Jueces 8
1 Y los de Efraím le dijeron. ¿Qué es esto que has hecho con nosotros, no llamándonos cuando ibas a la guerra contra Madián? Y riñéronle fuertemente.
And the men of Ephraim said to Gedeon, What [is] this [that] you have done to us, in that you did not call us when you went to fight with Madiam? and they chode with him sharply.
2 A los cuales él respondió; ¿Qué he hecho yo ahora como vosotros? ¿El rebusco de Efraím no es mejor que la vendimia de Abiezer?
And he said to them, What have I now done in comparison of you? [is] not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?
3 Dios ha entregado en vuestras manos a Oreb y a Zeb príncipes de Madián; y ¿qué pude yo hacer como vosotros? Entonces el enojo de ellos contra él se aplacó, como él habló esta palabra.
The Lord has delivered into your hand the princes of Madiam, Oreb and Zeb; and what could I do in comparison of you? Then was their spirit calmed towards him, when he spoke this word.
4 Y vino Gedeón al Jordán para pasar, él y los trescientos hombres que traía consigo, cansados del alcance.
And Gedeon came to Jordan, and went over, himself and the three hundred with him, hungry, yet pursuing.
5 Y dijo a los de Socot: Yo os ruego que deis al pueblo que me sigue algunos bocados de pan, porque están cansados, para que yo siga a Zebee, y a Salmana reyes de Madián.
And he said to the men of Socchoth, Give, I pray you, bread to feed this people that follow me; because they are faint, and behold, I am following after Zebee and Salmana, kings of Madiam.
6 Y los principales de Socot respondieron: ¿Está ya la mano de Zebee y de Salmana en tu mano, para que hayamos nosotros de dar pan a tu ejército?
And the princes of Socchoth said, [Are] the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in your hand, that we should give bread to your host?
7 Y Gedeón dijo: Pues cuando Jehová hubiere entregado en mi mano a Zebee y a Salmana, yo trillaré vuestra carne con espinas y abrojos del desierto.
And Gedeon said, Therefore when the Lord gives Zebee and Salmana into my hand, then will I tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness, and the Barkenim.
8 Y de allí subió a Fanuel, y hablóles las mismas palabras. Y los de Fanuel le respondieron, como habían respondido los de Socot.
And he went up thence to Phanuel, and spoke to them likewise: and the men of Phanuel answered him as the men of Socchoth [had] answered him.
9 Y él habló también a los de Fanuel, diciendo: Cuando yo tornare en paz, yo derribaré esta torre.
And Gedeon said to the men of Phanuel, When I return in peace, I will break down this tower.
10 Y Zebee y Salmana estaban en Carcor, y tenían consigo su ejército de como quince mil hombres, todos los que habían quedado de todo el campo de los Orientales y los muertos habían sido ciento y veinte mil hombres, que sacaban espada.
And Zebee and Salmana [were] in Carcar, and their host [was] with them, about fifteen thousand, all that were left of all the host of the aliens; and they that fell [were] a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew the sword.
11 Y subiendo Gedeón hacia los que estaban en las tiendas a la parte oriental de Nobe, y de Jegbaa, hirió el campo, porque el campo estaba seguro.
And Gedeon went up by the way of them that lived in tents, eastward of Nabai and Jegebal; and he struck the host, and the host was secure.
12 Y huyendo Zebee y Salmana, él los siguió, y tomados los dos reyes de Madián, Zebee y Salmana, espantó a todo el ejército.
And Zebee and Salmana fled; and he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Madiam, Zebee and Salmana, and discomfited all the army.
13 Y volvió Gedeón hijo de Joas de la batalla antes que el sol subiese.
And Gedeon the son of Joas returned from the battle, down from the battle of Ares.
14 Y tomó un mozo de los de Socot, y preguntándole, él le dio por escrito los principales de Socot y sus ancianos, setenta y siete varones.
And he took prisoner a young lad of the men of Socchoth, and questioned him; and he wrote to him the names of the princes of Socchoth and of their elders, seventy-seven men.
15 Y entrando a los de Socot, dijo: He aquí a Zebee, y a Salmana de los cuales me zaheristeis, diciendo: ¿Está ya la mano de Zebee y de Salmana en tu mano para que demos nosotros pan a tus varones cansados?
And Gedeon came to the princes of Socchoth, and said, Behold Zebee and Salmana, about whom you reproached me, saying, [Are] the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men that are faint?
16 Y tomó a los ancianos de la ciudad, y espinas y abrojos del desierto, y castigó con ellas a los de Socot.
And he took the elders of the city with the thorns of the wilderness and the Barkenim, and with them he tore the men of the city.
17 Asimismo derribó la torre de Fanuel, y mató a los de la ciudad.
And he overthrew the tower of Phanuel, and killed the men of the city.
18 Y dijo a Zebee y a Salmana: ¿Qué manera de hombres tenían aquellos que matasteis en Tabor? Y ellos respondieron: Como tú, tales eran aquellos, ni más ni menos, que parecían hijos de rey.
And he said to Zebee and Salmana, Where [are] the men whom you killed in Thabor? and they said, As you, so [were] they, according to the likeness of the son of a king.
19 Y él dijo: Mis hermanos eran, hijos de mi madre: vive Jehová, que si los hubierais guardado en vida, yo no os mataría.
And Gedeon said, They were my brethren and the sons of my mother: [as] the Lord lives, if you had preserved them alive, I would not have slain you.
20 Y dijo a Jeter su primogénito: Levántate, y mátalos: mas el muchacho no desenvainó su espada, porque tenía temor, que aun era muchacho.
And he said to Jether his firstborn, Rise and kill them; but the lad drew not his sword, for he was afraid, for he was yet very young.
21 Entonces dijo Zebee y Salmana: Levántate tú, y mátanos, porque como es el varón tal es su valentía. Y Gedeón se levantó, y mató a Zebee y a Salmana, y tomó las planchas que sus camellos traían al cuello.
And Zebee and Salmana said, Rise you and fall upon us, for your power [is] as that of a man; and Gedeon arose, and killed Zebee and Salmana: and he took the round ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.
22 Y los Israelitas dijeron a Gedeón: Sé nuestro señor tú, y tu hijo, y tu nieto: pues que nos has librado de mano de Madián.
And the men of Israel said to Gedeon, Rule, [my] lord, over us, both you, and your son, and your son's son; for you have saved us out of the hand of Madiam.
23 Mas Gedeón respondió: No seré señor sobre vosotros, ni mi hijo os señoreará: Jehová será vuestro Señor.
And Gedeon said to them, I will not rule, and my son shall not rule amongst you; the Lord shall rule over you.
24 Y díjoles más Gedeón: Yo demando de vosotros una demanda, que cada uno me dé los zarcillos de su despojo: (porque traían zarcillos de oro, que eran Ismaelitas.)
And Gedeon said to them, I will make a request of you, and do you give me every man an earring out of his spoils: for they had golden earrings, for they were Ismaelites.
25 Y ellos respondieron: De buena gana los daremos. Y tendiendo una ropa de vestir echó allí cada uno los zarcillos de su despojo.
And they said, We will certainly give them: and he opened his garment, and each man cast therein an earring of his spoils.
26 Y fue el peso de los zarcillos de oro, que el pidió, mil y siete cientos siclos de oro; sin las planchas, y joyeles, y vestidos de púrpura, que traían los reyes de Madián, y sin los collares que traían sus camellos al cuello.
And the weight of the golden earrings which he asked, was a thousand and seven hundred pieces of gold, besides the crescents, and the chains, and the garments, and the purple cloths that were on the kings of Madiam, and besides the chains that were on the necks of their camels.
27 Y Gedeón hizo de ellos un efod, el cual hizo guardar en su ciudad de Efra: y todo Israel fornicaron tras de él en aquel lugar, y fue por tropezadero a Gedeón, y a su casa.
And Gedeon made an ephod of it, an set it in his city in Ephratha; and all Israel went there a whoring after it, and it became a stumbling block to Gedeon and his house.
28 Así fue humillado Madián delante de los hijos de Israel, y nunca más levantaron su cabeza; y reposó la tierra cuarenta años en los días de Gedeón.
And Madiam, was straitened before the children of Israel, and they did not lift up their head any more; and the land had rest forty years in the days of Gedeon.
29 Y Jerubaal hijo de Joas fue, y habitó en su casa.
And Jerobaal the son of Joas went and sat in his house.
30 Y tuvo Gedeón setenta hijos que salieron de su muslo; porque tuvo muchas mujeres.
And Gedeon had seventy sons begotten of his body, for he had many wives.
31 Y su concubina que estaba en Siquem, también le parió un hijo, y púsole por nombre Abi-melec.
And his concubine was in Sychem, and she also bore him a son, and gave him the name Abimelech.
32 Y murió Gedeón, hijo de Joas, en buena vejez, y fue sepultado en el sepulcro de su padre Joas, en Efra de los Abiezeritas.
And Gedeon son of Joas died in his city, and he was buried in the sepulchre of Joas his father in Ephratha of Abi-Esdri.
33 Y aconteció que como murió Gedeón, los hijos de Israel tornaron, y fornicaron en pos de los Baales: y se pusieron por dios a Baal-berit.
And it came to pass when Gedeon was dead, that the children of Israel turned, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made for themselves a covenant with Baal that he should be their god.
34 Y no se acordaron los hijos de Israel de Jehová su Dios, que los había librado de todos sus enemigos al derredor.
And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God who had delivered them out of the hand of all that afflicted them round about.
35 Ni hicieron misericordia con la casa de Jerubaal Gedeón, conforme a todo el bien que él había hecho a Israel.
And they did not deal mercifully with the house of Jerobaal, (the same is Gedeon) according to all the good which he did to Israel.
