Deuteronomio 29
1 Estas son las palabras del concierto que mandó Jehová a Moisés, para que concertase con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, allende del concierto que concertó con ellos en Horeb.
These are the words of the covenant which YHWH commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
2 Moisés pues llamó a todo Israel, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis visto todo lo que Jehová ha hecho delante de vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto a Faraón y a todos sus siervos, y a toda su tierra:
Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, You have seen all that YHWH did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;
3 Las pruebas grandes que vieron tus ojos, las señales, y las grandes maravillas.
the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders:
4 Y Jehová no os dio corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oír, hasta hoy.
but YHWH has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.
5 Y yo os he traído cuarenta años por el desierto, que vuestros vestidos no se han envejecido sobre vosotros, ni tu zapato se ha envejecido sobre tu pie.
I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your shoes have not worn out on your feet.
6 Nunca comisteis pan, ni bebisteis vino ni sidra, porque supieseis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.
You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink; that you may know that I am YHWH your God.
7 Y llegasteis a este lugar, y salió Sejón rey de Jesebón, y Og rey de Basán delante de nosotros para pelear, y herímoslos:
When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we struck them:
8 Y tomamos su tierra, y dímosla por heredad a Rubén y a Gad, y a la media tribu de Manasés.
and we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.
9 Guardaréis pues las palabras de este concierto, y hacerlas heis, para que seáis prosperados en todo lo que hiciereis.
Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
10 Vosotros todos estáis hoy delante de Jehová vuestro Dios, vuestros príncipes de vuestras tribus, vuestros ancianos, y vuestros alcaldes, todos los varones de Israel:
You stand this day all of you before YHWH your God; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,
11 Vuestros niños, vuestras mujeres, y tus extranjeros que habitan en medio de tu campo, desde el que corta tu leña hasta el que saca tus aguas:
your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water;
12 Para que entres en el concierto de Jehová tu Dios y en su juramento, que Jehová tu Dios concierta hoy contigo:
that you may enter into the covenant of YHWH your God, and into his oath, which YHWH your God makes with you this day,
13 Para confirmarte hoy por su pueblo, y que él te sea a ti por Dios, de la manera que él te ha dicho, y de la manera que él juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob.
so that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 Y no con vosotros solos concierto yo este concierto, y este juramento,
Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath,
15 Mas con los que están aquí estantes hoy con nosotros delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, y con los que no están aquí hoy con nosotros.
but with him who stands here with us this day before YHWH our God, and also with him who is not here with us this day
16 Porque vosotros sabéis como habitamos en la tierra de Egipto, y como hemos pasado por medio de las gentes que habéis pasado;
(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed;
17 Y habéis visto sus abominaciones, y sus ídolos, madera y piedra, plata y oro, que tienen consigo.
and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them);
18 Quizá habrá entre vosotros varón o mujer, o familia o tribu, cuyo corazón se vuelva hoy de con Jehová nuestro Dios por andar a servir a los dioses de aquellas gentes: quizá habrá en vosotros raíz que eche veneno y ajenjo:
lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from YHWH our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;
19 Y sea, que cuando el tal oyere las palabras de esta maldición, él se bendiga en su corazón, diciendo: Paz habré, aunque ande según el pensamiento de mi corazón, para añadir la embriaguez a la sed.
and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, "I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry."
20 Jehová no querrá perdonar al tal, que luego humeará el furor de Jehová y su zelo sobre el tal hombre, y acostarse ha sobre él toda maldición escrita en este libro, y Jehová raerá su nombre de debajo del cielo.
God will not be willing to forgive him, but then the anger of YHWH and his jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book shall rest on him, and YHWH will blot out his name from under heaven.
21 Y apartarle ha Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para mal, conforme a todas las maldiciones del concierto escrito en este libro de la ley.
YHWH will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
22 Y dirá la generación venidera, vuestros hijos que vendrán después de vosotros, y el extranjero que vendrá de lejanas tierras, cuando vieren las plagas de aquesta tierra y sus enfermedades de que Jehová la hizo enfermar,
The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which YHWH has made it sick;
23 (Azufre y sal, quemada toda su tierra: no será sembrada, ni producirá, ni crecerá en ella yerba ninguna, como en la subversión de Sodoma y de Gomorra, de Adma y de Seboim, que Jehová subvertió en su furor en su ira.)
and that the whole land of it is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which YHWH overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
24 Y dirán todas las gentes: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová esto a esta tierra? ¿Qué ira es esta de tan gran furor?
even all the nations shall say, "Why has YHWH done thus to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?"
25 Y respondérseles ha: Por cuanto dejaron el concierto de Jehová el Dios de sus padres que el concertó con ellos, cuando les sacó de tierra de Egipto,
Then men shall say, "Because they forsook the covenant of YHWH, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
26 Y fueron, y sirvieron a dioses ajenos, e inclináronse a ellos; dioses que no conocieron, y que ninguna cosa les habían dado.
and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they did not know, and that he had not given to them:
27 Y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra esta tierra, para traer sobre ella todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro.
therefore the anger of YHWH was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book;
28 Y Jehová los desarraigó de su tierra con enojo y con saña, y con furor grande, y los echó a otra tierra, como parece hoy.
and YHWH rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day."
29 Las cosas secretas pertenecen a Jehová nuestro Dios: mas las reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos para siempre, para que hagamos todas las palabras de esta ley.
The secret things belong to YHWH our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
