Números 23

1 Y Balaam dijo a Balac: Edifícame aquí siete altares, y aparéjame aquí siete becerros, y siete carneros.

And Bil'am said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

2 Y Balac hizo como le dijo Balaam, y ofrecieron Balac y Balaam un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

And Balak did as Bil'am had spoken; and Balak and Bil'am offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

3 Y Balaam dijo a Balac: Pónte junto a tu holocausto, y yo iré, quizá Jehová me vendrá al encuentro, y cualquiera cosa que me mostrare yo te la denunciaré. Y así se fue solo.

And Bil'am said unto Balak, Place thyself by thy burnt-offering; and I will go, peradventure the Lord will come to meet me, and whatsoever he may show me I will tell thee: and he went thoughtfully alone.

4 Y encontróse Dios con Balaam, y él le dijo: Siete altares he ordenado, y en cada altar he ofrecido un becerro, y un carnero.

And God met Bil'am: and he said unto him, The seven altars have I made ready, and I have offered a bullock and a ram upon every altar.

5 Y Jehová puso palabra en la boca de Balaam, y díjole: Vuelve a Balac, y hablar le has así.

And the Lord put a word in Bil'am's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

6 Y volvió a él, y, he aquí, él estaba junto a su holocausto, él y todos los príncipes de Moab.

And he returned unto him, and, lo, he was standing by his burnt-offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.

7 Y él tomó su parábola, y dijo: De Aram me trajo Balac rey de Moab, de los montes del oriente, diciendo: Ven, maldíceme a Jacob; y, ven, detesta a Israel.

And he took up his parable, and said, From Aram did Balak send for me, the king of Moab, out of the mountains of the east, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

8 ¿Por qué maldeciré yo al que Dios no maldijo? ¿Y por qué detestaré yo al que Jehová no detestó?

How shall I denounce, whom God hath not denounced? and how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?

9 Porque de la cumbre de las peñas le veré, y desde los collados le miraré: he aquí un pueblo que habitará confiado, y no será contado entre las gentes.

For from the top of rocks I see him, and from hills I behold him: lo, it is a people that shall dwell alone, and among the nations it shall not be reckoned.

10 ¿Quién contará el polvo de Jacob, o el número del cuarto de Israel? Muera mi alma de la muerte de los rectos, y mi postrimería sea como él.

Who can count the dust of Jacob, and number the fourth part of Israel? May my soul die the death of the righteous, and may my last end be like his!

11 Entonces Balac dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué me has hecho? yo te he tomado para que maldigas a mis enemigos, y, he aquí, tú has bendecido bendiciendo.

And Balak said unto Bil'am, What hast thou done unto me? to denounce my enemies did I take thee, and, behold, thou hast even blessed them.

12 Y él respondió, y dijo: ¿No guardaré yo lo que Jehová pusiere en mi boca para decirlo?

And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that only which the Lord may put in my mouth?

13 Y díjole Balac: Ruégote que vengas conmigo a otro lugar desde el cual lo veas: su cabo solamente verás que no lo verás todo, y desde allí me lo maldecirás.

And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from where thou canst see them; nevertheless a portion of them only wilt thou see, but the whole of them thou wilt not see: and denounce them for me from there.

14 Y tomóle y llevóle al campo de Sofim a la cumbre de Fasga, y edificó siete altares, y ofreció un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

And he brought him to the field of the watchmen, on the top of Pisgah, and he built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

15 Entonces él dijo a Balac: Pónte aquí junto a tu holocausto, y yo iré a encontrar a Dios allí.

And he said unto Balak, Place thyself here by thy burnt-offering, while I will repair to yonder place.

16 Y Jehová se encontró con Balaam, y puso palabra en su boca, y díjole: Vuelve a Balac, y decir le has así.

And the Lord met Bil'am, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

17 Y vino a él, y he aquí, que él estaba junto a su holocausto, y con él los príncipes de Moab: y díjole Balac: ¿Qué ha dicho Jehová?

And he came to him, and, behold, he was standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him; and Balak said unto him: What hath the Lord spoken?

18 Entonces él tomó su parábola, y dijo: Balac levántate, y oye: escucha mis palabras, hijo de Sefor:

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; bend hither thy ear unto me, son of Zippor!

19 Dios no es hombre para que mienta; ni hijo de hombre para que se arrepienta: ¿El dijo, y no hará? ¿Habló, y no lo ejecutará?

God is not a man, that he should lie; nor a son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not fulfill it?

20 He aquí, yo he tomado bendición; y él bendijo, y no la revocaré.

Behold, to bless I have received [the word]; and he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

21 No ha mirado iniquidad en Jacob, ni ha visto rebelión en Israel, Jehová su Dios es con él, y jubilación de rey en él.

He hath not beheld any wrong in Jacob, nor hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the glory of the king dwelleth among him.

22 Dios los ha sacado de Egipto, tiene fuerzas como el unicornio.

God, who brought them out of Egypt, is to them like the heights of the reem.

23 Porque en Jacob no hay agüero, ni adivinación en Israel: como ahora será dicho de Jacob y de Israel lo que ha hecho Dios.

For there is no enchantment in Jacob, nor is there any divination in Israel: at the proper time shall it be said to Jacob and to Israel, what God doth work.

24 He aquí el pueblo, que como león se levantará, y como león, se ensalzará; no se echará, hasta que coma la presa, y beba sangre de muertos.

Behold, it is a people, that shall rise up as a lioness, and as a lion shall it raise itself: it will not lie down until it have eaten the prey, and have drunk the blood of the slain.

25 Entonces Balac dijo a Balaam: Si maldiciendo no lo maldices, no lo bendigas tampoco bendiciendo.

And Balak said unto Bil'am, Neither shalt thou denounce them, nor shalt thou any wise bless them.

26 Y Balaam respondió, y dijo a Balac: ¿No te he dicho, que todo lo que Jehová me dijere, aquello tengo de hacer?

But Bil'am answered and said unto Balak, Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, all that the Lord will speak, that must I do.

27 Y dijo Balac a Balaam: Ruégote que vengas, llevarte he a otro lugar; por ventura parecerá bien a Dios que desde allí me lo maldigas.

And Balak said unto Bil'am, Come, I pray thee, I will take thee unto another place, peradventure it may be pleasing in the eyes of God that thou mayest denounce them for me from there.

28 Y Balac tomó a Balaam y trájole a la cumbre de Fogor, que mira hacia Jesimón.

And Balak took Bil'am unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward the desert.

29 Entonces Balaam dijo a Balac: Edifícame aquí siete altares, y aparéjame aquí siete becerros, y siete carneros.

And Bil'am said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

30 Y Balac hizo como Balaam le dijo; y ofreció un becerro y un carnero en cada altar.

And Balak did as Bil'am had said, and he offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.
