Jeremías 8
1 En aquel tiempo, dijo Jehová, sacarán los huesos de los reyes de Judá, y los huesos de sus príncipes, y los huesos de los sacerdotes, y los huesos de los profetas, y los huesos de los moradores de Jerusalem, fuera de sus sepulcros.
At that time, says the Lord, they will take the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his rulers, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem out of their resting-places:
2 Y derramarlos han al sol, y a la luna, y a todo el ejército del cielo a quien amaron, y a quien sirvieron, y en pos de quien caminaron, y a quien preguntaron, y a quien se encorvaron. No serán cogidos, ni enterrados: serán por muladar sobre la haz de la tierra.
And they will put them out before the sun and the moon and all the stars of heaven, whose lovers and servants they have been, after whom they have gone, to whom they have made prayers, and to whom they have given worship: they will not be put together or placed in the earth; they will be waste on the face of the earth.
3 Y escogerse ha la muerte más bien que las vidas, por todo el resto que quedare de esta mala generación, en todos los lugares a donde yo los arrojaré, a los que quedaren, dijo Jehová de los ejércitos.
And death will be desired more than life by the rest of this evil family who are still living in all the places where I have sent them away, says the Lord of armies.
4 Decirles has pues: Así dijo Jehová: ¿El que cae, nunca se levanta? ¿El que se aparta, nunca torna?
Further, you are to say to them, This is what the Lord has said: Will those who are falling not be lifted up again? will he who has gone away not come back?
5 ¿Por qué es rebelde este pueblo de Jerusalem de rebeldía perpetua? Tomaron el engaño, no quisieron volverse.
Why do these people of Jerusalem go back, for ever turning away? they will not give up their deceit, they will not come back.
6 Escuché, y oí: no hablan derecho, no hay hombre que se arrepienta de su mal, diciendo: ¿Qué he hecho? Cada cual se volvió a su carrera, como caballo que arremete con ímpetu a la batalla.
I took note and gave ear, but no one said what is right: no man had regret for his evil-doing, saying, What have I done? everyone goes off on his way like a horse rushing to the fight.
7 Aun la cigüeña en el cielo conoció su tiempo, y la tórtola, y la grulla, y la golondrina guardan el tiempo de su venida; y mi pueblo no conoció el juicio de Jehová.
Truly, the stork in the heavens is conscious of her fixed times; the dove and the swallow and the crane keep to the times of their coming; but my people have no knowledge of the law of the Lord.
8 ¿Cómo decís: Nosotros somos sabios, y la ley de Jehová tenemos con nosotros? Cierto he aquí que por demás se cortó la pluma, por demás fueron los escribanos.
How is it that you say, We are wise and the law of the Lord is with us? But see, the false pen of the scribes has made it false.
9 Los sabios se avergonzaron, espantáronse, y fueron presos: he aquí que aborrecieron la palabra de Jehová; ¿y qué sabiduría tienen?
The wise men are shamed, they are overcome with fear and taken: see, they have given up the word of the Lord; and what use is their wisdom to them?
10 Por tanto daré a otros sus mujeres, y sus heredades a quien las posea; porque desde el chico hasta el grande cada uno sigue la avaricia, desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote todos hacen engaño.
So I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who will take them for themselves: for everyone, from the least to the greatest, is given up to getting money; from the priest even to the prophet, everyone is false.
11 Y curaron el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo con liviandad, diciendo: Paz, paz; y no hay paz.
And they have made little of the wounds of the daughter of Zion, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
12 ¿Hánse avergonzado de haber hecho abominación? Cierto no se han avergonzado de vergüenza, ni supieron avergonzarse: por tanto caerán entre los que cayeren, cuando los visitaré. Caerán, dice Jehová.
Let them be put to shame because they have done disgusting things. They had no shame, they were not able to become red with shame: so they will come down with those who are falling: in the time of their punishment they will be made low, says the Lord.
13 Cortando los cortaré, dijo Jehová: No hay uvas en la vid, ni higos en la higuera, y la hoja se caerá; y lo que les he dado pasará de ellos.
I will put an end to them completely, says the Lord: there are no grapes on the vine and no figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf is dry.
14 ¿Sobre qué nos aseguramos? Juntáos y entrémosnos en las ciudades fuertes, y allí callaremos; porque Jehová nuestro Dios nos hizo callar, y nos dio a beber bebida de hiel, porque pecamos a Jehová.
Why are we seated doing nothing? come together, and let us go to the walled towns, and let destruction overtake us there, for the Lord our God has sent destruction on us, and given us bitter water for our drink, because we have done evil against the Lord.
15 Esperar paz, y no bien: día de cura, y he aquí turbación.
We were looking for peace, but no good came; and for a time of well-being, but there is only a great fear.
16 Desde Dan se oyó el ronquido de sus caballos: del sonido de los relinchos de sus fuertes tembló toda la tierra; y vinieron, y comieron la tierra y su abundancia, ciudad y moradores de ella.
The loud breathing of the horses comes to our ears from Dan: at the sound of the outcry of his war-horses, all the land is shaking with fear; for they have come, and have made a meal of the land and everything in it; the town and the people living in it.
17 Porque he aquí que yo envío sobre vosotros serpientes basiliscos, contra los cuales no hay encantamento; y morderos han, dijo Jehová.
See, I will send snakes and poison-snakes among you, against which the wonder-worker has no power; and they will give you wounds which may not be made well, says the Lord.
18 A causa de mi fuerte dolor, mi corazón desfallece en mí.
Sorrow has come on me! my heart in me is feeble.
19 He aquí voz del clamor de la hija de mi pueblo, que viene de tierra lejana. ¿No está Jehová en Sión? ¿No está en ella su rey? ¿Por qué me hicieron airar con sus imágenes de talla, con vanidades de dios ajeno?
The voice of the cry of the daughter of my people comes from a far land: Is the Lord not in Zion? is not her King in her? Why have they made me angry with their images and their strange gods which are no gods?
20 Pasóse la segada, acabóse el verano, y nosotros no hemos sido salvos.
The grain-cutting is past, the summer is ended, and no salvation has come to us.
21 Quebrantado estoy por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo: entenebrecido estoy: espanto me ha arrebatado.
For the destruction of the daughter of my people I am broken: I am dressed in the clothing of grief; fear has taken me in its grip.
22 ¿No hay triaca en Galaad? ¿no hay allí médico? ¿Por qué pues no hubo medicina para la hija de mi pueblo?
Is there no life-giving oil in Gilead? is there no expert in medical arts? why then have my people not been made well?
