Juan 5

1 Después de estas cosas, había una fiesta de los Judíos, y subió Jesús a Jerusalem.

After these things there was the feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 Y hay en Jerusalem junto a la puerta del ganado un estanque, que en lengua Hebrea es llamado Betesda, el cual tiene cinco pórticos.

Now there is at Jerusalem, by the sheep-gate, a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethzatha, having five porches.

3 En estos estaba echada una grande multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos, secos, que estaban esperando el movimiento del agua;

In these were lying a multitude of diseased persons, blind, lame, withered.

4 Porque un ángel descendía a cierto tiempo al estanque, y revolvía el agua; y el que primero entraba en el estanque, después del movimiento del agua, quedaba sano de cualquier enfermedad que tuviese.

5 Y estaba allí un hombre, que había treinta y ocho años que estaba enfermo.

And a certain man was there, who had had his infirmity thirty-eight years.

6 Como Jesús le vio echado, y entendió que ya había mucho tiempo que estaba enfermo, dícele: ¿Quiéres ser sano?

Jesus saw this man lying there, and knowing that he had been for a long time diseased, saith to him, Dost thou wish to be made well?

7 Y el enfermo le respondió: Señor, no tengo hombre, que cuando el agua fuere revuelta, me meta en el estanque; porque entre tanto que yo voy, otro antes de mí ha descendido.

The diseased man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another goeth down before me.

8 Dícele Jesús: Levántate, toma tu lecho, y anda.

Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 Y luego aquel hombre fue sano, y tomó su lecho, e íbase; y era sábado aquel día.

And immediately the man was made well, and took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the sabbath.

10 Entonces los Judíos decían a aquel que había sido sanado: Sábado es, no te es lícito llevar tu lecho.

The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath; and it is not lawful for thee to take up the bed.

11 Respondióles: El que me sanó, el mismo me dijo: Toma tu lecho, y anda.

He answered them, He that made me well, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk. T

12 Y le preguntaron entonces: ¿Quién es el que te dijo: Toma tu lecho, y anda?

hey asked him, Who is the man that said to thee, Take up, and walk?

13 Y el que había sido sanado, no sabía quien fuese; porque Jesús se había apartado de la multitud que estaba en aquel lugar.

But the diseased man knew not who it was; for Jesus had withdrawn himself, there being a crowd in the place.

14 Después le halló Jesús en el templo, y le dijo: He aquí, ya estás sano: no peques más, porque no te venga alguna cosa peor.

Afterwards Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art made well; sin no more, lest something worse befall thee.

15 El hombre se fue entonces, y dio aviso a los Judíos, que Jesús era el que le había sanado.

The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

16 Y por esta causa los Judíos perseguían a Jesús, y procuraban matarle, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado.

And on this account the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.

17 Y Jesús les respondió: Mi Padre hasta ahora obra, y yo obro.

But he answered them, My Father is working up to this time, and I work.

18 Entonces por tanto más procuraban los Judíos matarle; porque no solo quebrantaba el sábado, mas aun también decía que era Dios su Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios.

On this account the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.

19 Respondió pues Jesús, y les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que no puede el Hijo hacer algo de sí mismo, sino lo que viere hacer al Padre; porque todo lo que él hace, esto también hace el Hijo juntamente.

Then answered Jesus and said to them, Truly, truly do I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing; for whatever He doeth, these things the Son also doeth in like manner;

20 Porque el Padre ama al Hijo, y le muestra todas las cosas que él hace; y mayores obras que estas le mostrará, de modo que vosotros os maravilléis.

for the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things which he himself doeth; and greater works than these will he show him, so that ye will wonder.

21 Porque como el Padre levanta los muertos, y les da vida, así también el Hijo a los que quiere da vida.

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth them life, so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.

22 Porque el Padre a nadie juzga, mas todo el juicio dio al Hijo;

For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgment to the Son;

23 Para que todos honren al Hijo, como honran al Padre: el que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que le envió.

that all may honor the Son, as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father, who sent him.

24 De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que el que oye mi palabra, y cree al que me envió, tiene vida eterna; y no vendrá en condenación, mas pasó de muerte a vida. (aiōnios g166)

Truly, truly do I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but hath passed out of death into life. (aiōnios g166)

25 De cierto, de cierto os digo: Que vendrá hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios; y los que oyeren, vivirán.

Truly, truly do I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear will live.

26 Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así dio también al Hijo que tuviese vida en sí mismo.

For as the Father hath life in himself, so did he give to the Son also to have life in himself.

27 Y también le dio poder de hacer juicio, porque es el Hijo del hombre.

And he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.

28 No os maravilléis de esto; porque vendrá hora, cuando todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz;

Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,

29 Y los que hicieron bien, saldrán a resurrección de vida; y los que hicieron mal, a resurrección de condenación.

and will come forth, they that have done good, to a resurrection of life; they that have done evil, to a resurrection of condemnation.

30 No puedo yo de mí mismo hacer algo: como oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, mas la voluntad del Padre que me envió.

I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

31 Si yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero.

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32 Otro es el que da testimonio de mí; y yo sé que el testimonio que él da de mí, es verdadero.

There is another who beareth witness of me; and ye know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33 Vosotros enviasteis a Juan, y él dio testimonio a la verdad.

Ye have sent to John, and he hath borne witness to the truth.

34 Empero yo no tomo el testimonio de hombre: mas digo estas cosas, para que vosotros seáis salvos.

But the testimony which I receive is not from man; but these things I say, that ye may be saved.

35 El era antorcha que ardía, y alumbraba; y vosotros quisisteis regocijaros por un poco en su luz.

He was the burning and shining lamp: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36 Mas yo tengo mayor testimonio que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre me dio que cumpliese, es a saber, las mismas obras que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí, que el Padre me haya enviado.

But the testimony which I have, is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the works themselves which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37 Y el Padre mismo que me envió, él dio testimonio de mí. Vosotros nunca habéis oído su voz, ni habéis visto su parecer.

And the Father who sent me, he hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

38 Ni tenéis su palabra permanente en vosotros; porque al que él envió, a éste vosotros no creéis.

And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he sent, him ye believe not.

39 Escudriñád las Escrituras; porque a vosotros os parece, que en ellas tenéis la vida eterna; y ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí; (aiōnios g166)

Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me; (aiōnios g166)

40 Y no queréis venir a mí, para que tengáis vida.

and ye are not willing to come to me, that ye may have life.

41 Gloria de los hombres no recibo.

I receive not honor from men;

42 Mas yo os conozco, que no tenéis el amor de Dios en vosotros.

but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibís: si otro viniere en su proprio nombre, a aquel recibiréis.

I have come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 ¿Cómo podéis vosotros creer, los que tomáis gloria los unos de los otros? y no buscáis la gloria que de solo Dios viene.

How can ye believe while ye receive honor from one another, and seek not the honor that is from him who alone is God?

45 No pensáis que yo os tengo de acusar delante del Padre: hay quien os acusa, es a saber, Moisés, en quien vosotros esperáis.

Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye have placed your hope.

46 Porque si vosotros creyeseis a Moisés, creeríais a mí; porque de mí escribió él.

For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.

47 Y si a sus escritos no creeis, ¿cómo creeréis a mis palabras?

But if ye do not believe his writings, how will ye believe my words?
