Génesis 15
1 Después de estas cosas fue palabra de Jehová a Abram en visión, diciendo: No temas Abram: Yo soy tu escudo, tu salario copioso en gran manera.
After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
2 Y respondió Abram: Señor Jehová; ¿qué me has de dar, que yo ando solo, y el mayordomo de mi casa, el Damasceno, Eliezer?
But Abram replied, “O Lord GOD, what can You give me, since I remain childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 Dijo más Abram: He aquí, no me has dado simiente, y he aquí que el hijo de mi casa me hereda.
Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 Y luego la palabra de Jehová fue a él, diciendo: No te heredará este; mas el que saldrá de tus entrañas, aquel te heredará.
Then the word of the LORD came to Abram, saying, “This one will not be your heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your heir.”
5 Y sacóle fuera, y dijo: Mira ahora a los cielos, y cuenta las estrellas, si las puedes contar: y díjole: Así será tu simiente.
And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Y creyó a Jehová, y contóselo por justicia.
Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
7 Y díjole: Yo soy Jehová, que te saqué de Ur de los Caldeos, para darte esta tierra que la heredes.
The LORD also told him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
8 Y él respondió: Señor Jehová, ¿en qué conoceré que la tengo de heredar?
But Abram replied, “Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”
9 Y respondióle: Tómame una becerra de tres años, y una cabra de tres años, y un carnero de tres años; una tórtola también, y un palomino.
And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a turtledove and a young pigeon.”
10 Y él tomó todas estas cosas, y partiólas por la mitad, y puso cada mitad en frente de su compañera: mas las aves no partió.
So Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.
11 Y descendían aves sobre los cuerpos muertos, y ojeábalas Abram.
And the birds of prey descended on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
12 Y fue, que poniéndose el sol, cayó sueño sobre Abram, y he aquí, un temor, una oscuridad grande que cayó sobre él.
As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and suddenly great terror and darkness overwhelmed him.
13 Entonces dijo a Abram: De cierto sepas, que tu simiente será peregrina en tierra no suya, y servirles han, y serán afligidos cuatrocientos años;
Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
14 Mas también a la gente a quien servirán, juzgo yo; y después de esto saldrán con grande riqueza.
But I will judge the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will depart with many possessions.
15 Y tú vendrás a tus padres en paz, y serás sepultado en buena vejez.
You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.
16 Y en la cuarta generación volverán acá; porque aún no está cumplida la maldad del Amorreo hasta aquí.
In the fourth generation your descendants will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
17 Y fue que puesto el sol, hubo una oscuridad: y he aquí un horno de humo, y una antorcha de fuego que pasó entre las mitades.
When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the halves of the carcasses.
18 Aquel día hizo Jehová concierto con Abram, diciendo: A tu simiente daré esta tierra desde el río de Egipto hasta el río grande, el río de Éufrates:
On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land—from the river of Egypt to the great River Euphrates—
19 Al Cineo, y al Cenezeo, y al Cadmoneo,
the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
20 Y al Jetteo, y al Ferezeo, y a los Rafeos,
Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,
21 Al Amorreo, también, y al Cananeo y al Gergeseo, y al Jebuseo.
Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”
