San Mateo 11
1 Y aconteció, que acabando Jesús de dar mandamientos a sus doce discípulos, se fue de allí a enseñar y a predicar en las ciudades de ellos.
And it came to pass when Jesus finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.
2 Y oyendo Juan en la prisión los hechos de Cristo, envióle dos de sus discípulos,
Now when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, having sent two of his disciples,
3 Diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquel que había de venir, o esperaremos a otro?
he said to him, Are thou he who comes, or do we look for another man?
4 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, hacéd saber a Juan las cosas que oís y veis.
And having answered, Jesus said to them, After going, report to John the things that ye hear and see:
5 Los ciegos ven, y los cojos andan: los leprosos son limpiados, y los sordos oyen: los muertos son resucitados, y a los pobres es anunciado el evangelio.
the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor are proclaimed good news.
6 Y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí.
And blessed is he, whoever will not be caused to stumble by me.
7 E idos ellos, comenzó Jesús a decir de Juan a las multitudes: ¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿una caña que es meneada del viento?
And while those men departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes about John, What did ye go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
8 O ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿un hombre vestido de ropas delicadas? He aquí, los que traen ropas delicadas, en las casas de los reyes están.
But what did ye go out to see? A man clothed in delicate clothes? Behold, those wearing delicate things are in king's houses.
9 O ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿profeta? Ciertamente os digo, y más que profeta.
But what did ye go out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
10 Porque éste es de quien está escrito: He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, que aparejará tu camino delante de ti.
For this is he about whom it is written, Behold, I send my agent before thy face who will prepare thy way before thee.
11 De cierto os digo, que no se levantó entre los que nacen de mujeres otro mayor que Juan el Bautista: mas el que es muy pequeño en el reino de los cielos, mayor es que él.
Truly I say to you, among men born of women there has not been raised a greater than John the immerser. Yet the smaller in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.
12 Y desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora al reino de los cielos se hace fuerza; y los valientes lo arrebatan.
And from the days of John the immerser until now the kingdom of the heavens is treated aggressively, and aggressors seize it.
13 Porque todos los profetas, y la ley, hasta Juan profetizaron.
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 Y si queréis recibir lo, él es aquel Elías que había de venir.
And if ye are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is going to come.
15 El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
16 Mas ¿a quién compararé esta generación? Es semejante a los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, y dan voces a sus compañeros,
But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, calling to their companions,
17 Y dicen: Os tañimos flauta, y no bailasteis: os endechamos, y no lamentasteis.
and saying, We piped to you, and ye did not dance, we mourned to you, and ye did not beat the breast.
18 Porque vino Juan que ni comía ni bebía, y dicen: Demonio tiene.
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon.
19 Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores. Mas la sabiduría es justificada de sus hijos.
The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold the man, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! And wisdom is justified from her children.
20 Entonces comenzó a zaherir a las ciudades en las cuales habían sido hechas muy muchas de sus maravillas, porque no se habían arrepentido, diciendo:
Then he began to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works occurred, because they did not repent.
21 ¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! porque si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran hecho las maravillas que han sido hechas en vosotras, ya mucho ha que se hubieran arrepentido en saco y en ceniza.
Woe to thee, Chorazin! Woe to thee, Bethsaida! Because if the mighty works that occurred in you occurred in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 Por tanto yo os digo, que a Tiro y a Sidón será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que a vosotras.
Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.
23 Y tú, Capernaum, que eres levantada hasta el cielo, hasta los infiernos serás abajada; porque si en Sodoma se hubiesen hecho las maravillas que han sido hechas en ti, hubieran permanecido hasta el día de hoy. (Hadēs g86)
And thou, Capernaum, which was exalted as far as the sky. Thou will be brought down as far as Hades, because if the mighty works had occurred in Sodom that occurred in thee, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs g86)
24 Por tanto yo os digo, que a la tierra de Sodoma será más tolerable el castigo en el día del juicio, que a ti.
Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 En aquel tiempo respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Gracias te doy, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas a los sabios y entendidos, y las has revelado a los niños.
Jesus having responded at that time, said, I extol thee, O Father, Lord of the heaven and the earth, because thou hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to the childlike.
26 Así, Padre, pues que así agradó a tus ojos.
Yea, Father, because this way it was done pleasing in thy sight.
27 Todas las cosas me son entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoció al Hijo, sino el Padre: ni al Padre conoció alguno, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo le quisiere revelar.
All things were delivered to me by my Father. And no man knows the Son, except the Father, nor does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son wants to reveal him.
28 Veníd a mí, todos los que estáis trabajados, y cargados, que yo os haré descansar.
Come to me, all ye who labor and have been burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Llevád mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprendéd de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye will find rest for your souls.
30 Porque mi yugo es suave, y ligera mi carga.
For my yoke is befitting, and my burden is light.
