Jeremías 19
1 Así dijo Jehová: Vé, y compra un barril de barro del ollero, y lleva contigo alguno de los ancianos del pueblo, y de los ancianos de los sacerdotes:
Thus said Yahweh, Go and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, —and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
2 Y saldrás al valle de Ben-hinnón que está a la entrada de la puerta oriental, y pregonarás allí las palabras que yo te hablaré.
Then shalt thou go forth into the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the opening of the gate of potsherds; and proclaim there the words which I shall speak unto thee;
3 Dirás pues: Oíd palabra de Jehová, o! reyes de Judá, y moradores de Jerusalem: Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, tal que quien lo oyere, le retiñan los oídos:
and shalt say, —Hear ye the word of Yahweh, O kings of Judah And inhabitants of Jerusalem, —Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—God of Israel Behold me! bringing in calamity upon this place, which shall cause the ears of every one that heareth it, to tingle:
4 Porque me dejaron, y enajenaron este lugar, y ofrecieron perfumes en él a dioses ajenos, los cuales ellos no habían conocido, ni sus padres, ni los reyes de Judá; e hinchieron este lugar de sangre de inocentes.
Because they have forsaken me, And have treated this as a foreign place, And have burned incense therein to other gods, which neither they, nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah, have known; And have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
5 Y edificaron altos a Baal, para quemar con fuego sus hijos en holocaustos, al mismo Baal: cosa que no les mandé, ni hablé, ni me vino al pensamiento.
And have built the high places of Baal for burning up their sons in the fire as ascending-sacrifices to Baal, —Which I commanded not, Nor spake, Neither came it up on my heart,
6 Por tanto he aquí que vienen días, dijo Jehová, que este lugar no se llamará más Tofet, y valle de Ben-hinnón, mas valle de la matanza.
Therefore, lo! days coming, Declareth Yahweh, When this place shall be called no longer The Topheth, or The Valley of Ben-hinnom, —but—The Valley of Slaughter;
7 Y desvaneceré el consejo de Judá y de Jerusalem en este lugar, y hacerles he que caigan a cuchillo delante de sus enemigos, y en las manos de los que buscan sus almas; y daré sus cuerpos para comida de las aves del cielo, y de las bestias de la tierra.
And I will pour out the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, And I will cause them to fall by the sword, before their enemies, and by the hand of them who seek their life, —
8 Y pondré a esta ciudad por espanto y silbo: todo aquel que pasare por ella se maravillará, y silbará sobre todas sus plagas.
And I will give their dead bodies for food, to the bird of the heavens and to the beast of the earth; And I will make this city a desolation and a hissing, —every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and hiss over all her wounds;
9 Y hacerles he comer la carne de sus hijos, y la carne de sus hijas; y cada uno comerá la carne de su amigo en el cerco y en la angostura con que los estrecharán sus enemigos, y los que buscan sus almas.
And I will suffer them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, yea every one—the flesh of his friend, will they eat, —in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith, their enemies, and they who seek their lives, will straiten them.
10 Y quebrarás el barril delante de los ojos de los varones que van contigo;
Then shalt thou break the bottle, before the eyes of the men who are walking with thee;
11 Y decirles has: Así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos: Así quebrantaré a este pueblo, y a esta ciudad, como quien quiebra un vaso de barro, que no se puede más restaurar; y en Tofet se enterrarán, porque no habrá otro lugar para enterrar.
and shalt say unto them—Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—Thus and thus, will I break this people, and this city, As one breaketh the vessel of a potter, which cannot be made whole any more, —And in Topheth, shall they bury, for want of place to bury.
12 Así haré a este lugar, dice Jehová, y a sus moradores, poniendo esta ciudad como Tofet.
Thus, will I do to this place Declareth Yahweh, And to the inhabitants thereof, —Even making this city like Topheth:
13 Y las casas de Jerusalem, y las casas de los reyes de Judá serán como el lugar de Tofet, inmundas, por todas las casas sobre cuyos tejados ofrecieron perfumes a todo el ejército del cielo, y vertieron derramaduras a dioses ajenos.
Yea, the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall like the place of Topheth, be places defiled, —even all the houses upon whose roofs they burned incense to all the host of the heavens, and poured out drink-offerings to other gods.
14 Y volvió Jeremías de Tofet, donde le envió Jehová a profetizar; y paróse en el patio de la casa de Jehová, y dijo a todo el pueblo:
Then entered Jeremiah out of Topheth, whither Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, —and stood in the court of the house of Yahweh, and said unto all the people:
15 Así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo sobre esta ciudad, y sobre todas sus ciudades todo el mal que hablé contra ella; porque endurecieron su cerviz, para no oír mis palabras.
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, Behold me! brining in against this city, and upon all the cities thereof, The whole calamity which I have pronounced against her, —Because they stiffened their neck, that they might not hear my words.
