Proverbios 3
1 Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi ley; y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos:
My son, forget not my law, and let thy heart keep my commandments.
2 Porque longura de días, y años de vida, y paz te aumentarán.
For they shall add to thee length of days, and years of life and peace.
3 Misericordia, y verdad no te desamparen: átalas a tu cuello, escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón;
Let not mercy and truth leave thee, put them about thy neck, and write them in the tables of thy heart:
4 Y hallarás gracia y buena opinión en los ojos de Dios, y de los hombres.
And thou shalt And grace and good understanding before God and men.
5 Fíate de Jehová de todo tu corazón; y no estribes en tu prudencia.
Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence.
6 Reconócele en todos tus caminos; y él enderezará tus veredas.
In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps.
7 No seas sabio en tu opinión: teme a Jehová, y apártate del mal:
I Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil:
8 Porque será medicina a tu ombligo, y tuétano a tus huesos.
For it shall be health to thy navel, and moistening to thy bones.
9 Honra a Jehová de tu sustancia; y de las primicias de todos tus frutos:
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits:
10 Y serán llenos tus alfolíes de hartura; y tus lagares reventarán de mosto.
And thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall run over with wine.
11 No deseches, hijo mío, el castigo de Jehová: ni te fatigues de su corrección:
My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him:
12 Porque Jehová al que ama, y quiere, como el padre al hijo, a ese castiga.
For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth: and as a father in the son he pleaseth himself.
13 Bienaventurado el hombre que halló la sabiduría; y que saca a luz la inteligencia.
Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom and is rich in prudence:
14 Porque su mercadería es mejor que la mercadería de la plata; y sus frutos, más que el oro fino.
The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chiefest and purest gold:
15 Más preciosa es que las piedras preciosas; y todo lo que puedes desear, no se puede comparar a ella.
She is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared with her.
16 Longura de días trae en su mano derecha: en su izquierda, riquezas y honra.
Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
17 Sus caminos son caminos deleitosos; y todas sus veredas, paz.
Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable.
18 Esta es el árbol de vida a los que asen de ella; y los que la sustentan, son bienaventurados.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed.
19 Jehová con sabiduría fundó la tierra: afirmó los cielos con inteligencia.
The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth, hath established the heavens by prudence.
20 Con su ciencia se partieron los abismos; y los cielos destilan el rocío.
By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew.
21 Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos: guarda la ley, y el consejo;
My son, let not these things depart from thy eyes: keep the law and counsel:
22 Y serán vida a tu alma, y gracia a tu cuello.
And there shall be life to thy soul, and grace to thy mouth.
23 Entonces caminarás por tu camino confiadamente; y tu pie no tropezará.
Then shalt thou walk confidently in thy way, and thy foot shall not stumble:
24 Cuando te acostares, no habrás temor; y acostarte has, y tu sueño será suave.
If thou sleep, thou shalt not fear: thou shalt rest, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 No habrás temor del pavor repentino, ni de la ruina de los impíos, cuando viniere.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon thee.
26 Porque Jehová será tu confianza; y el guardará tu pie, porque no seas tomado.
For the Lord will be at thy side, and will keep thy foot that thou be not taken.
27 No detengas el bien de sus dueños, cuando tuvieres poder para hacerlo.
Do not withhold him from doing good, who is able: if thou art able, do good thyself also.
28 No digas a tu prójimo: Vé, y vuelve, y mañana te daré, cuando tienes contigo.
Say not to thy friend: Go, and come again: and tomorrow I will give to thee: when thou canst give at present.
29 No pienses mal contra tu prójimo, estando él confiado de ti.
Practise not evil against thy friend, when he hath confidence in thee.
30 No pleitées con alguno sin razón, si él no te ha malgalardonado.
Strive not against a man without cause, when he hath done thee no evil.
31 No tengas envidia al hombre injusto: ni escojas alguno de sus caminos:
Envy not the unjust man, and do not follow his ways:
32 Porque el perverso es abominado de Jehová; y con los rectos es su secreto.
For every mocker is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is with the simple.
33 Maldición de Jehová está en la casa del impío; mas a la morada de los justos bendecirá.
Want is from the Lord in the house of the wicked: but the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 Ciertamente él escarnecerá a los escarnecedores; y a los humildes dará gracia.
He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace.
35 Los sabios heredarán la honra; y los insensatos sostendrán deshonra.
The wise shall possess glory: the promotion of fools is disgrace.
