Isaías 5
1 Ahora pues cantaré por mi amado el cantar de mi amado a su viña. Mi amado tenía una viña en un recuesto lugar fértil.
Let me sing, I pray you, for a well-beloved of mine, The song of my beloved concerning his vineyard: —A vineyard, had my well-beloved on a very fruitful hill;
2 Habíala cercado, y despedregádola, y plantádola de plantas escogidas: había edificado en medio de ella una torre, y también asentado en ella un lagar; y esperaba que llevase uvas, y llevó uvas montesinas.
And he thoroughly digged it, And gathered out the stones thereof, And planted it with a precious vine, And built a tower in the midst thereof, Moreover also a wine-press, hewed he therein, —Then waited he that it should bring forth grapes. And it brought forth wild grapes:
3 Ahora pues, vecinos de Jerusalem, y varones de Judá, juzgád ahora entre mí y mi viña.
Now, therefore, O inhabitant of Jerusalem, And men of Judah, —Judge, I pray you, betwixt me, and my vineyard: —
4 ¿Qué más se había de hacer a mi viña, que yo no hice en ella? ¿Cómo esperando yo que llevase uvas, llevó uvas montesinas?
What could have been done further to my vineyard, That I had not done in it? Why then—When I had waited that it should bring forth grapes, Brought it forth, wild grapes?
5 Ahora, pues, mostraros he lo que yo haré a mi viña: quitarle he su vallado, y será para ser pacida: aportillaré su cerca, y será para ser hollada.
Now, therefore, I pray you, let me tell, you, what I am about to do to my vineyard, —To take away the fence thereof And it shall be eaten up, To destroy the wall thereof And it shall be trodden down;
6 Haré que quede desierta: no será podada, ni cavada; y crecerá el cardo, y las espinas; y aun a las nubes mandaré que no lluevan sobre ella lluvia.
And I will make it a waste; —It shall be neither pruned nor hoed, But there shall come up briars and thorns, —And upon the clouds, will I lay a charge, That they rain thereon no rain.
7 Ciertamente la viña de Jehová de los ejércitos la casa de Israel es, y todo hombre de Judá planta suya deleitosa. Esperaba de ahí juicio, y he aquí, opresión: justicia, y he aquí, clamor.
Surely the vineyard of Yahweh of hosts, is the house of Israel, And, the men of Judah, are the plantation in which he dearly delighted, —And he waited, For equity but lo! murderous iniquity, For the rule of right but lo the cry of the wronged.
8 ¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa, y allegan heredad a heredad, hasta acabar el término! ¿Habitaréis vosotros solos en medio de la tierra?
Alas for them who join house to house, Field to field, bring they near, —Until there is no room, But ye are left to dwell alone in the midst of the land.
9 Esto, a los oídos de Jehová de los ejércitos. Si las muchas casas no fueren asoladas, las grandes y hermosas sin morador.
In mine ears, [said] Yahweh of hosts, —Verily, houses in abundance, shall become, a desolation, Large and fair, without inhabitant;
10 Y aun, si diez huebras de viña no dieren una arroba, y una hanega de simiente la décima parte.
For, ten yokes of vineyard, shall yield one bath, —And the seed of a homer, shall yield an ephah,
11 ¡Ay de los que se levantan de mañana para seguir la embriaguez, que se están hasta la noche, hasta que el vino los enciende!
Alas, for them who rise early in the morning that strong drink, they may pursue, —Who follow on in the evening cool [until] with wine, they are heated;
12 Y en sus banquetes hay arpas, vihuelas, tamboriles, flautas, y vino; y no miran la obra de Jehová, ni ven la obra de sus manos.
And it cometh to pass—that lyre and harp, timbrel and flute and wine are in their banquets, —But, the doing of Yahweh, they do not discern, And the work of his hands, have they not seen.
13 Por tanto mi pueblo fue llevado cautivo, porque no tuvo ciencia; y su gloria pereció de hambre, y su multitud se secó de sed.
Therefore, are my people taken away captive before they know it, —And their honourable men are famished with hunger, And, their multitude, do gape for thirst.
14 Por tanto el infierno ensanchó su alma, y sin medida extendió su boca; y su gloria, y su multitud descendió allá; y su fausto, y el que se holgó en él. (Sheol h7585)
Therefore, hath hades enlarged her desire, And opened her mouth to its widest, —And their glory, and their multitude and their pomp. and he that is uproarious shall descend thereinto. (Sheol h7585)
15 Y todo hombre será humillado, y todo varón será abatido, y los ojos de los altivos serán abajados.
And the mean man hath been bowed down And the mighty man hath been humbled, —Yea the looks of the haughty shall be humbled.
16 Mas Jehová de los ejércitos será ensalzado con juicio, y el Dios santo será santificado con justicia.
But Yahweh of hosts, hath been exalted, in justice, —And the GOD that is holy hath been hallowed in righteousness;
17 Y los corderos serán apacentados según su costumbre, y extraños comerán las gruesas desamparadas.
Then shall the young rams feed where they please, —And, the wastes of the wealthy, shall strangers consume.
18 ¡Ay de los que traen tirando la iniquidad con sogas de vanidad, y el pecado como con látigos de carreta:
Alas! for them Who draw on themselves punishment with cords of falsehood, —And as with waggon-bands, penalty:
19 De los que dicen: Venga ya: dése priesa su obra, y veamos: acérquese, y venga el consejo del santo de Israel, para que sepamos!
Who say—Let his work quicken—let it hasten, That we may see, —And let the purpose of Israel’s Holy One, draw near and come. That we may know!
20 ¡Ay de los que a lo malo dicen bueno, y a lo bueno malo: que hacen de la luz tinieblas, y de las tinieblas luz: que tornan de lo amargo dulce, y de lo dulce amargo!
Alas! for them Who call evil good and good evil, —Who put darkness for light and light for darkness, Who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
21 ¡Ay de los sabios en sus ojos, y de los que son prudentes delante de si mismos!
Alas for them Who are wise in their own eyes, —And in their own sight, are prudent.
22 ¡Ay de los que son valientes para beber vino, y varones fuertes para mezclar bebida:
Alas for them Who are heroes to drink wine, —And men of valour to mingle strong drink,
23 Los que dan por justo al impío por cohechos, y al justo quitan su justicia!
Who justify the lawless, for a bribe, —Whereas the righteousness of the righteous, they take from him.
24 Por tanto, como la lengua del fuego consume las aristas, y la paja es deshecha de la llama, así será su raíz como podrición, y su flor se desvanecerá como polvo; porque desecharon la ley de Jehová de los ejércitos, y abominaron la palabra del santo de Israel.
Therefore, As a tongue of fire, eateth up straw, And a flame reduceth, dry grass, to powder, Their root, like rottenness, shall become, And their blossom, like dust shall ascend, —Because they refused the law of Yahweh of hosts, And the utterance of the Holy One of Israel, they despised.
25 Por esta causa se encendió el furor de Jehová contra su pueblo; y extendiendo sobre él su mano le hirió, y los montes se estremecieron, y el cuerpo de ellos cortado en piezas fue echado en medio de las calles; y con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, antes todavía su mano está extendida.
For this cause, did the anger of Yahweh kindle upon his own people, And he stretched out his hand against them and smote them—So that the mountains, trembled, And, their dead bodies, served, for fuel in the midst of the streets. For all this, hath his anger, not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched,
26 Y alzará pendón a naciones de lejos, y silbará al que está en el cabo de la tierra, y, he aquí que vendrá ligero y liviano.
Therefore will he lift up an ensign to the nations afar off, And signal for him from the end of the earth, —And lo! with hot haste, will he come:
27 No habrá entre ellos cansado, ni que tropiece: ninguno se dormirá, ni le tomará sueño: a ninguno se le desatará el cinto de los lomos, ni se le romperá la correa de sus zapatos.
None shall be weary, and none shall stumble in his midst, He shall neither slumber nor sleep, —Nor shall be loosened, the girdle of his loins, Nor snapped, the thong of his sandals:
28 Sus saetas aguzadas, y todos sus arcos entesados: las uñas de sus caballos parecerán como de pedernal, y las ruedas de sus carros como torbellino.
Whose arrows, are sharpened, and all his bows, bent, —The hoofs of his horses, like flint, are accounted, And, his wheels, [are] like a storm-wind:
29 Su bramido como de león, bramará como leoncillos: batirá los dientes, y arrebatará la presa: apañará los despojos, y nadie se los quitará.
A roar, hath he, like a lioness, —He will roar like wild lions—And will growl, and lay hold on prey, and carry into safety, and there be none to deliver.
30 Y bramará sobre él en aquel día como bramido de la mar: entonces mirará hacia la tierra, y he aquí tinieblas de tribulación, y en sus cielos se oscurecerá la luz.
Yea he will growl at him in that day, like the growling of the sea, —Though he look hard for the land, lo! the darkness of distress, Yea the light, hath grown dark in its clouds!
