Jeremías 26
1 En el principio del reino de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, fue esta palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
In the beginning of the reign of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, came this word from the Lord, saying:
2 Así dijo Jehová: Pónte en el patio de la casa de Jehová, y habla a todas las ciudades de Judá, que vienen para adorar en la casa de Jehová, todas las palabras que yo te mandé que les hablases: no detengas palabra.
Thus saith the Lord: Stand in the court of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Juda, out of which they come, to adore in the house of the Lord, all the words which I have commanded thee to to speak unto them: leave not out one word.
3 Quizás oirán, y se tornarán cada uno de su mal camino; y arrepentirme he yo del mal que pienso hacerles, por la maldad de sus obras.
If so be they will hearken and be converted every one from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil that I think to do unto them for the wickedness of their doings.
4 Decirles has: Así dijo Jehová: Si no me oyereis para andar en mi ley, la cual di delante de vosotros,
And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: If you will not hearken to me to walk in my law, which I have given to you:
5 Para oír a las palabras de mis siervos los profetas que yo os envío, madrugando y enviando, a los cuales no habéis oído:
To give ear to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent to you rising up early: and sending, and you have not hearkened:
6 Yo pondré esta casa como Silo, y daré esta ciudad en maldición a todas las naciones de la tierra.
I will make this house like Silo: and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
7 Y oyeron los sacerdotes, y los profetas, y todo el pueblo, a Jeremías hablar estas palabras en la casa de Jehová.
And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremias speaking these words in the house of the Lord.
8 Y fue que acabando de hablar Jeremías todo lo que Jehová le había mandado que hablase a todo el pueblo, los sacerdotes, y los profetas, y todo el pueblo le echaron mano, diciendo: Muerte morirás.
And when Jeremias made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests, and the prophets, and all the people laid hold on him, saying: Let him be put to death.
9 ¿Por qué profetizaste en nombre de Jehová, diciendo: Esta casa será como Silo; y esta ciudad será asolada hasta no quedar morador? Y todo el pueblo se juntó contra Jeremías en la casa de Jehová.
Why hath he prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: This house shall be like Silo; and this city shall be made desolate, without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered together against Jeremias in the house of the Lord.
10 Y los príncipes de Judá oyeron estas cosas, y subieron de casa del rey a la casa de Jehová, y asentáronse en la entrada de la puerta nueva de Jehová.
And the princes of Juda heard these words: and they went up from the king’s house into the house of the Lord, and sat in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord.
11 Y hablaron los sacerdotes y los profetas a los príncipes, y a todo el pueblo, diciendo: En pena de muerte ha incurrido este hombre, porque profetizó contra esta ciudad, como vosotros habéis oído con vuestros oídos.
And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes, and to all the people, saying: The judgement of death is for this man: because he hath prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.
12 Y habló Jeremías a todos los príncipes, y a todo el pueblo, diciendo: Jehová me envió que profetizase contra esta casa, y contra esta ciudad, todas las palabras que habéis oído.
Then Jeremias spoke to all the princes, and to all the people, saying: The Lord sent me to prophesy concerning this house, and concerning this city all the words you have heard.
13 Y ahora mejorád vuestros caminos, y vuestras obras, y oíd la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios; y arrepentirse ha Jehová del mal que ha hablado contra vosotros.
Now therefore amend your ways, and your doings, and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God: and the Lord will repent of the evil that he hath spoken against you.
14 En lo que a mí toca, he aquí, estoy en vuestras manos, hacéd de mí como mejor y más recto os pareciere:
But as for me, behold I am in your hands: do with me what is good and right in your eyes:
15 Mas sabéd de cierto, que si me matareis, sangre inocente echaréis sobre vosotros, y sobre esta ciudad, y sobre sus moradores; porque, en verdad, Jehová me envió a vosotros, para que dijese todas estas palabras en vuestros oídos.
But know ye, and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves, and against this city, and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth the Lord sent me to you, to speak all these words in your hearing.
16 Y dijeron los príncipes y todo el pueblo a los sacerdotes y profetas: No ha incurrido este hombre en pena de muerte, porque en nombre de Jehová nuestro Dios ha hablado a nosotros.
Then the princes, and all the people said to the priests, and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death for this man: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.
17 Y levantáronse algunos de los ancianos de la tierra, y hablaron a toda la congregación del pueblo, diciendo:
And some of the ancients of the land rose up: and they spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
18 Miquéas de Morasti profetizó en tiempo de Ezequías, rey de Judá, y habló a todo el pueblo de Judá, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos: Sión será arada como campo, y Jerusalem será montones, y el monte del templo en cumbres de bosque.
Micheas of Morasthi was a prophet in the days of Ezechias king of Juda, and he spoke to all the people of Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Sion shall be ploughed like a field, and Jerusalem shall be a heap of stones: and the mountain of the house the high places of woods.
19 ¿Matáronle luego Ezequías, rey de Judá, y todo Judá? ¿No temió a Jehová, y oró a la faz de Jehová, y Jehová se arrepintió del mal que había hablado contra ellos? ¿Y nosotros haremos tan grande mal contra nuestras almas?
Did Ezechias king of Juda, and all Juda, condemn him to death? did they not fear the Lord, and beseech the face of the Lord: and the Lord repented of the evil that they had spoken against them? therefore we are doing a great evil against our souls.
20 Hubo también un hombre que profetizaba en nombre de Jehová, Urías, hijo de Semeí, de Cariat-jarim, el cual profetizó contra esta ciudad, y contra esta tierra conforme a todas las palabras de Jeremías.
There was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urias the son of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophesied against this city, and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremias.
21 Y oyó el rey Joacim, y todos sus valientes, y todos sus príncipes sus palabras, y el rey procuró de matarle: lo cual entendiendo Urías, tuvo temor, y huyó, y se metió en Egipto.
And Joakim, and all his men in power, and his princes heard these words: and the king sought to put him to death. And Urias heard it, and was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt.
22 Y el rey Joacim envió hombres en Egipto, a Elnatán, hijo de Acor, y otros hombres con él a Egipto,
And king Joakim sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achobor, and men with him into Egypt.
23 Los cuales sacaron a Urías de Egipto, y le trajeron al rey Joacim, e hirióle a cuchillo, y echó su cuerpo en los sepulcros del vulgo.
And they brought Urias out of Egypt: and brought him to king Joakim, and he slew him with the sword: and he cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
24 La mano empero de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, era con Jeremías, porque no le entregasen en las manos del pueblo para matarle.
So the hand of Ahicam the son of Saphan was with Jeremias, that he should not be delivered into the hands of the people, to put him to death.
