Esdras 10
1 Y orando Ésdras, y confesando, llorando, y echándose delante de la casa de Dios, juntáronse a él una muy grande congregación de Israel, varones, y mujeres, y niños, y lloraba el pueblo de gran lloro.
Now when Esdras was thus praying, and beseeching, and weeping, and lying before the temple of God, there was gathered to him of Israel an exceeding great assembly of men and women and children, and the people wept with much lamentation.
2 Y respondió Sequenías, hijo de Jehiel, de los hijos de Elam, y dijo a Ésdras: Nosotros nos hemos rebelado contra nuestro Dios, que tomamos mujeres extranjeras de los pueblos de la tierra: mas esperanza hay aun para Israel sobre esto.
And Sechenias the son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam answered, and said to Esdras: We have sinned against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: and now if there be repentance in Israel concerning this,
3 Por tanto ahora hagamos alianza con nuestro Dios, que echaremos todas las mujeres, y los nacidos de ellas, por el consejo del señor y de los que temen el mandamiento de nuestro Dios: y hágase conforme a la ley.
Let us make a covenant with the Lord our God, to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the will of the Lord, and of them that fear the commandment of the Lord our God: let it be done according to the law.
4 Levántate, porque a ti toca el negocio, y nosotros seremos contigo: esfuérzate, y haz.
Arise, it is thy part to give orders, and we will be with thee: take courage, and do it.
5 Entonces Ésdras se levantó, y juramentó a los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los Levitas, y a todo Israel, para hacer conforme a esto: y juraron.
So Esdras arose, and made the chiefs of the priests and of the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word, and they swore.
6 Y levantóse Ésdras de delante de la casa de Dios, y fuése a la cámara de Johanán, hijo de Eliasib, y fuése allá: no comió pan, ni bebió agua, porque se entristeció sobre la prevaricación de los de la transmigración.
And Esdras rose up from before the house of God, and went to the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliasib, and entered in thither: he ate no bread, and drank no water: for he mourned for the transgression of them that were come out of the captivity.
7 E hicieron pasar pregón por Judá y por Jerusalem a todos los hijos de la transmigración, que se juntasen en Jerusalem.
And proclamation was made in Juda and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should assemble together into Jerusalem.
8 Y que el que no viniese dentro de tres días conforme al acuerdo de los príncipes y de los ancianos, toda su hacienda pereciese, y él fuese apartado de la congregación de la transmigración.
And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the ancients, all his substance should be taken away, and he should be cast out of the company of them that were returned from captivity.
9 Así fueron juntados todos los varones de Judá y de Ben-jamín en Jerusalem dentro de tres días, a los veinte del mes, el cual era el mes noveno: y sentóse todo el pueblo en la plaza de la casa de Dios temblando a causa de aquel negocio, y a causa de las lluvias.
Then all the men of Juda, and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within three days, in the ninth month, the twentieth day of the month: and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of the sin, and the rain.
10 Y levantóse Ésdras el sacerdote, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis prevaricado, por cuanto tomasteis mujeres extrañas, añadiendo sobre el pecado de Israel.
And Esdras the priest stood up, and said to them: You have transgressed, and taken strange wives, to add to the sins of Israel.
11 Por tanto ahora dad confesión a Jehová Dios de vuestros padres, y hacéd su voluntad, y apartáos de los pueblos de las tierras, y de las mujeres extranjeras.
And now make confession to the Lord the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from your strange wives.
12 Y respondió toda la congregación, y dijeron a gran voz: Así se haga conforme a tu palabra.
And all the multitude answered and said with a loud voice: According to thy word unto us, so be it done.
13 Mas el pueblo es mucho, y el tiempo pluvioso, y no hay fuerza para estar en la calle: ni la obra es de un día ni de dos: porque somos muchos los que habemos prevaricado en este negocio.
But as the people are many, and it is time of rain, and me are not able to stand without, and it is not a work of one day or two, (for we have exceedingly sinned in this matter, )
14 Estén ahora nuestros príncipes en toda la congregación, y cualquiera que en nuestras ciudades hubiere tomado mujeres extranjeras, venga a tiempos aplazados, y con ellos los ancianos de cada ciudad, y los jueces de ellas, hasta que apartemos de nosotros la ira del furor de nuestro Dios sobre esto.
Let rulers be appointed in all the multitude: and in all our cities, let them that have taken strange wives come at the times appointed, and with them the ancients and the judges of every city, until the wrath of our God be turned away from us for this sin.
15 Y Jonatán, hijo de Asahel, y Jaazias, hijo de Tecuas, fueron puestos sobre esto: y Mesullam y Sebetai Levitas les ayudaron.
Then Jonathan the son of Azahel, and Jaasia the son of Thecua were appointed over this, and Mesollam and Sebethai, Levites, helped them:
16 E hicieron así los hijos de la transmigración: y fueron apartados Ésdras sacerdote, y los varones cabezas de los padres, en la casa de sus padres, y todos ellos por sus nombres: y sentáronse el primer día del mes décimo para inquirir el negocio.
And the children of the captivity did so. And Esdras the priest, and the men heads of the families in the houses of their fathers, and all by their names, went and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 Y acabaron con todos los varones que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras al primer día del mes primero.
And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18 Y fueron hallados de los hijos de los sacerdotes que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras: de los hijos de Jesuá, hijo de Josedec, y de sus hermanos, Maasías, y Eliezer, y Jarib, y Godolías.
And there were found among the sons of the priests that had taken strange wives: Of the sons of Josue the son of Josedec, and his brethren, Maasia, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Godolia.
19 Y dieron su mano de echar sus mujeres: y los culpados, un carnero de ovejas por su expiación.
And they gave their hands to put away their wives, and to offer for their offence a ram of the flock.
20 Y de los hijos de Immer; Janani y Zebadías.
And of the sons of Emmer, Hanani, and Zebedia.
21 Y de los hijos de Harim; Maasías, y Elías, y Semeías, y Jehiel, y Ozías.
And of the sons of Harim, Maasia, and Elia, and Semeia, and Jehiel, and Ozias.
22 Y de los hijos de Fasur; Elioenai, Maasías, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabed, y Elaasa.
And of the sons of Pheshur, Elioenai, Maasia, Ismael, Nathanael, Jozabed, and Elasa.
23 Y de los hijos de los Levitas; Jozabed, y Semeí, y Selaias, este es Calita, Fataias, Judá, y Eliezer,
And of the sons of the Levites, Jozabed, and Semei, and Celaia, the same is Calita, Phataia, Juda, and Eliezer.
24 Y de los cantores; Eliasib. Y de los porteros; Sellum, y Tellem, y Urí.
And of the singing men, Elisiab: and of the porters, Sellum, and Telem, and Uri.
25 Y de Israel: de los hijos de Faros; Remeias, y Jezías, y Melquías, y Mijamín, y Eleazar, y Melquías, y Banea.
And of Israel, of the sons of Pharos, Remeia, and Jezia, and Melchia, and Miamin, and Eliezer, and Melchia, and Banea.
26 Y de los hijos de Elam; Matanías, Zacarías, y Jehiel, y Abdi, y Jerimot, y Elia.
And of the sons of Elam, Mathania, Zacharias, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jerimoth, and Elia.
27 Y de los hijos de Zattu; Elioenai, Eliasib, Matanías, y Jerimot, y Zabad, y Aziza.
And of the sons of Zethua, Elioenai, Eliasib, Mathania, Jerimuth, and Zabad, and Aziaza.
28 Y de los hijos de Bebai; Johanán, Hananías, Zabbai, Atalaí.
And of the sons of Babai, Johanan, Hanania, Zabbai, Athalai:
29 Y de los hijos de Bani; Mesullam, Malluc, y Adaias, Jasub, y Seal, Jeramot.
And of the sons of Bani, Mosollam, and Melluch, and Adaia, Jasub, and Seal, and Ramoth.
30 Y de los hijos de Pahat-moab, Adna, y Quelal, Benaías, Maasías, Matanías, Beseleel, Benvi, y Manasés.
And of the sons of Phahath, Moab, Edna, and Chalal, Banaias, and Maasias, Mathanias, Beseleel, Bennui, and Manasse.
31 Y de los hijos de Harim; Eliezer, Jesué, Melquías, Semeías, Simeón,
And of the sons of Herem, Eliezer, Josue, Melchias, Semeias, Simeon,
32 Ben-jamín, Malluc, Samarías.
Benjamin, Maloch, Samarias.
33 De los hijos de Hasum: Matanai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelec, Jermai, Manasés, Semeí.
And of the sons of Hasom, Mathanai, Mathatha, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jermai, Manasse, Semei.
34 De los hijos de Banni; Maadi, Amram, y Vel,
Of the sons of Bani, Maaddi, Amran, and Uel,
35 Banaías, Bedías, Quelú,
Baneas, and Badaias, Cheliau,
36 Vanías, Meremot, Eliasib,
Vania, Marimuth, and Eliasib,
37 Matanías, Matenai, y Jaasau,
Mathanias, Mathania, and Jasi,
38 Y Bani, y Binnui, Semeí,
And Bani, and Bennui, Semei,
39 Y Selemías, y Natán, y Adaías,
And Salmias, and Nathan, and Adaias,
40 Macnadebai, Sasaí, Saraí,
And Mechnedebai, Sisai, Sarai,
41 Azarel, y Selemías, Samarías,
Ezrel, and Selemiau, Semeria,
42 Sellum, Amarias, José.
Sellum, Amaria, Joseph.
43 Y de los hijos de Nebo; Jehiel, Matatías, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, y Joel, Benaías.
Of the sons of Nebo, Jehiel, Mathathias, Zabad, Zabina, Jeddu, and Joel, and Banaia.
44 Todos estos habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, y había mujeres de ellos, que habían parido hijos.
All these had taken strange wives, and there were among them women that had borne children.
