Isaías 29

1 ¡Ay de Ariel, ciudad donde habitó David! Añadíd un año a otro: los corderos cesarán.

Ah, Ariel, Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add ye year to year, let the feasts come round!

2 Porque pondré a Ariel en apretura, y será desconsolada y triste; y será a mí como Ariel.

Then will I distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and moaning; and she shall be unto Me as a hearth of God.

3 Porque asentaré campo contra ti en derredor, y combatirte he con ingenios; y levantaré contra ti baluartes.

And I will encamp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mound, and I will raise siege works against thee.

4 Entonces serás humillada: hablarás desde la tierra, y tu habla saldrá del polvo; y será tu voz de la tierra, como voz de pitón, y tu habla murmurará del polvo.

And brought down thou shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust; and thy voice shall be as of a ghost out of the ground, and thy speech shall chirp out of the dust.

5 Más el estrépito de tus extranjeros será como polvo menudo, y la multitud de los fuertes como tamo que pasa; y será repentinamente, en un momento.

But the multitude of thy foes shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones as chaff that passeth away; yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly —

6 De Jehová de los ejércitos serás visitada con truenos, y con terremotos, y con gran ruido, con torbellino, y tempestad, y llama de fuego consumidor.

There shall be a visitation from the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.

7 Y será como sueño de visión de noche la multitud de todas las naciones, que pelearán contra Ariel, y todos los que pelearán contra ella, y sus ingenios, y los que la pondrán en apretura.

And the multitude of all the nations that war against Ariel, even all that war against her, and the bulwarks about her, and they that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night.

8 Será pues como el que sueña que tiene hambre, y parece que come: mas cuando se despierta, su alma está vacía; y como el que sueña que tiene sed, y parece que bebe: mas cuando se despierta, hállase cansado, y su alma todavía sedienta: así será la multitud de todas las naciones que pelearán contra el monte de Sión.

And it shall be as when a hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth, but he awaketh, and his soul is empty; or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh, but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite — so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

9 Entontecéos, y entontecéd: cegáos, y cegád: emborracháos, y no de vino: titubeád, y no de sidra.

Stupefy yourselves, and be stupid! Blind yourselves, and be blind! ye that are drunken, but not with wine, that stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 Porque Jehová extendió sobre vosotros espíritu de sueño, y cerró vuestros ojos; cubrió de sueño vuestros profetas, y vuestros principales videntes.

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets, and your heads, the seers, hath He covered.

11 Y es a vosotros toda visión, como palabras de libro sellado, el cual si dieren al que sabe leer, y le dijeren: Leed ahora esto; dirá: No puedo, porque está sellado.

And the vision of all this is become unto you as the words of a writing that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I cannot, for it is sealed';

12 Y si se diere el libro al que no sabe leer, y se le diga: Leed ahora esto; él dirá: No sé leer.

and the writing is delivered to him that is not learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I am not learned.'

13 Dice pues el Señor: Porque este pueblo de su boca se acercó, y de sus labios me honra, mas su corazón alejó de mí, y su temor para conmigo fue enseñado por mandamiento de hombres:

And the Lord said: Forasmuch as this people draw near, and with their mouth and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear of Me is a commandment of men learned by rote;

14 Por tanto he aquí que yo volveré a hacer admirable este pueblo con milagro espantoso; porque la sabiduría de sus sabios se perderá, y la prudencia de sus prudentes se desvanecerá.

Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the prudence of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 ¡Ay de los que se esconden de Jehová, encubriendo el consejo! y son sus obras en tinieblas, y dicen: ¿Quién nos ve, o quién nos conoce?

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say: 'Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?'

16 Vuestra subversión ciertamente será como el barro del ollero. ¿La obra dirá de su hacedor: No me hizo; y el vaso dirá del que le obró: No entendió?

O your perversity! Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it: 'He made me not'; or the thing framed say of him that framed it: 'He hath no understanding?'

17 ¿No será tornado de aquí aun poquito, poquito el Líbano en Carmelo, y el Carmelo no será estimado por bosque?

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 Y en aquel tiempo los sordos oirán las palabras del libro; y los ojos de los ciegos verán de la oscuridad, y de las tinieblas.

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of a book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

19 Entonces los humildes crecerán en alegría en Jehová; y los pobres de los hombres se gozarán en el Santo de Israel.

The humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the neediest among men shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

20 Porque el violento será acabado, y el escarnecedor será consumido; y serán talados todos los que madrugaban a la iniquidad;

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner ceaseth, and all they that watch for iniquity are cut off;

21 Los que hacían pecar al hombre en palabra; los que armaban lazo al que reprendía en la puerta, y torcieron lo justo en vanidad.

That make a man an offender by words, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought.

22 Por tanto así dice Jehová a la casa de Jacob, el que redimió a Abraham: No será por ahora confuso Jacob ni sus faces se pararán amarillas:

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale;

23 Porque verá sus hijos, obra de mis manos en medio de sí, que santificarán mi nombre; y santificarán al Santo de Jacob, y temerán al Dios de Israel:

When he seeth his children, the work of My hands, in the midst of him, that they sanctify My name; yea, they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall stand in awe of the God of Israel.

24 Y los errados de espíritu aprenderán inteligencia, y los murmuradores aprenderán doctrina.

They also that err in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmur shall learn instruction.
