Números 36
1 Y llegaron los príncipes de los padres de la familia de los hijos de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de los hijos de José, y hablaron delante de Moisés, y de los príncipes cabezas de padres de los hijos de Israel,
The family leaders of the clan of Gilead of the tribe of Manasseh went to Moses/me and the other family leaders of the Israeli people.
2 Y dijeron: Jehová mandó a mi señor que diese la tierra a los hijos de Israel por suerte en posesión: también Jehová ha mandado a mi señor, que dé la posesión de Salfaad nuestro hermano a sus hijas:
They said to Moses/me, “Yahweh commanded you, our leader, to apportion the land to the Israeli tribes by throwing (lots/stones that have been marked) to decide [which group would get which area]. Yahweh also commanded you to give the land that belonged to our fellow Israeli Zelophehad to his daughters.
3 Las cuales se casarán con algunos de los hijos de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, y la herencia de ellas así será disminuida de la herencia de nuestros padres, y será añadida a la herencia de la tribu de la cual serán: y será quitada de la suerte de nuestra heredad.
But if his daughters marry men from the other Israeli tribes, that land will no longer belong to our tribe. People of other tribes will get it. So some of our land will no longer belong to us.
4 Y cuando viniere el jubileo de los hijos de Israel, la heredad de ellas será añadida a la heredad de la tribu de sus maridos, y así la heredad de ellas será quitada de la heredad de la tribu de nuestros padres.
When the Year of Celebration comes, [when all the land that has been bought by someone is returned to its original owners], the land that belonged to Zelophehad will belong to the tribes of the men that his daughters marry. So some of our land, the land that we received from our fathers, will be taken from us, [and we will never own it again].”
5 Entonces Moisés mandó a los hijos de Israel por dicho de Jehová, diciendo: La tribu de los hijos de José habla derecho:
Yahweh told Moses/me what to reply to them, so Moses/I said this to them: “These men from the tribe of Manasseh are right.
6 Esto es lo que ha mandado Jehová acerca de las hijas de Salfaad, diciendo: Cásense como a ellas les pluguiere, empero en la familia de la tribu de su padre se casarán:
This is what Yahweh is saying to the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Each of you may marry anyone you want to, but you must marry only someone from your own tribe.’
7 Porque la heredad de los hijos de Israel no sea traspasada de tribu en tribu; porque cada uno de los hijos de Israel se allegará a la heredad de la tribu de sus padres.
In that way, the land that belongs to Israelis will not be passed from one tribe to another tribe. Each Israeli will keep the land in the tribe that belonged to his ancestors.
8 Y cualquiera hija que poseyere heredad de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, con alguno de la familia de la tribu de su padre se casará, para que los hijos de Israel posean cada uno la heredad de sus padres;
A woman who inherits her father’s land may get married, but she must marry someone from her own tribe. In that way, every Israeli will keep the land that belonged to his ancestors.
9 Porque la heredad no ande rodeando de una tribu a otra: mas cada una de las tribus de los hijos de Israel se llegue a su heredad.
The land must not be passed from one tribe to another tribe. Each Israeli tribe must keep the land that it received from its ancestors.”
10 Como Jehová mandó a Moisés, así hicieron las hijas de Salfaad.
Zelophehad’s daughters obeyed what Yahweh told Moses/me.
11 Y así Maala, y Tersa, y Hegla, y Melca, y Noa hijas de Salfaad se casaron con hijos de sus tios:
The five daughters—Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah—married their cousins, their father’s relatives.
12 De la familia de los hijos de Manasés hijo de José fueron mujeres, y la heredad de ellas fue de la tribu de la familia de su padre.
The men whom they married were from the tribe of Manasseh, so their land continued to belong to their father’s family and tribe.
13 Estos son los mandamientos y los derechos que mandó Jehová por mano de Moisés a los hijos de Israel en los campos de Moab junto al Jordán de Jericó.
Those were the commands [DOU] that Yahweh gave to Moses/me to tell to the Israelis, while they/we were on the plains of the Moab region, close to the Jordan River, across from Jericho.
