Génesis 10
1 Estas son las generaciones de los hijos de Noé: Sem, Cam, y Jafet, a los cuales nacieron hijos después del diluvio.
(This is/I will now give) a list of the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They had many children after the flood.
2 Los hijos de Jafet fueron Gomer, y Magog, y Madai, y Javán, y Tubal, y Mosoc, y Tiras.
The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 Y los hijos de Gomer: Ascenez, y Rifat, y Togorma.
The sons of Gomer were Askenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Y los hijos de Javán: Elisa, y Társis, Cetim, y Dodanim.
The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 Por estos fueron partidas las islas de las Gentes en sus tierras, cada cual según su lengua, conforme a sus familias en sus naciones.
Those sons and their families who were descended from Javan lived on the islands and on the land close to the [Mediterranean] Sea. Their descendants became tribes, each with its own language and clans and territory.
6 Los hijos de Cam fueron Cus, y Mizraim, y Fut, y Canaán.
The descendants of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7 Y los hijos de Cus, Saba, Hevila, y Sabata, y Rahama, y Sabataca. Y los hijos de Rahama, Saba, y Dadán.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Y Cus engendró a Nimrod. Este comenzó a ser poderoso en la tierra.
Another one of Cush’s descendants was Nimrod. Nimrod was the first person on earth who became a mighty warrior.
9 Este fue poderoso cazador delante de Jehová: por lo cual se dice: Como Nimrod poderoso cazador delante de Jehová.
Yahweh saw that he had become (OR, caused him to become) a great hunter. That is why people say to a great hunter, “Yahweh (sees that you are/has caused you to be) a great hunter like Nimrod.”
10 Y fue la cabecera de su reino Babel, y Arac, y Acad, y Calanne, en la tierra de Sennaar.
Nimrod became a king who ruled in Babylonia. The first cities over which he ruled were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh.
11 De aquesta tierra salió Assur, el cual edificó a Nínive, y a Recobot-ir, y a Cale,
From there he went [with others] to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 Y a Resen entre Nínive y Cale, la cual es la ciudad grande.
and Resen. Resen was a large city between Nineveh and Calah.
13 Y Mizraim engendró a Ludim, y Anamim, y Laabim, y Neptuim,
Ham’s son, Egypt, became the ancestor of the Lud, Anam, Lehab and Naphtuh,
14 Y a Fetrusim, y Casluim, de donde salieron los Filisteos, y a Caftorim.
Pathrus, Casluh and Caphtor people-groups. The Philistine people were descended from Casluh.
15 Y Canaán engendró a Sidón su primogénito, y a Jet,
Ham’s youngest son, Canaan, became the father of Sidon, who was his eldest son, and Heth, his younger son.
16 Y a Jebusi, y Amori, y Gergasi,
Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebus, Amor, Girgash,
17 Y a Hevi, y a Arci, y a Cini,
Hiv, Ark, Sin,
18 Y a Aradi, Samari, y Hemati: y después se derramaron las familias de los Cananeos.
Arved, Zemar and Hamath people-groups. Later the descendants of Canaan dispersed over a large area.
19 Y fue el término de los Cananeos, desde Sidón viniendo a Gerar hasta Gaza, hasta entrar en Sodoma y Gomorra, Adma, y Seboim hasta Lasa.
Their land extended from Sidon [city] in the north as far south as Gaza [town], and then to the east as far as Gerar [town], and then farther east to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim [towns], and even as far as Lasha [town].
20 Estos son los hijos de Cam por sus familias, por sus lenguas, en sus tierras, en sus naciones.
Those are the descendants of Ham. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
21 Y a Sem también le nacieron hijos; él fue padre de todos los hijos de Jeber, hermano de Jafet el mayor.
Shem, the older brother of Japheth, became the father of Eber, and the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
22 Y los hijos de Sem fueron Elam, y Assur, y Arfajad, y Lud, y Aram.
The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 Y los hijos de Aram: Hus, y Hul, y Geter, y Mes.
The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arfajad engendró a Sale, y Sale engendró a Jeber.
Arphaxad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.
25 Y a Jeber nacieron dos hijos: el nombre del uno fue Faleg, porque en sus días fue partida la tierra: y el nombre de su hermano, Jectán.
Eber became the father of two sons. One of them was named Peleg, [which means ‘division’], because during the time he lived, people on [MTY] the earth became divided and scattered everywhere. Peleg’s younger brother was Joktan.
26 Y Jectán engendró a Elmodad, y a Salef, y a Asarmot, y a Jaré,
Joktan became the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 Y a Adoram, y a Uzal, y a Decla,
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 Y a Hebal, y a Abimael, y a Saba,
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 Y a Ofir, y a Hevila, y a Jobab. Todos estos fueron hijos de Jectán.
Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All those people were descended from Joktan.
30 Y fue su habitación desde Messa, viniendo de Sefar, monte de oriente.
The areas in which they lived extended from Mesha westward to Sephar, which is in the (hill country/area that has a lot of hills).
31 Estos fueron los hijos de Sem por sus familias, por sus lenguas, en sus tierras, en sus naciones.
They are descendants of Shem. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
32 Estas son las familias de Noé por sus descendencias, en sus naciones: y de estos fueron divididas las naciones en la tierra después del diluvio.
All those groups descended from the sons of Noah. Each group had its own (genealogy/record of people’s ancestors) and each became a separate ethnic group. Those ethnic groups formed after the flood and spread all around the earth.
