San Lucas 9
1 Y juntando sus doce discípulos, les dio virtud y potestad sobre todos los demonios, y que sanasen enfermedades.
And he called together the twelve, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
2 Y los envió a que predicasen el reino de Dios, y que sanasen los enfermos.
And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to heal.
3 Y les dijo: No toméis nada para el camino, ni bordones, ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero, ni tengáis dos vestidos.
And he said to them, Take nothing for the journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money, nor have two coats apiece.
4 Y en cualquiera casa que entrareis, quedád allí, y salíd de allí.
And into whatever house ye enter, there abide, and from it take your departure.
5 Y todos los que no os recibieren, saliéndoos de aquella ciudad, aun el polvo sacudíd de vuestros pies en testimonio contra ellos.
And whoever shall not receive you, shake off, when ye leave that city, even the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.
6 Y saliendo ellos, rodeaban por todas las aldeas anunciando el evangelio, y sanando por todas partes.
And they departed, and went through the towns publishing the glad tidings, and performing cures everywhere.
7 Y oyó Heródes el tetrarca todas las cosas que hacía, y estaba en duda, porque decían algunos: Que Juan había resucitado de los muertos;
And Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was taking place, and was perplexed; because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead;
8 Y otros: Que Elías había aparecido; y otros: Que algún profeta de los antiguos había resucitado.
and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets had risen.
9 Y dijo Heródes: A Juan yo le degollé: ¿quién pues será éste, de quien yo oigo tales cosas? Y procuraba verle.
But Herod said, John I beheaded; but who is this, about whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.
10 Y vueltos los apóstoles, le contaron todas las cosas que habían hecho. Y tomándolos, se apartó aparte a un lugar desierto de la ciudad que se llama Betsaida.
And the apostles returned and told him what they had done; and taking them with him, he withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida.
11 Lo cual como las gentes entendieron, le siguieron; y él les recibió, y les hablaba del reino de Dios; y sanó a los que tenían necesidad de cura.
But the multitudes, when they knew it, followed him; and he welcomed them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
12 Y el día había comenzado a declinar; y llegándose los doce, le dijeron: Despide la multitud, para que yendo a las aldeas y heredades de al derredor, se alberguen y hallen viandas; porque aquí estamos en lugar desierto.
And when the day began to decline, the twelve came and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages around, and the open country, and lodge, and get food; for we are here in a desert place.
13 Y les dice: Dádles vosotros de comer. Y dijeron ellos: No tenemos más de cinco panes y dos peces, si no vamos nosotros a comprar viandas para toda esta gente.
But he said to them, Do ye give them food. And they said, We have not more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we ourselves should go and buy food for l all these people.
14 Y eran como cinco mil hombres. Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: Hacédlos recostar por ranchos de cincuenta en cincuenta.
They were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them lie down in companies of fifty.
15 Y así lo hicieron; y recostáronse todos.
And they did so, and made them all lie down.
16 Y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, mirando al cielo los bendijo; y rompió, y dio a sus discípulos para que pusiesen delante de la multitud.
Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 Y comieron todos, y se hartaron; y alzaron lo que les sobró, los pedazos, doce esportones.
And they ate, and were all filled; and what remained to them of fragments was taken up, twelve baskets.
18 Y aconteció, que estando él solo orando, estaban con él los discípulos, y les preguntó, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen las gentes que soy yo?
And it came to pass as he was in a private place praying, that his disciples were with him; and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am?
19 Y ellos respondieron, y dijeron: Juan el Bautista; y otros: Elías; y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos ha resucitado.
And they answering said, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets hath risen.
20 Y él les dijo: ¿Mas vosotros, quién decís que soy? Entonces respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.
And he said to them, But who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
21 Entonces él encomendándoles estrechamente, les mandó que a nadie dijesen esto,
But he strictly charged them, and commanded them to tell this to no one;
22 Diciendo: Es menester que el Hijo del hombre padezca muchas cosas, y ser desechado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercero día.
saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be put to death, and rise again on the third day.
23 Y decía a todos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz cada día, y sígame.
And he said to all, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 Porque cualquiera que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá; y cualquiera que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, éste la salvará.
For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; and whoever loseth his life for my sake, he will save it.
25 Porque ¿qué aprovecha al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y se pierda él a sí mismo, o corra peligro de sí?
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit himself?
26 Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras, de este tal el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará, cuando vendrá en su gloria, y del Padre, y de los santos ángeles.
For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed, when be cometh in his glory, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels.
27 Y os digo de verdad, que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no gustarán la muerte, hasta que vean el reino de Dios.
And I tell you in truth, that there are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God.
28 Y aconteció que después de estas palabras, como ocho días, tomó a Pedro, y a Juan, y a Santiago, y subió a un monte a orar.
And it came to pass about eight days after this discourse, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray.
29 Y entre tanto que oraba, la apariencia de su rostro se hizo otra; y su vestido blanco y resplandeciente.
And while he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was changed, and his raiment became white and glistening.
30 Y, he aquí, dos varones que hablaban con él, los cuales eran Moisés, y Elías,
And lo! two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah;
31 Que aparecieron en gloria, y hablaban de su salida, la cual había de cumplir en Jerusalem.
who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure which he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem.
32 Y Pedro, y los que estaban con él, estaban cargados de sueño; y como despertaron, vieron su gloria, y a los dos varones que estaban con él.
But Peter and those who were with him were weighed down with sleep. But when they awoke, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33 Y aconteció, que apartándose ellos de él, Pedro dice a Jesús: Maestro, bien es que nos quedemos aquí; y hagamos tres cabañas, una para ti, y una para Moisés, y una para Elías; no sabiendo lo que se decía.
And it came to pass as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah; —not knowing what he said.
34 Y estando él hablando esto, vino una nube que los hizo sombra; y tuvieron temor entrando ellos en la nube.
But as he was saying this, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
35 Y vino una voz de la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, a él oíd.
And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, “This is my chosen Son; hear him.”
36 Y pasada aquella voz, Jesús fue hallado solo, y ellos callaron, y por aquellos días no dijeron nada a nadie de lo que habían visto.
And when the voice had come, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it secret, and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
37 Y aconteció el día siguiente, que bajando ellos del monte, un gran gentío le salió al encuentro;
And it came to pass that on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him.
38 Y, he aquí, que un hombre de la multitud clamó, diciendo: Maestro, ruégote que veas a mi hijo el único que tengo.
And lo! a man from the multitude cried out, saying, Teacher, I beseech thee, look upon my son, for he is my only child;
39 Y, he aquí, un espíritu le toma, y de repente da voces; y le despedaza de modo que echa espuma, y apenas se aparta de él, quebrantándole.
and lo! a spirit seizeth him, and suddenly crieth out, and convulseth him so that he foameth, and it departeth from him hardly, taking away all his strength.
40 Y rogué a tus discípulos que le echasen fuera, y no pudieron.
And I besought thy disciples to cast it out, and they could not.
41 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación infiel y perversa! ¿hasta cuándo tengo de estar con vosotros, y os sufriré? Trae tu hijo acá.
And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring thy son hither.
42 Y como aun se acercaba, el demonio le derribó, y le despedazó; mas Jesús riñó al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho, y le volvió a su padre.
And while he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him to his father.
43 Y todos estaban fuera de sí de la grandeza de Dios. Y maravillándose todos de todas las cosas que hacía, dijo a sus discípulos:
And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they were all wondering at all the things which he did, he said to his disciples,
44 Ponéd vosotros en vuestros oídos estas palabras; porque ha de acontecer que el Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres.
As for you, let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men.
45 Mas ellos no entendían esta palabra; y les era encubierta para que no la entendiesen, y temían de preguntarle de esta palabra.
But they knew not the meaning of these words, and it was hidden from them, that they might not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about these words.
46 Entonces entraron en disputa, cual de ellos sería el mayor.
And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was greatest.
47 Mas Jesús, viendo los pensamientos del corazón de ellos, tomó un niño, y le puso junto a sí,
And Jesus knowing the reasoning of their heart, took a child and set him by his side,
48 Y les dice: Cualquiera que recibiere este niño en mi nombre, a mí recibe; y cualquiera que me recibiere a mí, recibe al que me envió; porque el que fuere el menor entre todos vosotros, éste será el grande.
and said to them, Whoever receiveth this child in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth him who sent me. For he that is least among you all, he is great.
49 Entonces respondiendo Juan, dijo: Maestro, hemos visto a uno que echaba fuera demonios en tu nombre, y se lo vedamos, porque no te sigue con nosotros.
And John answering said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbade him, because he doth not follow in our company.
50 Jesús le dijo: No se lo vedéis, porque el que no es contra nosotros, por nosotros es.
But Jesus said to him, Forbid him not; for he that is not against you is for you.
51 Y aconteció que como se cumplió el tiempo en que había de ser recibido arriba, él afirmó su rostro para ir a Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, when the time was near for his being received up, that he himself steadily set his face to go to Jerusalem.
52 Y envió mensajeros delante de sí, los cuales fueron, y entraron en una ciudad de los Samaritanos, para aderezarle allí.
And he sent messengers before him; and they went and entered a city of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 Mas no le recibieron, porque su rostro era de hombre que iba a Jerusalem.
And they did not receive him, because his face was as if he were going to Jerusalem.
54 Y viendo esto sus discípulos, Santiago y Juan dijeron: Señor, ¿quiéres que mandemos que descienda fuego del cielo, y los consuma, como también hizo Elías?
And the disciples James and John, on seeing it, said, Lord, wilt thou have us bid fire come down from heaven, and consume them?
55 Entonces volviendo él, les riñó, diciendo: Vosotros no sabéis de que espíritu sois:
But he turned and rebuked them.
56 Porque el Hijo del hombre no ha venido para perder las vidas de los hombres, sino para salvar las. Y se fueron a otra aldea.
And they went to another village.
57 Y aconteció que yendo ellos, uno le dijo en el camino: Señor, yo te seguiré donde quiera que fueres.
And as they were traveling on the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wherever thou goest.
58 Y le dijo Jesús: Las zorras tienen cuevas, y las aves de los cielos nidos; mas el Hijo del hombre no tiene donde recline su cabeza.
And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodging-places; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 Y dijo a otro: Sígueme. Y él dijo: Señor, déjame que primero vaya, y entierre a mi padre.
And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Y Jesús le dijo: Deja los muertos que entierren a sus muertos; mas tú vé, y anuncia el reino de Dios.
And he said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but go thou and carry the tidings of the kingdom of God.
61 Entonces también dijo otro: Seguirte he, Señor: mas déjame que me despida primero de los que están en mi casa.
And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to those who are in my house.
62 Y Jesús le dijo: Ninguno que poniendo su mano al arado mirare atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.
And Jesus said to him, No one who looketh back after putting his hand to the plough is fit for the kingdom of God.
