Proverbios 1
1 Los proverbios de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel:
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 Para entender sabiduría y castigo: para entender las razones prudentes:
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 Para recibir el castigo de prudencia, justicia, y juicio, y equidad:
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 Para dar a los simples astucia, y a los mozos inteligencia y consejo.
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 Oirá el sabio y aumentará la doctrina; y el entendido adquirirá consejo.
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 Para entender parábola y declaración, palabras de sabios, y sus dichos oscuros.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: los insensatos despreciaron la sabiduría y la instrucción.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Oye, hijo mío, el castigo de tu padre, y no deseches la ley de tu madre:
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
9 Porque aumento de gracia serán a tu cabeza, y collares a tu cuello.
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
10 Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, no consientas.
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, espiemos a la sangre: asechemos al inocente sin razón:
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 Hallaremos riquezas de todas suertes: henchiremos nuestras casas de despojos:
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 Echa tu suerte entre nosotros: tengamos todos una bolsa:
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos: aparta tu pie de sus veredas:
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 Porque sus pies correrán al mal; e irán presurosos a derramar sangre.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Porque en vano se tenderá la red delante de los ojos de toda ave.
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Mas ellos a su sangre espían, y a sus almas asechan.
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Tales son las sendas de todo codicioso de codicia, la cual prenderá el alma de sus poseedores.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 La sabiduría clama de fuera: en las plazas da su voz:
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 En las encrucijadas de los murmullos de gente clama: en las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones:
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 ¿Hasta cuándo, o! simples, amaréis la simpleza, y los burladores desearán el burlar, y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Volvéos a mi reprensión: he aquí que yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis: extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien escuchase:
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 Y desechasteis todo consejo mío, y no quisisteis mi reprensión:
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad; y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis.
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 Cuando viniere, como una destrucción, lo que teméis; y vuestra calamidad viniere como un torbellino: cuando viniere sobre vosotros tribulación y angustia:
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé: buscarme han de mañana, y no me hallarán:
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría; y no escogieron el temor de Jehová:
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 Ni quisieron mi consejo; y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía.
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 Comerán pues del fruto de su camino; y de sus consejos se hartarán.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará; y la prosperidad de los insensatos los echará a perder.
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente; y vivirá reposado de temor de mal.
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
