Génesis 2
1 Y fueron acabados los cielos y la tierra, y todo el ejército de ellos.
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 Y acabó Dios en el día séptimo su obra que hizo, y reposó el día séptimo de toda su obra que había hecho.
And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.
3 Y bendijo Dios al día séptimo, y santificóle: porque en él reposó de toda su obra que había creado Dios para hacer.
Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished.
4 Estos son los orígenes de los cielos y de la tierra cuando fueron creados, en el día en que hizo Jehová Dios la tierra y los cielos,
This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made them.
5 Y toda planta del campo antes que fuese en la tierra; y toda yerba del campo antes que naciese: porque aún no había hecho llover Jehová Dios sobre la tierra; ni aún había hombre, para que labrase la tierra.
Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.
6 Y un vapor subía de la tierra, que regaba toda la haz de la tierra.
But springs welled up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.
7 Formó pues Jehová Dios al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y sopló en su nariz soplo de vida: y fue el hombre en ánima viviente.
Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
8 Y había plantado Jehová Dios un huerto en Edén al oriente, y puso allí al hombre que formó.
And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, where He placed the man He had formed.
9 Había también hecho producir Jehová Dios de la tierra todo árbol deseable a la vista, y bueno para comer; y el árbol de vida en medio del huerto, y el árbol de ciencia de bien y de mal.
Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 Y salía un río de Edén para regar el huerto, y desde allí se repartía en cuatro cabezas.
Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it branched into four headwaters:
11 El nombre del uno era Fisón: este es el que cerca toda la tierra de Hevila, donde hay oro:
The name of the first river is Pishon; it winds through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
12 Y el oro de aquella tierra es bueno: hay allí también bedelio, y piedra cornerina.
And the gold of that land is pure, and bdellium and onyx are found there.
13 El nombre del segundo río es Gijón: este es el que cerca toda la tierra de Etiopía.
The name of the second river is Gihon; it winds through the whole land of Cush.
14 Y el nombre del tercer río es Jidekel: este es el que va hacia el oriente de la Asiria. Y el cuarto río es Éufrates.
The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it runs along the east side of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 Tomó pues Jehová Dios al hombre, y púsole en el huerto de Edén, para que le labrase, y le guardase.
Then the LORD God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16 Y mandó Jehová Dios al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del huerto comerás:
And the LORD God commanded him, “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden,
17 Mas del árbol de ciencia de bien y de mal, no comerás de él: porque el día que de él comieres, morirás.
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
18 Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo: hacerle he ayuda que esté delante de él.
The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.”
19 Formó pues Jehová Dios de la tierra toda bestia del campo, y toda ave de los cielos, y trájolas a Adam, para que viese como las había de llamar: y todo lo que Adam llamó a alma viviente, eso es su nombre.
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20 Y puso Adam nombres a toda bestia, y a ave de los cielos, y a todo animal del campo: mas para Adam no halló ayuda, que estuviese delante de él.
The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
21 E hizo caer Jehová Dios sueño sobre el hombre, y adormecióse; y tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en su lugar.
So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh.
22 Y edificó Jehová Dios la costilla que tomó del hombre, en mujer, y trájola al hombre.
And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him.
23 Y dijo el hombre: Esta vez, hueso de mis huesos, y carne de mi carne. Esta será llamada Varona, porque del Varón fue tomada esta.
And the man said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man she was taken.”
24 Por tanto el varón dejará a su padre y a su madre, y allegarse ha a su mujer, y serán por una carne.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
25 Y estaban ambos desnudos, Adam y su mujer, y no se avergonzaban.
And the man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
