Génesis 19
1 Vinieron, pues, los dos ángeles a Sodoma a la tarde: y Lot estaba sentado a la puerta de Sodoma: y viéndolos Lot, levantóse a recibirlos, e inclinóse la faz a tierra.
And the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of the city. And seeing them, he rose up and went to meet them: and worshipped prostrate to the ground,
2 Y dijo: He aquí ahora, mis señores, ruégoos que vengáis a casa de vuestro siervo, y dormiréis, y lavaréis vuestros pies: y por la mañana os levantaréis, e iréis vuestro camino. Y ellos respondieron: No, que en la plaza dormiremos.
And said: I beseech you, my lords, turn in to the house of your servant, and lodge there: wash your feet, and in the morning you shall go on your way. And they said: No, but we will abide in the street.
3 Mas él porfió con ellos mucho, y viniéronse con él, y entraron en su casa, e hízoles banquete, y coció panes sin levadura, y comieron.
He pressed them very much to turn in unto him: and when they were come into his house, he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread and they ate:
4 Y antes que se acostasen, los varones de la ciudad, los varones de Sodoma, cercaron la casa desde el mozo hasta el viejo, todo el pueblo de cabo a cabo.
But before they went to bed, the men of the city beset the house both young and old, all the people together.
5 Y llamaron a Lot, y dijéronle: ¿Dónde están los varones que vinieron a ti esta noche? Sácanoslos, para que los conozcamos.
And they called Lot, and said to him: Where are the men that came in to thee at night? bring them out hither that we may know them:
6 Entonces Lot salió a ellos a la puerta, y cerró las puertas tras sí;
Lot went out to them, and shut the door after him, and said:
7 Y dijo: Hermanos míos, ruégoos que no hagáis mal.
Do not so, I beseech you, my brethren, do not commit this evil.
8 He aquí ahora, yo tengo dos hijas, que no han conocido varón; sacarlas he ahora a vosotros, y hacéd de ellas como bien os parecerá: solamente a estos varones no hagáis nada, porque por eso vinieron a la sombra de mi tejado.
I have two daughters who as yet have not known man: I will bring them out to you, and abuse you them as it shall please you, so that you do no evil to these men, because they are come in under the shadow of my roof.
9 Y ellos respondieron: Quita allá. Y dijeron aun: Vino solo para habitar: ¿y juzgará juzgando? Ahora te haremos más mal que a ellos. Y hacían gran violencia al varón, a Lot: y llegáronse para quebrar las puertas.
But they said: Get thee back thither. And again: Thou camest in, said they, as a, stranger, was it to be a judge? therefore we will afflict thee more than them. And they pressed very violently upon Lot: and they were even at the point of breaking open the doors.
10 Entonces los varones extendieron su mano, y metieron a Lot consigo en casa, y cerraron las puertas.
And behold the men put out their hand, and drew in Lot unto them, and shut the door:
11 Y a los varones, que estaban a la puerta de la casa, hirieron con ceguedades, desde el pequeño hasta el grande; mas ellos se fatigaban por hallar la puerta.
And them that were without, they struck with blindness from the least to the greatest, so that they could not find the door.
12 Y dijeron los varones a Lot: ¿Tienes aun aquí alguno? Yernos, y tus hijos, y tus hijas, y todo lo que tienes en la ciudad, saca de este lugar.
And they said to Lot: Hast thou here any of thine? son in law, or sons, or daughters, all that are thine bring them out of this city:
13 Porque destruimos este lugar, porque el clamor de ellos se ha engrandecido delante de Jehová; por tanto Jehová nos ha enviado para destruirlo.
For we will destroy this place, because their cry is grown loud before the Lord, who hath sent us to destroy them.
14 Entonces salió Lot, y habló a sus yernos, los que habían de tomar sus hijas, y díjoles: Levantáos, salíd de este lugar; porque ha de destruir Jehová esta ciudad: mas fue tenido como burlador en los ojos de sus yernos.
So Lot went out, and spoke to his sons in law that were to have his daughters, and said: Arise: get you out of this place, because the Lord will destroy this city. And he seemed to them to speak as it were in jest.
15 Y como el alba subía, los ángeles dieron priesa a Lot, diciendo: Levántate, toma a tu mujer, y tus dos hijas, que se hallan aquí, porque no perezcas en el castigo de la ciudad.
And when it was morning, the angels pressed him, saying: Arise, take thy wife, and the two daughters which thou hast: lest thou also perish in the wickedness of the city.
16 Y deteniéndose él, los varones asieron de su mano, y de la mano de su mujer, y de las manos de sus dos hijas, en la misericordia de Jehová que era sobre él: y sacáronle, y pusiéronle fuera de la ciudad.
And as he lingered, they took his hand, and the hand of his wife, and of his two daughters, because the Lord spared him.
17 Y fue, que sacándoles fuera, dijo: Escápate: sobre tu alma no mires tras ti, ni pares en toda esta llanura, en el monte escápate, porque no perezcas.
And they brought him forth, and set him without the city: and there they spoke to him, saying: Save thy life: look not back, neither stay thou in all the country about: but save thyself in the mountain, lest thou be also consumed.
18 Y Lot les dijo: No, yo os ruego, señores míos:
And Lot said to them: I beseech thee my Lord,
19 He aquí ahora, ha hallado tu siervo gracia en tus ojos, y has engrandecido tu misericordia, que has hecho conmigo, dándome la vida: mas yo no podré escaparme en el monte, que quizá no se me pegue el mal, y muera.
Because thy servant hath found grace before thee, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewn to me, in saving my life, and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil seize me, and I die:
20 He aquí ahora, esta ciudad está cercana para huir allá, la cual es pequeña, escaparme he ahora allí; ¿no es pequeña, y vivirá mi alma?
There is this city here at hand, to which I may flee, it is a little one, and I shall be saved in it: is it not a little one, and my soul shall live?
21 Y respondióle: He aquí, yo he recibido tus ruegos también por esto, para no destruir la ciudad de que has hablado.
And he said to him: Behold also in this, I have heard thy prayers, not to destroy the city for which thou hast spoken.
22 Dáte priesa, escápate allá; porque no podré hacer nada, hasta que hayas llegado allá. Por esto fue llamado el nombre de la ciudad Segor.
Make haste and be saved there, because I cannot do any thing till thou go in thither. Therefore the name of that city was called Segor.
23 El sol salía sobre la tierra, cuando Lot llegó a Segor.
The sun was risen upon the earth, and Lot entered into Segor.
24 Y Jehová llovió sobre Sodoma y sobre Gomorra azufre y fuego de Jehová desde los cielos:
And the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrha brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.
25 Y trastornó las ciudades, y toda aquella llanura con todos los moradores de aquellas ciudades, y el fruto de la tierra.
And he destroyed these cities, and all the country about, all the inhabitants of the cities, and all things that spring from the earth.
26 Entonces su mujer miró atrás de él, y fue vuelta estatua de sal.
And his wife looking behind her, was turned into a statue of salt.
27 Y levantóse Abraham por la mañana al lugar donde había estado delante de Jehová;
And Abraham got up early in the morning and in the place where he had stood before with the Lord,
28 Y miró hacia Sodoma y Gomorra, y hacia toda la tierra de aquella llanura miró; y he aquí que el humo subía de la tierra, como el humo de un horno.
He looked towards Sodom and Gomorrha, and the whole land of that country: and he saw the ashes rise up from the earth as the smoke of a furnace.
29 Y fue, que destruyendo Dios las ciudades de la llanura, Dios se acordó de Abraham, y envió a Lot de en medio de la destrucción, destruyendo las ciudades donde Lot estaba.
Now when God destroyed the cities of that country, remembering Abraham, he delivered Lot out of the destruction of the cities wherein he had dwelt.
30 Empero Lot subió de Segor, y asentó en el monte, y sus dos hijas con él; porque tuvo miedo de quedar en Segor, y asentó en una cueva él y sus dos hijas.
And Lot went up out of Segor, and abode in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, (for he was afraid to stay in Segor, ) and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters with him.
31 Entonces la mayor dijo a la menor: Nuestro padre es viejo, y no queda varón en la tierra que entre a nosotras conforme a la costumbre de toda la tierra:
And the elder said to the younger Our father is old, and there is no man left on the earth, to come in unto us after the manner of the whole earth.
32 Ven, demos a beber vino a nuestro padre, y durmamos con él, y conservaremos de nuestro padre generación.
Come, let us make him drunk with wine, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 Y dieron a beber vino a su padre aquella noche: y entró la mayor, y durmió con su padre; y él no supo cuando la hija se acostó, ni cuando se levantó.
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the elder went in and lay with her father: but he perceived not neither when his daughter lay down, nor when she rose up.
34 El día siguiente dijo la mayor a la menor: He aquí, yo dormí la noche pasada con mi padre; démosle a beber vino también esta noche, y entra, duerme con él, y conservaremos de nuestro padre generación.
And the next day the elder said to the younger: Behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine also to night, and thou shalt lie with him, that we may save seed of our father.
35 Y dieron a beber vino a su padre también aquella noche, y levantóse la menor, y durmió con él; y él no supo cuando la hija se acostó, ni cuando se levantó.
They made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in, and lay with him: and neither then did he perceive when she lay down, nor when she rose up.
36 Y concibieron las dos hijas de Lot, de su padre.
So the two daughters of Lot were with child by their father.
37 Y parió la mayor un hijo, y llamó su nombre Moab: el cual es padre de los Moabitas hasta hoy.
And the elder bore a son, and she called his name Moab: he is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 La menor también parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Ben-ammi, el cual es padre de los Ammonitas hasta hoy.
The younger also bore a son, and she called his name Ammon, that is, the son of my people: he is the father of the Ammonites unto this day.
