Números 21
1 Y oyendo el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de las centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.
And the Canaanite king of Arad, who dwelt in the south, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim, and he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
2 Entonces Israel hizo voto a Jehová, y dijo: Si entregando entregares a este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.
Then Israel vowed a vow to Jehovah, and said, If thou give this people wholly into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
3 Y Jehová oyó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos a ellos y a sus ciudades, y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Jorma.
And Jehovah listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them, and their cities. And they called the name of the place Hormah.
4 Y partieron del monte de Hor camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y el alma del pueblo fue angustiada en el camino:
And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to go round the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became impatient on the way;
5 Y habló el pueblo contra Dios, y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hicisteis subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.
and the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Why have ye brought us up out of Egypt that we should die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and no water, and our soul loathes this light bread.
6 Y Jehová envió en el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo, y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.
Then Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people, which bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Entonces el pueblo vino a Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado habemos, por haber hablado contra Jehová y contra ti: ora a Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.
And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, in that we have spoken against Jehovah, and against thee: pray to Jehovah that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y pónla sobre la bandera: y será, que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare a ella, vivirá.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Make thee a fiery [serpent], and set it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, and looketh upon it, shall live.
9 Y Moisés hizo una serpiente de metal, y púsola sobre la bandera, y fue, que cuando alguna serpiente mordía a alguno, miraba a la serpiente de metal, y vivía.
And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, if a serpent had bitten any man, and he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
10 Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Obot.
And the children of Israel journeyed, and encamped in Oboth.
11 Y partidos de Obot, asentaron en Je-abarim en el desierto que está delante de Moab al nacimiento del sol.
And they removed from Oboth, and encamped at Ijim-Abarim, in the wilderness that is before Moab, toward the sun-rising.
12 Partidos de allí, asentaron al arroyo de Zared.
From thence they removed, and encamped at the torrent Zered.
13 Y partidos de allí asentaron de la otra parte de Arnón, que es en el desierto, que sale del término del Amorreo: porque Arnón es término de Moab, entre Moab y el Amorreo.
From thence they removed, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites. For the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Por tanto es dicho en el libro de las batallas de Jehová: Lo que hizo en el mar Bermejo, y a los arroyos de Arnón;
Therefore it is said in the book of the wars of Jehovah, Vaheb in Suphah, and the brooks of Arnon;
15 Y la corriente de los arroyos que va a parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.
And the stream of the brooks which turneth to the dwelling of Ar, And inclineth toward the border of Moab.
16 Y de allí vinieron a Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo a Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y darles he aguas.
And from thence to Beer: that is the well of which Jehovah spoke to Moses, Assemble the people, and I will give them water.
17 Entonces Israel cantó esta canción: Sube oh pozo; cantád a él:
Then Israel sang this song, Rise up, well! sing unto it:
18 Pozo, el cual cavaron los señores: caváronlo los príncipes del pueblo, y el legislador, con sus bordones. Y del desierto vinieron a Matana;
Well which princes digged, which the nobles of the people hollowed out at [the word of] the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness [they went] to Mattanah;
19 Y de Matana a Nahaliel; y de Nahaliel a Bamot;
and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
20 Y de Bamot al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y a la cumbre de Fasga, y a la vista de Jesimón.
and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the fields of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks over the surface of the waste.
21 Y envió Israel embajadores a Sejón, rey de los Amorreos, diciendo:
And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22 Pasaré por tu tierra, no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas: no beberemos las aguas de los pozos, por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.
Let us pass through thy land; we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink water out of the wells; on the king's road will we go until we have passed thy border.
23 Mas Sejón no dejó pasar a Israel por su término: antes juntó Sejón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino a Jasa, y peleó contra Israel.
But Sihon would not suffer Israel to go through his border; and Sihon gathered all his people, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
24 E Israel le hirió a filo de espada, y tomó su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jabboc, hasta los hijos de Ammón: porque el término de los hijos de Ammón era fuerte:
And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 E Israel tomó todas estas ciudades, y habitó Israel en todas las ciudades del Amorreo, en Jesebón, y en todas sus aldeas.
And Israel took all these cities, and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, at Heshbon, and in all its dependent villages.
26 Porque Jesebón era la ciudad de Sejón rey de los Amorreos: el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y había tomado toda su tierra de su poder hasta Arnón.
For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites; and he had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land out of his hand, even unto the Arnon.
27 Por tanto dicen los proverbiantes: Veníd a Jesebón: edifíquese, y repárese la ciudad de Sejón;
Therefore the poets say, Come to Heshbon; let the city of Sihon be built and established.
28 Que fuego salió de Jesebón, y llama de la ciudad de Sejón, y consumió a Ar de Moab, a los señores de los altos de Arnón.
For there went forth fire from Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon; It consumed Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of the Arnon.
29 ¡Ay de ti, Moab! perecido has pueblo de Camos: puso sus hijos en huida, y sus hijas en cautividad por Sejón rey de los Amorreos.
Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, people of Chemosh: He gave his sons that had escaped, and his daughters into captivity to Sihon the king of the Amorites.
30 Y Jesebón destruyó su reino hasta Dibón, y destruimos hasta Nofe y Medaba.
And we have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon; and we have laid [them] waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Así habitó Israel en la tierra del Amorreo.
And Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32 Y envió Moisés a reconocer a Jazer, y tomaron sus aldeas, y echaron al Amorreo que estaba allí.
And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took its dependent villages, and he dispossessed the Amorites that were there.
33 Y volvieron, y subieron camino de Basán, y salió contra ellos Og, rey de Basán, él y todo su pueblo para pelear en Edrai.
And they turned and went up by the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, for battle to Edrei.
34 Entonces Jehová dijo a Moisés: No le tengas miedo; que en tu mano le he dado, a él y a todo su pueblo, y a su tierra; y harás de él, como hiciste de Sejón rey de los Amorreos, que habitaba en Jezebón.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Fear him not! for into thy hand have I given him, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.
35 E hirieron a él, y a sus hijos, y a todo su pueblo, que ninguno quedó de él, y poseyeron su tierra.
And they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, so that they left him none remaining, and took possession of his land.
