Gálatas 3

1 ¡Oh Gálatas sin seso! ¿quién os hechizó para no obedecer a la verdad; vosotros, delante de cuyos ojos Jesu Cristo fue ya claramente representado, crucificado entre vosotros?

O foolish Galatians, who bewitched you? before whose eyes Jesus Christ was plainly set forth among you crucified.

2 Esto solo quiero saber de vosotros: ¿Recibisteis el Espíritu por las obras de la ley, o por el oír de la fe?

This only I desire to learn from you: Was it from the works of the Law that ye received the Spirit, or by the preaching of faith?

3 ¿Tan insensatos sois, que habiendo comenzado por el Espíritu, ahora os perfeccionais por la carne?

Are ye so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, do ye now end with the flesh?

4 ¿Tantas cosas habéis padecido en vano? si empero en vano.

Have ye suffered so much in vain? if indeed it be really in vain.

5 El, pues, que os suministra el Espíritu, y obra milagros entre vosotros, ¿ lo hace por las obras de la ley, o por el oír de la fe?

Doth he then who is supplying to you the Spirit, and working miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by the preaching of faith?

6 Así como Abraham creyó a Dios, y le fue contado a justicia.

Even as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness.”

7 Sabéd, pues, que los que son de la fe, los tales son hijos de Abraham.

Know then that they who have faith, these are the sons of Abraham.

8 Y viendo antes la Escritura, que Dios por la fe había de justificar a los Gentiles, anunció antes el evangelio a Abraham, diciendo: Todas las naciones serán bendecidas en ti.

Moreover the Scripture, foreseeing that God was to accept the gentiles as righteous by faith, proclaimed beforehand the glad tidings to Abraham, saying, “In thee shall all nations be blessed.”

9 Luego los que son de la fe, son benditos con el creyente Abraham.

So then they who have faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

10 Porque todos los que son de las obras de la ley, debajo de maldición están; porque escrito está: Maldito todo aquel que no permaneciere en todas las cosas que están escritas en el libro de la ley, para hacerlas.

For as many as rely on the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law, to do them.”

11 Mas que por la ley ninguno se justifica delante de Dios, es manifiesto; porque: El justo por la fe vivirá.

But further, that through the observance of the Law no one is accepted as righteous with God is evident; for “the righteous shall live by faith.”

12 Y la ley no es de la fe; antes dice: El hombre que las hiciere, vivirá en ellas.

And the Law hath nothing to do with faith; but [[its language is]], “He that hath done them shall live in them.”

13 Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la ley, hecho por nosotros maldición; (porque escrito está: Maldito todo aquel que es colgado en madero: )

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, “Cursed is every one that is hanged on a beam of wood,”—

14 A fin de que la bendición de Abraham viniese sobre los Gentiles por Cristo Jesús; para que por la fe recibamos la promesa del Espíritu.

to the end that in Christ Jesus the blessing promised to Abraham might come to the gentiles, that we through faith might receive the Spirit which was promised.

15 Hermanos, (hablo como hombre, ) aunque no sea sino concierto humano, sin embargo si fuere confirmado, nadie le abroga, ni le añade.

Brethren, I speak according to what is practised among men; no one sets aside even a human covenant, or makes additions to it, after it has been ratified.

16 Ahora bien, a Abraham, pues, fueron hechas las promesas, y a su simiente. No dice: Y a las simientes, como de muchos; sino como de uno: Y a tu simiente, la cual es Cristo.

But the promises were made to Abraham and “to his offspring.” He doth not say, “and to offsprings,” as speaking of many, but, as speaking of one, “and to thy offspring,” which is Christ.

17 Por lo que esto digo: Que el concierto confirmado antes por Dios acerca de Cristo, la ley que fue dada cuatrocientos y treinta años después, no le puede abrogar, para invalidar la promesa.

And what I mean is this; that a covenant that was before ratified by God, the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, cannot annul, so as to make void the promise;

18 Porque si la herencia es por la ley, ya no será por la promesa: Dios empero por promesa le hizo la donación a Abraham.

for if the inheritance cometh from the Law, it ceaseth to be the consequence of the promise; but to Abraham God gave it by promise.

19 ¿De qué, pues, sirve la ley? Fue impuesta por causa de las transgresiones (hasta que viniese la simiente a quien fue hecha la promesa, ) ordenada por ángeles, en mano de un mediador.

To what end then was the Law? It was added because of transgressions, till the offspring should come to whom the promise belongeth, having been ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.

20 Y un mediador no es de uno; mas Dios es uno.

Now no mediator is a mediator of one; but God is one.

21 Luego ¿la ley es contra las promesas de Dios? En ninguna manera; porque si se hubiese dado una ley que pudiera vivificar, la justicia verdaderamente habría sido por la ley.

Is then the Law against the promises of God? Far be it! For if a law had been given which was able to give life, righteousness would indeed have been by the Law;

22 Mas encerró la Escritura todo debajo de pecado, para que la promesa, por la fe de Jesu Cristo, fuese dada a los creyentes.

but the Scripture shut up all under sin, that the blessing promised through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

23 Empero antes que viniese la fe estábamos guardados debajo de la ley, encerrados para aquella fe, que había de ser revelada.

But before faith came, we were kept in ward under the Law, shut up unto the faith which was to be revealed.

24 De manera que la ley fue nuestro ayo para llevarnos a Cristo, para que fuésemos justificados por la fe.

So then the Law hath been our schoolmaster, to lead us to Christ, that we might be accepted as righteous through faith;

25 Mas venida la fe, ya no estamos debajo de la mano del ayo.

but faith having come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 Porque vosotros todos sois hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús.

For ye are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus;

27 Porque todos los que habéis sido bautizados en Cristo, de Cristo estáis revestidos.

for as many of you as were baptized into Christ, did put on Christ.

28 No hay aquí Judío, ni Griego; no hay siervo, ni libre; no hay macho, ni hembra; porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male and female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus;

29 Y si vosotros sois de Cristo, entonces la simiente de Abraham sois, y herederos conforme a la promesa.

and if ye belong to Christ, then are ye Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise.
