Jueces 17

1 Fue un varón del monte de Efraím, que se llamaba Micas:

Now there was a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

2 El cual dijo a su madre: Los mil y cien siclos de plata, que te fueron hurtados, y tú maldecias, oyéndolo yo, he aquí que yo tengo este dinero: yo lo había tomado. Entonces la madre dijo: Bendito seas de Jehová, hijo mío.

And he said unto his mother: 'The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou didst utter a curse, and didst also speak it in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it.' And his mother said: 'Blessed be my son of the LORD.'

3 Y después que él hubo tornado a su madre los mil y cien siclos de plata, su madre dijo: yo he dedicado este dinero a Jehová de mi mano para ti, hijo mío, para que hagas imagen de talla y de fundición: por tanto yo ahora te lo vuelvo.

And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said: 'I verily dedicate the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore I will restore it unto thee.'

4 Mas volviendo él los dineros a su madre, su madre tomó doscientos siclos de plata, y diólos al fundidor, y él le hizo de ellos una imagen de talla y de fundición, la cual fue puesta en casa de Micas.

And when he restored the money unto his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image; and it was in the house of Micah.

5 Y tuvo este hombre Micas casa de dioses: e hízose hacer efod, y terafim, y consagró uno de sus hijos, y fuéle por sacerdote.

And the man Micah had a house of God, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 En estos días no había rey en Israel: mas cada uno hacía como mejor le parecía.

In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

7 Y había un mancebo de Belén de Judá, de la tribu de Judá, el cual era Levita, y peregrinaba allí.

And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem in Judah — in the family of Judah — who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.

8 Este varón se había partido de la ciudad de Belén de Judá, para ir a vivir donde hallase: y llegando al monte de Efraím, vino a casa de Micas, para de allí hacer su camino.

And the man departed out of the city, out of Beth-lehem in Judah, to sojourn where he could find a place; and he came to the hill-country of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

9 Y Micas le dijo: ¿De dónde vienes? Y el Levita le respondió: Soy de Belén de Judá, y voy a vivir donde hallare.

And Micah said unto him: 'Whence comest thou?' And he said unto him: 'I am a Levite of Beth-lehem in Judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.'

10 Entonces Micas le dijo: Quédate en mi casa, y serme has en lugar de padre y de sacerdote: y yo te daré diez siclos de plata por un cierto tiempo, y el ordinario de vestidos, y tu comida. Y el Levita se quedó.

And Micah said unto him: 'Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals.' So the Levite went in.

11 Y el Levita acordó de morar con aquel hombre, y él le tenía como a uno de sus hijos.

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

12 Y Micas consagró al Levita, y aquel mancebo le servía de sacerdote: y estuvo en casa de Micas.

And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

13 Y Micas dijo: Ahora sé que Jehová me hará bien, pues que el Levita es hecho mi sacerdote.

Then said Micah: 'Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite as my priest.'
