Jueces 6

1 Mas los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y Jehová los entregó en las manos de Madián siete años.

And the children of Israel did the evil in the eyes of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

2 Y la mano de Madián prevaleció contra Israel. Y los hijos de Israel por causa de los Madianitas se hicieron cuevas en los montes, y cavernas, y lugares fuertes.

And the hand of Midian prevailed over Israel; and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made for themselves the passes which are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.

3 Porque como los de Israel habían sembrado, subían los Madianitas y Amalecitas, y los hijos de oriente subían contra ellos:

And it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the 'Amalekites, and the children of the east, and they went up against them;

4 Y asentando campo contra ellos destruían los frutos de la tierra hasta llegar a Gaza: no dejando que comer en Israel, ni ovejas, ni bueyes, ni asnos.

And they encamped against them, and destroyed the products of the earth, as far as Gazzah, and they left no sustenance for Israel, neither lamb, nor ox, nor ass.

5 Porque subían ellos y sus ganados, y venían con sus tiendas en grande multitud como langosta, que no había número en ellos ni en sus camellos: y venían en la tierra destruyéndola.

For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and came as locusts in multitude; and both they and their camels were without number; and they came into the land to destroy it.

6 E Israel era en grande manera empobrecido por los Madianitas: y los hijos de Israel clamaron a Jehová.

And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord.

7 Y cuando los hijos de Israel hubieron clamado a Jehová, a causa de los Madianitas,

And it came to pass, when the children of Israel had cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites,

8 Jehová envió un varón profeta a los hijos de Israel, el cual les dijo: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Yo os saqué de Egipto, y de la casa de servidumbre os saqué:

That the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, and he said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, I led you forth out of Egypt, and brought you out of the house of slavery;

9 Yo os libré de mano de los Egipcios y de mano de todos los que os afligieron: a los cuales eché de delante de vosotros, y os di su tierra;

And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and I drove them out from before you, and gave you their land;

10 Y os dije: Yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios, no temáis a los dioses de los Amorreos en cuya tierra habitáis, mas no oísteis mi voz.

And I said unto you, I am the Lord your God: ye shall not fear the gods of the Emorites, in whose land ye dwell; but ye have not obeyed my voice.

11 Y vino el ángel de Jehová, y sentóse debajo del alcornoque que está en Efra, el cual era de Joas Abiezerita; y su hijo Gedeón estaba sacudiendo el trigo en el lagar, para hacerlo esconder de los Madianitas.

And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat down under the oak which was in 'Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi'ezrite; and Gid'on his son was beating out wheat in the wine-press, to hide it from the Midianites.

12 Y el ángel de Jehová se le apareció, y díjole: Jehová es contigo varón valiente de fuerza.

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.

13 Y Gedeón le respondió: Ay, Señor mío, si Jehová es con nosotros; ¿por qué nos ha comprendido todo esto? ¿Y dónde están todas sus maravillas, que nuestros padres nos han contado, diciendo: No nos sacó Jehová de Egipto? Y ahora Jehová nos ha desamparado, y nos ha entregado en mano de los Madianitas.

And Gid'on said unto him, Pardon, my lord, if the Lord be indeed with us, why then hath all this befallen us? and where are all his wonders of which our fathers have told us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt! But now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.

14 Y mirándole Jehová, díjole: Anda, vé con esta tu fortaleza, y salvarás a Israel de la mano de los Madianitas. ¿No te envío yo?

And the Lord turned toward him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: behold, I have sent thee.

15 El entonces le respondió: Ay, Señor mío, ¿con qué tengo de salvar a Israel? He aquí que mi familia es pobre en Manasés: y yo el menor en la casa de mi padre.

And he said unto him, Pardon my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is the weakest in Menasseh, and I am the youngest of my father's house.

16 Y Jehová le dijo: Porque yo seré contigo; y tú herirás a los Madianitas, como a un varón.

And the Lord said unto him, Because I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

17 Y él respondió: Yo te ruego, que, si he hallado gracia delante de ti, me des señal, de que tú has hablado conmigo.

And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy eyes, then give me a sign that thou hast been speaking with me;

18 Ruégote, que no te vayas de aquí hasta que yo vuelva a ti, y saque mi presente, y lo ponga delante de ti. Y él respondió: Yo esperaré hasta que vuelvas.

Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thy return.

19 Y entrándose Gedeón aparejó un cabrito de las cabras, y panes sin levadura de un efa de harina, y puso la carne en un canastillo; y el caldo en una olla: y sacándolo presentóselo debajo de aquel alcornoque.

And Gid'on went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and the broth he put in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.

20 Y el ángel de Dios le dijo: Toma la carne, y los panes sin levadura, y pónlo sobre esta peña: y vierte el caldo. Y él lo hizo así.

And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and the broth pour out. And he did so.

21 Y extendiendo el ángel de Jehová el canto del bordón que tenía en su mano, tocó en la carne y en los panes sin levadura: y subió fuego de la peña, el cual consumió la carne y los panes sin levadura, y el ángel de Jehová desapareció de delante de él.

Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. And the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.

22 Y viendo Gedeón que era el ángel de Jehová, dijo: Ay, Señor Jehová, que he visto al ángel de Jehová cara a cara.

And when Gid'on perceived that it was an angel of the Lord, Gid'on said, Alas, O Lord Eternal! because I have surely seen an angel of the Lord face to face.

23 Y Jehová le dijo: Paz a ti, no hayas temor; no morirás.

And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

24 Y edificó allí Gedeón altar a Jehová, al cual llamó Jehová-salom, el cual dura hasta hoy en Efra de los Abiezeritas.

And Gid'on built there an altar unto the Lord, and called it Adonay-shalom [[the Eternal of Peace: ]] unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi'ezrites.

25 Y aconteció que la misma noche le dijo Jehová: Toma un toro del hato de tu padre, y otro toro de siete años, y derriba el altar de Baal que tu padre tiene, y corta también el bosque que está junto a él:

And it came to pass in the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, and the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal which belongeth to thy father, and the grove that is around it shalt thou cut down.

26 Y edifica altar a Jehová tu Dios en la cumbre de este peñasco en lugar conveniente; y tomando el segundo toro sacrifícalo en holocausto sobre la leña del bosque, que habrás cortado.

And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock, on the level place, and take the second bullock, and offer [it as] a burnt-sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

27 Entonces Gedeón tomó diez varones de sus siervos, e hizo como Jehová le dijo. Mas temiendo de hacerlo de día, por la familia de su padre, y por los hombres de la ciudad, hízolo de noche.

And Gid'on took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord had spoken unto him; but it came to pass, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, to do it by day, that he did it by night.

28 Y a la mañana cuando los de la ciudad se levantaron, he aquí que el altar de Baal estaba derribado; y el bosque, que estaba junto a él, cortado; y el segundo becerro sacrificado en holocausto sobre el altar de nuevo edificado.

And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was overthrown, and the grove that was around it was cut down, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar which had been built.

29 Y dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién ha hecho esto? Y buscando e inquiriendo, dijéronles: Gedeón hijo de Joas lo ha hecho. Entonces los varones de la ciudad dijeron a Joas:

And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And they inquired and searched, and then said, Gid'on the son of Joash hath done this thing.

30 Saca fuera tu hijo para que muera, por cuanto ha derribado el altar de Baal; y ha cortado el bosque, que estaba junto a él.

Thereupon said the men of the city unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die; because he hath overthrown the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was around it.

31 Y Joas respondió a todos los que estaban cerca de él: ¿Tomaréis vosotros el pleito por Baal? ¿o salvarle heis vosotros? Cualquiera que tomare el pleito por él, que muera mañana. Si es dios, pleitee por sí con el que derribó su altar.

But Joash said unto all that stood around him, Will ye indeed contend for Baal? will ye assist him? he that will contend for him, shall be put to death; [wait] until morning: if he be a god, let him contend for himself, because one hath overthrown his altar.

32 Y aquel día le llamó Jerubaal, porque dijo: Pleitée Baal contra el que derribó su altar.

And the people called him on that day Yerubba'al, saying, Let Baal contend against him, because he hath overthrown his altar.

33 Y todos los Madianitas, y Amalecitas, y Orientales se juntaron a una, y pasando asentaron campo en el valle de Jezrael.

And all the Midianites and 'Amalekites and the children of the east assembled together, and went over and encamped in the valley of Yizre'el.

34 Y el Espíritu de Jehová se envistió en Gedeón, el cual como hubo tocado el cuerno, Abiezer se juntó con él.

But the Spirit of the Lord endued Gid'on, and he blew the cornet: and Abi'ezer assembled and followed him.

35 Y envió mensajeros por todo Manasés; el cual también se juntó con él. Y envió mensajeros a Aser, y a Zabulón, y a Neftalí, los cuales los salieron a recibir.

And he sent messengers throughout all Menasseh, who also assembled and followed him; and he sent messengers through Asher, and through Zebulun, and through Naphtali, and they came up to meet them.

36 Y Gedeón dijo a Dios: Si has de salvar a Israel por mi mano, como has dicho,

And Gid'on said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast spoken,

37 He aquí que yo pondré un vellocino de lana en la era; y si el rocío estuviere en el vellocino solamente, quedando seca toda la otra tierra, entonces entenderé que has de salvar a Israel por mi mano, como lo has dicho.

Behold, I set up this fleece of wool in the threshing floor: if now there be dew on the fleece alone, and it be dry upon all the ground, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast spoken.

38 Y aconteció así porque como se levantó de mañana exprimiendo el vellocino sacó de él el rocío, un vaso lleno de agua.

And it was so; and when he rose up early on the morrow, he squeezed the fleece together, and wrung dew out of the fleece, [making] a bowl full of water.

39 Mas Gedeón dijo a Dios: No se encienda tu ira contra mí, si aun hablare esta vez: Solamente probaré ahora otra vez con el vellocino. Ruégote que la sequedad sea en solo el vellocino: y el rocío sobre la tierra.

And Gid'on said unto God, Let not thy anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once [more]; let me have a proof, I pray thee, but this once more with the fleece; let it, I pray, be dry upon the fleece alone, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

40 Y aquella noche lo hizo Dios así: porque la sequedad fue en solo el vellocino, y en toda la tierra estuvo el rocío.

And God did so that night; and it was dry upon the fleece alone, and on all the ground there was dew.
