacará contienda.
And he that strongly squeezeth the papa to bring out milk, straineth out butter: and he that violently bloweth his nose, bringeth out blood: and he that provoketh wrath bringeth forth strife.
