Hechos 4
1 Y hablando ellos al pueblo, sobrevinieron los sacerdotes, y el magistrado del templo, y los Saduceos,
But, as they were speaking unto the people, the High-priests and the Captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,
2 Pesándoles de que enseñasen al pueblo, y anunciasen en el nombre de Jesús la resurrección de los muertos.
Being tired out because of their teaching the people, and announcing, in Jesus, the resurrection from among the dead;
3 Y les echaron mano, y los pusieron en la cárcel hasta el día siguiente; porque era ya tarde.
And they thrust on them their hands, and put them in custody for the morrow, for it was evening, already.
4 Mas muchos de los que habían oído la palabra creyeron; y fue hecho el número de los hombres, como cinco mil.
Howbeit, many of them that heard the word, believed; and the number of the men became about five thousand.
5 Y aconteció el día siguiente, que los príncipes de ellos se juntaron, y los ancianos, y los escribas, en Jerusalem,
And it came to pass, upon the morrow, that there were gathered together of them, the rulers and the elders and the scribes, in Jerusalem;
6 Y Annás, sumo sacerdote, y Caifás, y Juan, y Alejandro, y todos los que eran de la parentela del sumo sacerdote.
Also Annas, the high-priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of high-priestly descent; —
7 Y haciéndolos presentar en medio, les preguntaron: ¿Con qué poder, o en qué nombre habéis hecho vosotros esto?
And, setting them in the midst, they began to enquire—In what manner of power, or in what manner of name, did, ye, do this?
8 Entonces Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, les dijo: Príncipes del pueblo, y ancianos de Israel:
Then Peter, filled with Holy Spirit, said unto them—Ye rulers of the people, and elders!
9 Pues que somos hoy demandados acerca del beneficio hecho a un hombre enfermo, es a saber, de qué manera éste haya sido sanado;
If, we, this day, are to be examined for doing good to a sick man, —in whom, this, man hath been made well,
10 Sea notorio a todos vosotros, y a todo el pueblo de Israel, que en el nombre de Jesu Cristo, el Nazareno, el que vosotros crucificasteis, el que Dios resucitó de los muertos, aun por él éste está en vuestra presencia sano.
Be it known unto you all, and unto all the people of Israel: that, in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, —whom, ye, crucified, whom, God, raised from among the dead, in him, doth, this man stand by, in your presence, whole.
11 Este es la piedra reprobada de vosotros los edificadores, la cual es puesta por cabeza de la esquina.
This, is the stone, set at nought by you the builders, which became the head of the corner;
12 Y en ningún otro hay salud; porque no hay otro nombre debajo del cielo, dado a los hombres, en que nos sea necesario ser salvos.
And there is in no one else, salvation, for, neither is there any other name, under heaven, which hath been set forth among men, in which we must needs be saved.
13 Entonces viendo la constancia de Pedro y de Juan, sabido que eran hombres sin letras e idiotas, se maravillaban; y los conocían que habían estado con Jesús.
And, looking at Peter’s boldness of speech, and John’s, and having discovered that they were unlettered and obscure men, they began to marvel, recognising them also, that they had been with Jesus;
14 Y viendo al hombre que había sido sanado, que estaba con ellos, no podían decir nada en contra.
Seeing, the man also standing, with them, even the [man] who had been cured, they had nothing wherewith to contradict.
15 Mas mandándoles que se saliesen fuera del concilio, conferían entre sí,
Howbeit, ordering them to go forth outside the high-council, they began to confer one with another,
16 Diciendo: ¿Qué hemos de hacer con estos hombres? porque cierto un milagro manifiesto ha sido hecho por ellos, notorio a todos los que moran en Jerusalem, y no lo podemos negar.
Saying—What are we to do with these men? For, indeed, that a notable sign hath come to pass through their means, unto all who are dwelling in Jerusalem, is manifest, and we cannot deny [it]!
17 Todavía, porque no se divulgue más por el pueblo, amenacémosles que no hablen de aquí adelante a hombre alguno en este nombre.
Nevertheless, lest it further spread abroad among the people, let us charge them with threats, to be no more speaking upon this name, to any soul of man.
18 Y llamándolos les mandaron que en ninguna manera hablasen, ni enseñasen en el nombre de Jesús.
And, calling them, they gave them the sweeping charge, —not to be sounding aloud, nor even to be teaching, upon the name of Jesus.
19 Entonces Pedro y Juan respondiendo, les dijeron: Juzgád, si es justo delante de Dios obedecer antes a vosotros que a Dios.
But, Peter and John, answering, said unto them—Whether it be right in presence of God, unto you, to be hearkening, rather than unto God, judge!
20 Porque no podemos dejar de hablar lo que hemos visto y oído.
For, we, cannot but be speaking the things which we have seen and heard.
21 Ellos entonces no hallando en qué castigarlos, los enviaron amenazándoles, por causa del pueblo; porque todos glorificaban a Dios de lo que había sido hecho.
They, however, further charging them with threats, let them go, finding nothing as to how they might chastise them, on account of the people; because, all, were glorifying God for that which had come to pass; —
22 Porque el hombre en quien había sido hecho este milagro de sanidad, era de más de cuarenta años.
For, more than forty years old, was the man, upon whom had taken place, this healing sign.
23 Y sueltos ellos, vinieron a los suyos, y contaron lo que los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ancianos les habían dicho.
But, when they had been let go, they came unto their own [friends], and told as many things as, unto them, the High-priests and Elders, had said.
24 Los cuales habiéndolo oído, alzaron unánimes la voz a Dios, y dijeron: Señor, tú eres Dios, que hiciste el cielo y la tierra, la mar, y todas las cosas que en ellos están:
And, they, having heard, with one accord, uplifted voice unto God, and said—O Sovereign! Thou, art he that made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all things that are herein:
25 Que por la boca de David tu siervo dijiste: ¿Por qué han bramado los paganos, y los pueblos han pensado cosas vanas?
Who, by our father, through means of the Holy Spirit, even by the mouth of David thy servant, said—Unto what end did nations rage, and, peoples, busy themselves with empty things?
26 Se levantaron los reyes de la tierra, y los príncipes se juntaron a una contra el Señor, y contra su Cristo.
The kings of the earth stationed themselves, and, the rulers, were gathered together, with one intent, against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 Porque verdaderamente se juntaron contra tu Santo Hijo Jesús, al cual ungiste, Heródes, y Poncio Pilato, con los Gentiles, y el pueblo de Israel,
For they were gathered together, of a truth, in this city, against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hadst anointed, —both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with them of the nations, and peoples of Israel; —
28 Para hacer lo que tu mano y tu consejo antes habían determinado que había de ser hecho.
To do whatsoever, thy hand and thy counsel, marked out beforehand to come to pass.
29 Y ahora, Señor, pon los ojos en sus amenazas, y da a tus siervos que con toda confianza hablen tu palabra.
As to the present things, then, O Lord, —look upon their threats, and grant unto thy servants, with all freedom of utterance, to be speaking thy word,
30 Extendiendo tu mano para que sanidades, y milagros, y prodigios sean hechos por el nombre de tu Santo Hijo Jesús.
By stretching forth thy hand for healing, and by the coming to pass of both signs and wonders, through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.
31 Y como hubieron orado, el lugar en que estaban congregados se conmovió; y todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo, y hablaron animosamente la palabra de Dios.
And, when they had made supplication, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were filled, one and all, with the Holy Spirit, and began speaking the word of God with freedom of utterance.
32 Y de la multitud de los que habían creído era un corazón y una alma; y ninguno decía ser suyo algo de lo que poseían, mas todas las cosas les eran comunes.
And, the throng of them that believed, had one heart and soul, and not so much as one was saying that, aught of his goods, was, his own, but they had all things common.
33 Y los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús con grande poder; y gran gracia estaba sobre todos ellos.
And, with great power, were the apostles giving forth their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus; great favour also was upon them all.
34 Ni había entre ellos ningún necesitado; porque los que poseían heredades o casas, vendiéndolas, traían el precio de lo vendido,
For there was not so much as anyone, lacking, among them; for, as many as were possessors of lands or houses, selling them, were bringing the prices of the things that were being sold,
35 Y lo depositaban a los pies de los apóstoles, y era repartido a cada uno como tenía la necesidad.
And laying them at the feet of the Apostles, while on the other hand they were distributing unto each one, in so far as any one had, need.
36 Entonces Joses, que fue llamado de los apóstoles por sobrenombre Barnabás, que es, interpretado, hijo de consolación, Levita, y natural de Chipre,
And, Joseph, who had been surnamed Barnabas by the Apostles, which is to be translated Son of Exhortation, —a Levite, a Cyprian by nation,
37 Como tuviese una heredad, la vendió, y trajo el precio, y lo depositó a los pies de los apóstoles.
Having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the feet of the Apostles.
